Gotta love the classics. D'you think you'll do a Lorewarrior entry on the Argo-class ship from the upcoming BT tactics game, or do you only do so on things that've been published in a TRO?
Yes the Argo is on the shortlist given it was made by the studio headed by the man who made Battletech :) I think there is a write up somewhere already.
Sarna has already an entry www.sarna.net/wiki/Argo_(DropShip_class) and of course, there is the Kickstarter update, that describes the Argo www.kickstarter.com/projects/webeharebrained/battletech/posts/1512716
Already knew about the Sarna entry, and backed the KS campaign to the $50 tier. (I'm planning on naming my unique Atlas either "Last Argument of Scoundrels" or "The Big Stick") I just figured CR mostly relied on the most recently-published TROs to determine what was canonical or not.
Awuh num num, Uhm yes lore I love the rate of knowledge that is give to us at criticality fast speeds what do you use to get information out so quickly a rocket , missile, autocannon I'm from the periphery we use smoke signal on my planet 😂😅
Probably when the game launches, since the material about it will likely be there. Sadly there isn't anything close to a TRO style write up for it I can use.
CR has said before that he just reads off from the TRO without change or practice lol. I think he is just a good speaker. I personally know a lot of people who can do the same with no trouble.
No prep, I just wing it. Every video is usually a one shot, unbroken recording. If I majorly screw up I start again. Record for restarts so far is 20 with Blue star irregulars.
Fair enough. Never did it to impress anyone. The series started to expand the background for MWO players who may not have known anything about the Battlemechs they are using in game because PGI have zero information on their website or in game. It expanded from there really and since the 'mech stuff was from the original books, as just cobbling together bits and pieces would in my opinion sound bad compared, I kept the format for other vehicles and groups. Also using the books means I don't make mistakes with the information since Battletech is a very complex universe and writing it from scratch would likely create frustration for others if certain information was left out. Honestly I am surprised at how many people reacted positively to these originally, but people like hearing the books read out, at least partially at least. So it might not suit you but it seems to suit others. Meh its the internet, you can't please everyone :)
You've named all these weapons on the dropships. Do these weapons cover every quarter? Your pictures show a bunch of badly defended 80's drawings. As far as I can see any decent mech lance can easily take out any of them. So you've either left out detail or have been unfaithful. Why not tell us how a dropship (overlord/union/ leopard/ I really dont give a shit) can defend itself from an attack? Or what happens when they are attacked.
The weapons generally cover the entire sphere, unless they are a Leopard class which is more like a traditional spaceship design. No modern images really depict dropships more adequately than the original images which don't really need much more than that to explain that the round or oval thing has guns all around it. A single 'mech lance is highly unlikely to get close enough to engage a dropship, even if it did they wouldn't last long since it has guns all round it and has way more armour. Not to mention the supporting units that usually defend a drop site which is usually vehicles like tanks or artillery carriers or rear line 'mechs. Dropships are generally destroyed by other aerotech forces since they can move a lot faster to avoid return fire, but again dropships are protected to a degree by AA units like Riflemen or Jagermechs to name a couple. It really depends on the force. I would also like to point out that the material in these videos are from the books. Word for word, verbatim. So if you have an issue then bring it to Catalyst game labs. But honestly, if you are confused then I am guessing you haven't read much Battletech stuff before and don't really get it? The art isn't meant to show dynamic combat, merely to give visual reference for the unit for tabletop purposes, same as the 'mechs which aren't all running and shooting in their respective TRO's. Finally. Dropships and their weapon arrangement etc. was mainly for the Aerotech game which played slightly differently from Battletech and wasn't as big a seller as the main game. Dropship models for Battletech tabletop for instance would have been fucking huge and expensive for scale purposes so it was never a factor in the gaming side. Aerospace could do scale models instead. In the fiction, very few 'mech forces would head on assault a dropship. It would be like storming Normandy beach with a few tanks after the allies had successfully landed all of their troops, i.e. a suicide mission. Dropships landed in large numbers for invasions and clustered together for better support and protection. Lone dropships for raiding ops or stealth missions would land far away from the objective and if any threat presented itself, it would leave to return at a later time if it could. But yeah to suggest I have been unfaithful is a massive troll attempt or massive ignorance on your part. The lorewarrior series has always been material from the books, never a word added by me or any other. But then your username would suggest you don't actually care so I don't expect a response and any that you do make will likely be another attempt to get a rise.
@@CriticalRocket question about the very top. From what ive seen of its designs, there is a thruster assembly at the very top. are there any weapons up there, or are there weapons that have a firing arc to cover that area? Could a mech conceivably jump up there and just shoot downward? i guess im just curious to see if the designers were thinking in 3 dimensions when they designed these things. asking for a merc pilot who wants to piss of some pirates. :P
"This is a drop ship it doesn't shake it drops"
I feel spoiled this week Rocket. Thank You!
LOOOHHHRRR!
This is what we need to drop us instead of the Leopard.
Richard Layton One Leopard is not that impressive, but a sqaudron of Leopards is terrifying.
They definitely need to make the dropship in MW5 a Union because a leopard has the wrong direction of thrust gravity in space.
This is the Dropship from Mechassault. Its the Icarus.
Excellent lore CR. Hope you do the Fortress as well, my favourite.
Also you can turn it into a boat if need be ....apparently. look greyson is crazy sometimes
I feel like a weapon or few could be removed for better crew quarters...
LOOOOOOAAARRR!!!!!

Awesome! Now all I need to do is convince my ARK-obsessed buddies to drop some cash on BT when the final game comes out.

This was all shot out back in the early days of the Terran Alliance, it's only just reaching the out periphery.
Critical Rocket comstar was down
Could you make a video about Argo? A vehicle of this type will be our base in new battletech game.
Probably when the game launches, since the material about it will likely be there. Sadly there isn't anything close to a TRO style write up for it I can use.
Argo isn’t in the Lore. It’s a unique vessel introduced in the HBS game.
Check it out its the icarus from mechassault!
Did you ever do the Excalibur ?
Not yet, but one day I will get there.
The sweaty nugget dropship.
How do you practice for your videos?

I would be more impressed if this was not a direct reading of the tech manual.
