    Great video! Nice topic. I think people hear the word Cubaris and think 'difficult' or 'expensive' right away. Great counter to that as these are under appreciated.

    That shirt is adorable! I'm just starting to learn about keeping isopods and I'm so glad to have you as a resource. The first ones you showed were all over in Georgia where I grew up, we called them roly polys. They are so stinking cute and I really would love to have a little colony once I learn more. Also, my favorite ice cream flavor is coffee.

    I just started out in the hobby and I currently house Armadillidium klugii, Porcelio laevis, Porcellionides pruinosus and dwarf whites. I was blown away with how fast my powder blues started to reproduce. So interesting! I am anyway scared of more expensive species. I will get some Armadillidium maculatum and gesteroi in the near future and they are already almost overbudget. But I mean they are so beautiful and interesting to keep that I am sure that I will love them. Hopefully one day I will be able to get some Cubaris! For now I just enjoy looking at yours! I love this videos, the footage and voiceover relax me a lot.

    I had have a family of grey ones I found in the yard. It's fall and they're always buried and really don't do anything so I started to feed them to my cave orb-weaver cuz it didn't have anything to eat. it is very happy now. it had it hoisted like 8 inches of the ground of the container I have orb weaver in and was on it for 2 and a half days before it cut it loose and let it drop to the ground. now its ass-end is like twice as big as it was, it is so-so happy. good thing the rest of my grey rollie pollies didn't die yet cuz winter snows didn't even start yet. I need to stretch this out till spring when i can start feeding it flies again ... ... in case anyone is wondering, this is the first year for keeping rollie pollies and a spider as a pet so I'm feeling my way around this and will be happy if the spider makes it to spring. the rollie pollies I can always replace. altho to be honest, from what I gathered the spider I got only has a life expectancy of like 18 months or so. it's not very encouraging but still cool to watch ... I named it Boris
    after listing to your video if I had to hazard a guess, I would probably say my grey ones aren't active at all because I keep the house cool (60-65) in winter, and being local to my yard I'm guessing they know enough to sleep it off till it gets warm again... I did check on them they are still alive just hiding in dirt and lethargic ... nice video, keep up good work.

    This channel has been really helpful, especially parts of this video. I'm writing a research paper on the genus Cubaris (specifically rubber ducky isopods) and it was nice to learn about some of the care requirements for some of the other species in this genus. I look forward to watching more videos on your channel. I plan on having cultures of certain isopods in the future and this will be a great reference when I choose which ones to start with. Thank you and look forward to what else you put out!

    What do you think the best isopod for a crested gecko vivarium would be (high humidity and in the 70s)?

    • @isopodsource4931
      @isopodsource4931  3 роки тому

      Hi! Our favorite picks would definitely be dwarf whites pored with a small isopods like A. nasatum or A. maculatum. They can’t harm the gecko and produce at a steady enough rate to both be an occasional snack and clean up crew !
