They are a great way to transition and just move the rope really fast and get a great workout with the demand it puts on the upper body. Will be working on getting a side swing tutorial done!

    I self taught myself how to jump rope like a boxer and speed jump, when I was in elementary school.
    A new kid came to school and showed off in gym class and it was the coolest thing I ever witnessed. I had to learn how to do it. I practiced everyday for months on end.
    Within 6 months, I mastered it. In the process, I developed athletic abilities that emerged from the experience. I gained physical skills that endured through puberty and served me well in high school football and track.

    I used to run middle distance triathlons, but let me tell you, skipping rope for 10 minutes without stopping is a chore.

    • @Jump15official
      @Jump15official  8 місяців тому +6

      For sure! Using the boxer skip can really help you do it longer, but you still have to build up over time. I've had a number of distance runners say that adding more jump rope helped to decrease their run times.
      If you see that let me know!

    I just learned the boxer's skip. This was what my jumping rope lacked.
    I have abackground in drumming. I'm going to apply some of the rudiments in drumming to skips patterns with the feet.
    For instance the paradiddle in drumming is : L,R, L,L, R, L, R,R,L,R,LL,R,L,RR. This is great!

    I can't tell you how many times I've rewatched this. For some reason any alternating leg movement falls apart for me. But at some point I heard you at ~38 seconds in. Why did I expect to get it the first time? Anyway, now it's starting to click. It's not pretty, but it is working. Maybe a million more reps.

    • @Jump15official
      @Jump15official  4 роки тому

      I hear you Jake. I remember some skills just taking awhile before it fully clicks. I recently went thru that with the reverse running man, but as soon as I figured out one little aspect boom, it clicked.
      It is easy for us to over think it. Try to relax and have fun!🤙

      You can do jumping jacks if you want🤷 but you lose all the benefits jump rope offers.

      Sure, but the rope makes it better and a lot more fun than just hopping around😉
      Check my favorite rope in the description 🤌

    Hey Kyle, great breakdown on the move. A quick question - is the foot that you are only lightly touching to the ground supposed to land at the same time as the other foot, or will your toes touch just slightly after?

    • @Jump15official
      @Jump15official  4 роки тому +2

      I think you can go either way really. When I practice the step I kinda get some of both. The timing is so close between the two it shouldn't good up your rhythm.
      Good question though! Can't say I've ever thought about that.

    What types of shoes is everyone wearing when jumping? My feet start to hurt

    • @Jump15official
      @Jump15official  3 роки тому +1

      My faves are running shoes and basketball.
      You discomfort may have to do with the arch support of your current shoes. Every brand is different. If you happen to have a running store in your area and they can fit you to a good shoe for your feet, that can help a lot.

      @@Jump15official thanks! I actually do have discomfort with my arch which is why I’m buying the Skechers arch fit for work. Hopefully it’ll help for jumping too

    • @Jump15official
      @Jump15official  3 роки тому

      Right on. You can also stretch your calves/achilles and grab a tennis ball, or better yet a lacrosse ball, and roll out the arches of your feet regularly. 👍

      If you get a little heavier rope, like a 6mm PVC, it can really help with timing. You'll get it! Just gotta get it to click with your brain.
