I like the polyrhythmic thing on the stack at the end but honestly, I just thought it was cool when you started that snare crescendo with your left hand! 🥁😁
Now this... definitely one of the best drum covers on UA-cam. Not just the cover, but the amount of effort you put into making an incredibly entertaining video. Congrats man, you absolutely killed it!!!!
I like that you showed warts and bumps while going through the process. So many videos only show the end, polished product. Insane challenge and I think you nailed it. Fun video to watch.
@@DrumBeatsOnline Your videos are always upbeat and packed with info. I appreciate the effort you put into your content and your playing style is smooth and energetic. Keep it up, dude! You've got skills!
As a metal drummer all my life, my guitarist actually made me go and listen to TONS of rap/hip hop... like NAS, Wu-Tang, Dre, Snoop, NWA... etc and it helped me really make my drumming more rhythmic and styled with classic beats but would then accentuate the chops (like with Nu metal bands Korn, Limp Bizkit etc) and it helped out a TON!
Why is what you said in the beginning so accurate? I am a 14 years old rock drummer and the only style of music i don't like is rap. Most of my friends listen to it al the time, some of the songs are nice to me, but i only like a few of them. You acctually killed this Gabe, i wish i could play this too, but i still have a lot to learn and i need a lot of training. I am watching literally every video and i am following al the lessons to get better, thanks for this amazing channel!
Saaaame, I'm 17, drumming for about 2 years and a half now, and listen to mostly rock, emo, metal songs. I don't totaly don't like rap but it's really not my favorite genre for sure ! But that seems cool to play sometimes honestly :) Maybe someday when I would have the skills !
Dude, when i was your age I had the same problem. I come from metal and I used to hate listening to other stuff, I really became good at drumming when I got out of my comfort zone and started playing and practicing funky stuff I never listen to: hip hop, pop, blues, reggea...not just metal and punk all day long. Been playing for 20+ years now, recorded and toured the world with my bands. My best advice to you is practice all styles of music, it will improve your control, and will greatly improve your writing (in your kickass metal band)
@@itamarshoshan1864 i am already playing a lot of styles, but most of the time rock and metal. I am trying to get my double bass fast and straight now. I can play some slow trap beats and just pop, jazz and way more different styles. I will try to focus on the variation even more, because right now i am buzy with getting speed higher.
I thought youtube drummers didn't make mistakes! 😱 I appreciate your work even more now. Love the creativity and musicality of your playing. Greetings from Uruguay!
As a multi instrumentalist but mainly a drummer, I always have appreciated all music genres since childhood. Big band , classical , jazz, Devo, Floyd, Elvis, Beatles, Tom waits, clash, disco, hip hop, world, All of it has something to offer.🙂🤘🥁❤️🇨🇦
Just put the time in and don't quit playing and you'll get there. A lot of people get busy with life and fall off. I'm not claiming to be as talented as Gabe, but after a decade of jamming, I know that the drummer I was 8 years ago would be blown away by some of the work I've produced. It's a blessing to be a drummer. Live it up!
Thanks. I’ve been putting a lot of time in because I definitely want to be that good. I don’t have anything to make me stop drumming so I’ll drum while I can
This is so tight, very well done! I consider myself a rock drummer and i agree that rap can be really fun to play (there's a lot more space to be creative sometimes). I also attempted to do a cover of this song, but this is just levels and levels above.
That was really incredible!! Wow you are truly a very talented musician!! I do like rap and metal and think both make a great mix. Druming along and making it your own with such creativity, awesome playing Gabe!!
That was bloody brilliant. The thought and craft as well as technique and flair was truly a joy to watch and listen to. Thanks for taking the time and effort to post
"Was it good?" Huuuuh YEAH! That was amazing bro. Like when you thru the left stick up and there was no break my mind just slid out of my ears. Awesome man! Major props!
The most of Time the algorithm fails but this one... I followed you since 1 month ago, and Ive watched a vídeo per day and all of them are awesome... But this one you already killed It Man... You are an elite level drummer
Holy crap! Wow! I've never heard this song (not really a rap fan, but I know a couple Eminem songs and he's clearly a talented guy), and I've never seen this drummer. Cool idea to take a rap song and add some live drums. And this song is nuts! Massive kudos to the drummer for finding a way to keep the groove while adding some insane chops. Well done sir.
This video is severely underrated. Keep up the good work man! You will get big soon ;) Edit: at my first glance it looked like you had 30k subs but in actuality you’ve got 300k. Hope you get BIGGER soon ;)
your approach to this was awesome to watch, also thanks for putting in the bits where you're practicing and learning the song sections. Makes us normals feel a little better about rushing or dragging a bit when learning a song, putting a little fill in the wrong spot here and there, etc.
I didn't expect that much from you in the beginning that you practice, but you burn it into the ground that was (!!!!!!!) awesome, beside I really like that the way you put notes....... Thanks Gabe.... We always supporting you 😘😘😘😘😍😍 By Mr. ( XD ) 😂😂😂😂
9:20 poly poly polyrhythm 😏 you nailed it Gabe!!! It's great to see your massive progress over the years❤ Sound quality, studio look, and your drumming in general... everything is getting better and better💪 Greetings dude, and keep pushing forward😇
You should do a video where you put drums to clips of tv shows. This video for some reason reminded me of a time I watched a video of someone doing that. Loved the drums to this song Gabe🔥
Thanks for showing how you approach breaking down a new song cover and then how you build up your patterns to play to the song rather than over it..👍 Lots of drum cover YT videos just show the final version and not the work that went into getting there, selling a message that if you can't hit it on the first try then your drumming isn't good enough, when the truth is that any song will take effort and practice to get the drum part to fit well. Your final product is really impressive, well done 👏👏👏
Every drummer I enjoy watching uses Meinl. I can’t even watch/listen to a drummer that doesn’t at this point. I’ve become a cymbal snob. They just sound so good. The best and it isn’t even close. Sick cover! People need to cross genre often. It keeps your musicianship sharp.
Funny you mention this as I've been experimenting with hip hop and rap recently and it's really diversified my playing. I feel like playing over "simple" rhythmic songs really challenges your creativity and time keeping.
Holy crap you nailed this one!! Love how you changed the chorus the second time round to the snare drum roll... great build up and dynamics. Love when you do these covers, especially showing the process! Glad to hear a drummer who likes rap/hip hop. Would love to see more Eminem!
I've been a subscriber for many years, and this was by far my favorite video you've created. To see the struggle in the in process clips and then what you finally came up with was a great teaching moment. Absolutely brilliant. 🔥👏👏👏
Man, I must have watched this (the song part) about 15 times now. It‘s so amazing, there is so much variety and thought in your playing. This will never wear our for me... 👍

Haha it’s true!!
@Jo Clem as I read your comment he said that
Eminem uses his voice as an instrument. He doesn’t follow the beat he weaves in and out of it. This was absolutely amazing!
That was epic training montage 🤣 this whole video was awesome! You did a phenomenal job
Thats just my every day workout routine! And thank you!
I can’t imagine having to beep out every swear word in this song

good job ✌🏼
