  • The beautiful Rainbow Eucalyptus trees on several of the Hawaiian islands are stunning tourist attractions, which are unfortunately also somewhat harmful to the environment.
You can see them at arboretums on the Road to Hana, and growing in groves on Maui, among other places.
They grow very quickly, and were originally brought from the Philippines a century ago to use for lumber. It turns out: their twisted trunks aren't good for construction purposes.
Problems developed with other planned uses for the Rainbow Eucalyptus on the islands, too.
While the eucalyptus was introduced into some areas to help control soil erosion, the beautiful trees ended up taking too much moisture out of the soil they were supposed to stabilize.

I'm afraid they don't grow too well in Arizona, so I don't have any seeds!

@@JaredDillinghamTravel They actually grow very well here in Phoenix😊 There’s a tropical tree nursery in south Phoenix called Green Life that always has them. It handles our scorching summers and cool winters with ease. For me it has proven to be an easy going tree

you said invasive, any particular reason you didn't show footage of where they were invasive, they may look invasive because people planted them in large numbers, we have a couple of dozen of them in nth queensland, extremely rare to find a seedling.

They're considered invasive because they grew out of control. The trees are beautiful, but still not environmentally friendly to the islands.

Only invasive because of ignorant humans.
