    As a metal drummer all my life, my guitarist actually made me go and listen to TONS of rap/hip hop... like NAS, Wu-Tang, Dre, Snoop, NWA... etc and it helped me really make my drumming more rhythmic and styled with classic beats but would then accentuate the chops (like with Nu metal bands Korn, Limp Bizkit etc) and it helped out a TON!

    Why is what you said in the beginning so accurate? I am a 14 years old rock drummer and the only style of music i don't like is rap. Most of my friends listen to it al the time, some of the songs are nice to me, but i only like a few of them. You acctually killed this Gabe, i wish i could play this too, but i still have a lot to learn and i need a lot of training. I am watching literally every video and i am following al the lessons to get better, thanks for this amazing channel!

      @itamarshoshan1864 3 роки тому +7

      Dude, when i was your age I had the same problem. I come from metal and I used to hate listening to other stuff, I really became good at drumming when I got out of my comfort zone and started playing and practicing funky stuff I never listen to: hip hop, pop, blues, reggea...not just metal and punk all day long.
      Been playing for 20+ years now, recorded and toured the world with my bands. My best advice to you is practice all styles of music, it will improve your control, and will greatly improve your writing (in your kickass metal band)

    • @hansbax4314
      @hansbax4314 3 роки тому +1

      @@itamarshoshan1864 i am already playing a lot of styles, but most of the time rock and metal. I am trying to get my double bass fast and straight now. I can play some slow trap beats and just pop, jazz and way more different styles. I will try to focus on the variation even more, because right now i am buzy with getting speed higher.

    Thanks for showing how you approach breaking down a new song cover and then how you build up your patterns to play to the song rather than over it..👍 Lots of drum cover YT videos just show the final version and not the work that went into getting there, selling a message that if you can't hit it on the first try then your drumming isn't good enough, when the truth is that any song will take effort and practice to get the drum part to fit well.
    Your final product is really impressive, well done 👏👏👏

    I've never heard that before in my life, the "stigma" that rock hates rap lol. A more accurate way to say that most people into hip-hop are about looking flashy and big bucks, most artists in that genre aim to create products that sell while people into rock and related genres don't care about looking fresh/flashy, even sometimes look scrubby, and artist / musicians in that genre aim to create dope art, and care about it being dope art more than they care about it being a product that will sell. But I grew up in time where Rock and rap mixed. Korn, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock - that was like my favorite shit at 10 years old. Oh and yeah I agree with you 100%, rap / hip-hop delivers a lot of rhythm, and I would encourage any drummer to study Hip Hop. Cheers!

    I love this. I’m play rock on drums but I love rap and eminem and this is an amazing cover. Also the drums sound really good.
