I thought Alomomola hit the number one on usage and I thought : “this is insane”. But just the fact that this pokemon is usable in ou at all is already insanity. Gen 9 ou keeps being surprising.

I mean to be fair torn-t was banned in gen 5; AV sets weren’t bad in gen 6; both AV and Z sets were good in gen 7 especially with the addition of defog; and in gen 8 while it lost z crystals, AV sets were still decent and heavy duty boots were introduced so it could provide a lot of utility for your team throughout the game. Lando lost knock, toxic, and defog at the same time that there was another blanket physical check ground type introduced that COULD do 2 of those 3 things. Torn didn’t have anything else introduced that competed for its role, it just lost the utility that made it good so by getting back some of that utility, it makes sense that it’s usage would rise as a result.
I remember playing Gen 5 NU back in the day and I distinctly remember Amoongus and Alomomola being the 'NU Ferrocent Core' as both Pokemon complimented eachother's weaknesses and had regenerator allowing you to pivot between them. Momomololol has been solid for gens, but flip turn finally made it OU dominant. Regenerator, flip turn, wish protect, 165 base HP, ok defense... it's amazing. Scald coming back is huge too. Nice video.

So of course it won't be doing any considerable damage back to these Pokémon, but it does fulfill its role as bulky support. Safeguard and Light Screen are still solid support options, even without the Prankster buff. Heal Pulse is a wonderful little recovery move that isn't affected by the Special Attack stat. A base 40 Special Attack stat gives it virtually no offensive presence, but I did add Scald and Icy Wind for the Burn chance and Speed control, respectively. And while miniscule, we know that every little bit of damage helps in the fast-paced VGC environment. Base 65 Speed isn't anything to write home about, but we can easily make up for that. Wide Guard and Helping Hand are priority moves, so speed doesn't play a huge factor there. Icy Wind also helps on the opposite side of the field for some speed control. And, of course, Trick Room turns that low Speed stat into a blessing, whether that's on your own Trick Room team or taking advantage of your opponent setting up their own Trick Room. 80 Defense is pretty good and I'll admit 45 SDef is awful, but base 165 (!!!) On top of that, Regenerator adds to its staying power by making it able to switch in and out safely.
I play Alomomola on my NatDex Doubles team. I always knew Alomomola had so much potential and actually “good.” For all formats, but mainly OU, when people learn about Alomomola again like gen 5/6 meta, it’ll be a chess meta. Great video, glad I found your channel (I'm sure your description full of tags helped lol), you're great at explaining these concepts and strategies to someone who's familiar with Pokemon, but maybe not competitive Pokemon as a whole. I never could get into competitive 'mons cus team buliding was a bit too daunting of a task for me, but I love watching competitive discussion content like this. PS: Your pronunciation of Goodra gave me whiplash.
This is all over low-mid ladder now lol. I used it myself and I found Tornadus T is a nice sub for Thunderus since it also has regen and outspeeds even more pokemon, can set up with nasty plot and has great coverage. I find it puts people using the copy/paste team in a bind because they cant use Tera Flying on Thund or they risk getting OHKO'd by NP Torn, but Tera Flying is the easiest way to break through Tusk / Slowking mind games
Since it won't just be used in stall, the power that flipturn + wish gives it will probably make its usage rise enough. Unless its reliance on Terramax for other things makes it too niche.
I’m SO glad to see tera flying thundurus getting usage. It’s a Pokémon that I’ve been wanting to use for a while (partially because I think tera ice is overrated on it)
Back in Gen 5 I saw both Red Card and Alomomola as new things that had good potential for being good/useful and I'm glad to see that they now are, and together no less.
The second this thing got scald I knew it would get a boost in useage Then I realized it got the combo of wish and flip turn on top of already having Regenerator I was very surprised it didn’t manage to break into OU last shift. This mon is probably is the best defensive scald user as well as the best wish passer with a slow pivot
Alomomola is basically reverse futureport slowbro/slowking-rather than setting up big damage on the enemy side, it sets up big healing on the ally side before switching out with a slow pivot and regenerator. Given the power and prevalence of futureport in the past, I wouldn’t be surprised to see alomomola take a similarly meta relevant spot
Glad to see Alomomola getting the respect they deserve! Getting Flip Turn really helps it act as a team player. Been using it a ton on bulkier offensive teams. Massive kudos to Pinkacross for the innovations tho, Tera flying acro is an incredible tech!
Made a "Fuck Alomomola" team back in gen 6 RU when it was at its peak, just a team of 6 counters, got to top 500 with it, time to dig it back up I guess
I'm so happy to see this silly heart hand fish actually get to do some cool stuff, flip turn wish with regenerator is great, as well as being able to safe pivot teamates in
I remember using mola in a team for uu or ou i cant remember, played pretty bad tbh but my oppopnent only had three mons left all physcial attacks ursaluna scizor and one other but she MANhandled those three like literally it wasnt even fair i felt so bad for my opponent alola on top
I was looking at it's moveset, and alluring voice seemed pretty good aswell, damaging fairy move which also guarantees confusion with 100% accuracy to boot. It definitely appears worthwhile on Alomomola.
this reminds me of my gen7uu piboting team i used to get to high 1500 (that was high for gen 7uu) it relied on Scizor, rotomheat and megabeedrill voltturning around and getting wish support from sylveon.
Bulky waters have always been weird, they kind of just show up multiple tiers up all the time. this happens so much I wouldn't be surprised if alomomola did this with less significant buffs.
That conflux of circumstances that make a pokemon or move rise in viability always shocks me. I'll never forget when Gen 8 made Teleport and Future Sight good.
Regenerator with Wish and a STAB pivoting move is just insane value. Only thing that could potentially make it even better is Heal Bell, tho there's not much space left in the moveset by that point.
Etika, a UA-camr who used to use all UUs/RUs/NUs in OU back in Gen V, also used Alomomola. It was very difficult but he calculated when it could take big hits.
I’ve really been enjoying this set (with leftovers) in UU, it pairs well with AV mons. I have max spdef max HP AV Alolan Muk and it pairs really well with Alomomola.
If Jimothy has a million fans I am one of them. If Jimothy has ten fans I am one of them. If Jimothy has no fans, that means I am no more on the earth. If the World is against Jimothy, I am against the World. I love Jimothy till my last breath.
Day 1 of dlc everyone was freaking out about mola gaining flip turn and scald. Then everyone proceeded to forget it and use the broken new offensive mons.
I love the way that Alomomola, get a spotlight rn ! I used to use whirlpool, wish , chilling water , protect earlier in this gen !! Now please buff luvdsic in 2nd dlc 🙏

Made a "Fuck Alomomola" team back in gen 6 RU when it was at its peak, just a team of 6 counters, got to top 500 with it, time to dig it back up I guess
I'm so happy to see this silly heart hand fish actually get to do some cool stuff, flip turn wish with regenerator is great, as well as being able to safe pivot teamates in
I subscribe, i did not found many channel who give 1v1 team help. Continue the good job
I still remember using him in OU with mirror coat staying in volt switches to surprise and punish the switch ins
I used Rocky Helmet Mola in RU when it was all Ambipoms and fighting types clicking U-Turn. Love that silly little fish.
i always thought Alomomola was an evolution of Luvdisc
So happy to them doing better in the meta! :) Acrobatics is such a damn cool tech.
This is insane.
Eh no its clickbait. But hey if it works it works. I was gonna click anyway tho no need to sugar coat
@@multiYellowHorse the clickbait is insane
Saw the title and thought "oh god not stall again". Very pleasantly surprised by the team, wasn't expecting Alomomola in offense.
Vaporeon was one of my favorites in Gen 8 OU for it's flip turn wish passing. Alomomola is that on steroids.
flip+scald is so brazy
this reminds me of my gen7uu piboting team i used to get to high 1500 (that was high for gen 7uu) it relied on Scizor, rotomheat and megabeedrill voltturning around and getting wish support from sylveon.
Ngl I love Alo momentum rn, very usable in almost any metagame
Bulky waters have always been weird, they kind of just show up multiple tiers up all the time. this happens so much I wouldn't be surprised if alomomola did this with less significant buffs.
I'm not surprised it's doing great in OU. Its Wish-passing capabilities are among the best.
That conflux of circumstances that make a pokemon or move rise in viability always shocks me. I'll never forget when Gen 8 made Teleport and Future Sight good.
Regenerator with Wish and a STAB pivoting move is just insane value. Only thing that could potentially make it even better is Heal Bell, tho there's not much space left in the moveset by that point.
it know it allways know it was waiting since gen 5 for this moment this instantence in history
Omg Pinkacross! I used to steal teams from him back in Gen 8 OU to get myself to 1200 lmao
actually didnt realise Alomomola had higher Atk than Sp Atk for the sake of Flip Turn etc
So used to seeing Scald, that it's burned my brain
Etika, a UA-camr who used to use all UUs/RUs/NUs in OU back in Gen V, also used Alomomola. It was very difficult but he calculated when it could take big hits.
I left OU for 1 week to play RU and I come back to this. WHAT
I remember Pinkacrooss using Arctozolt in Gen 8.
6:55 Alomomola Gaming. Nice name for it lmao
As I said, miss Mola has been rising a tier every gen, she was bound to be an icon in OU someday
ironic, from forgotten to no.1, thanks for the vid!
great tusk actaully died inlore, i thought that was a comment troll when i saw it.
Pinkacross is always a win
As expected of AlomoMOTHER she destroyed all her enemies 💅💕
I just read the description for the first time and I don't know what to think or feel
gholdengo is a pokemon for sure
It’s not what the video is about, but it is cool to see that Zapdos is still good in OU decades after it was introduced.
Nothing but bangers in this vids OST
This is sane.
great job mega luvdisc
I love the way that Alomomola, get a spotlight rn ! I used to use whirlpool, wish , chilling water , protect earlier in this gen !! Now please buff luvdsic in 2nd dlc 🙏
Alomomola was always kind of good...Been using it every gen it's allowed since Gen 6
Love your vids Jim
People will say Alomomola has low spdef but it gets access to light screen.
It's never Alomomover! You can kill the Pokémon, but you will never kill the idea!
Fish pokemon are really strong this gen
tera flying acrobatics Luvdisc+ is fuckin sick
I just love the fact Thundurus T on the team
Bro alolamola is ou now its crazy😮💨
Almomola proves its self to be the best pink water type sorry bruxfish and gorebyss
Mola is actually really underrated
After seeing Blunder and co. ranking no #1 in gen 8 natdex with a trick room rampardos team, for me, everything is possible.
Real Gigachad Move to promote his YT Channel.
I've been calling this thing Alomola for decades
Acrobatics Alonomola is insane
i love me some pink bulky regenerator water type pivots
I love using alomola in UU as a bulky pivot to alllow for aracanine H to switch in and forming a regenerator core with ammoungus
We are so Alomomoback 🗣🔥
Alomamola has been so close to being good for a minute now, I'm also biased towards bulky water types
Whats the big idea using the gen 3 knowledge symbol in many video thumbnails?! Are you finally considering them emerald battle factory?
Let the record show I begged you to try the factory before LRXC started doing it
