Showing how the unit works outside of its setting so that you can understand the logic of the mechanism is brilliant - a helpful, clear video - thanks!
you're the man, explaining how the actual 'lock' works is a new one, i've been trying to find a solution to getting my defected radio out for a week now and you're the only one that explains how it ACTUALLY works, niceone mate!
This is simply a great video. Thank you. Concise, clear, and no BS. And you offer an option if you don't have those tools. I've gone two summers with a crap stereo hardly working. Now it looks like it can be fixed without costing me a fortune. Thank you very much for posting the video.
Brilliant video. I was too excited to get my stereo installed that I didn't bother to check how it would be removed. Once I heard the click after pushing the head unit in I went uh-oh. You've made a very clear and concise tutorial and I feel confident I can get my head unit out without breaking anything. Super helpful. Thanks!
Question on Trim Plate removal: I have an older Alpine CD similar to the one in this video. The face is removed but the trim panel will not budge. Do you have any instructions / suggestions specifically for Alpine? Great video, thank you for posting!!
Thanks for the clear explanantion, but what happens when it doesn't work? Please help me troubleshoot as my stereo is not budging no matter how hard i try to release the locking tabs.
Anyone who has installed a radio/CD player will also know how to remove it, because instructions come with the unit and includes the removal keys. Most people do know the basics.
Very helpful video! My old car's a piece of junk overall, but I wanted to keep that sweet radio lol. Will try with butter knives or something 'cause I don't have the keys
I'm removing my stereo from my old car to put in a new one. I've gotten the stereo itself out no problem but how do I remove the mounting cradle/mounting sleeve that's still inside the hole where the stereo was? Looks like 4 tabs are pushed down and I can't see how to get in there to push them back up again to remove the cradle. Thanks very much!
Hello. Great tutorial. I have a Sony CDX-S2000 Car Stereo, but unfortunately i think my remove button got broken (it's just a small thin piece of plastic in the back of the front panel) so now i can't remove the front panel of it. Is there a way to access a supposably "hook" inside the Car Stereo body that could permit me to take the front panel again? Many thanks in advanced.
alright, thats a good video, but now i need to know how to do it without the keys... the car is 12 years old and i bought it yesterday, the previous owner didnt get it from knew so im never gonna find the ones that came with it. so what else can i use instead?
Hey there, I tried taking out my stereo and I got it half way out, but no matter how hard I pull it’s staying stuck like 3/4’s of the way, any suggestions?
I purchased a head unit from joying and it won't fit my car cause is 40 mm from my original stereo to the dash.and the head unit is only 20mm.is ther any way the head unit doesn't go all the way in and still be fixed?
Or you can just use some thin butter knives . Had to do that before on a car I bought that had no face plate for the stereo because the owner misplaced it and I didn't want to keep the stereo since I had something better . Worked like a charm .
If you lose the keys, you can always smack 2 butter knives down the sides and locate the locking pins. Squeeze them like a French teenagers ass and it’ll pop right out.

Jess McMurray its is in an rv. So it is screwed in to the wood.

Finally a explanation of how the latch mechanism works with a clear view ! No aussie accent and shakey long distance shots.

This helped a lot. I was able to remove the stereo from my car before the tow truck took it to the wreckage yard.
I found it so funny to see this comment, cause I am in the exact same boat!
Same
Great video...now I won't "F" up my old radio .
Thanks so much for this. If only everyone’s videos were so clear and concise!
Wow! What a thorough and professional video by a true professional! Thank you!

Brilliant. I did not have a clue before watching this. And yes, I still had the keys! Vital.
Best video I've seen on this topic. Thanks so much!
Wow, thanks!
Why the dislikes? This was perfect. Thank you!
Great job explaining, thank you 👍👍
Another great video that covers the basics that most people don't know. Thanks

use a cotter pin extractor tool, or one of the dental type tools to reverse the bent tabs and pull it back out
Thank you! I had no idea keys were needed and was trying to remove with a screwdriver 🤦
Funny, I did not have the keys, so I used a screwdriver instead!
@@yngfljm2277 Did it work?
Butter knives work as well
Great video those keys make now makes sense 👍

Can use a similar metal piece, knives maybe. He does other options at 4.00
Hacksaw blades can work too
@@TheVelosnow - thanks a lot: worked a treat for me!
Thanks a million, i have a unit that i have to remove that the previous owner put in and i couldn't figure it out short of removing half the dash
Very clear!!!! Thankyou! That's a professional.
wow, no complaints? whats amatta with you man?
Very well done explanation!
Thanks man
Hey there, I tried taking out my stereo and I got it half way out, but no matter how hard I pull it’s staying stuck like 3/4’s of the way, any suggestions?
make sure none of the metal tabs are gettin in the way of sliding it out is my semi-educated guess
Best how to video!
Extremely well done. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The issue now is the keys are stuck and I can't get them or the stereo out and the more I'm trying to pull them out the worse I feel like it's getting
I have an old pioneer tape deck detachable face. The trim does note come off. It's part of the unit. So what do I do here?
pull the sah off and get at it the hard way
So I poked some zip ties into that area and it released the deck.
Very helpful, and he is explaining very nicely. Good job bruh 🤙

Awesome!! ..and now I won’t break anything trying to remove my pioneer Bluetooth stereo from my old car
Where do you get the tools for a Pioneer stereo
You Killed the Skill bro. Thank you.. Easily understood. Respect!

Great 👍🏼 thank you so much bro, now I knew for what that’s keys 🔑 and how to use it.
coooool
Thanks fo4 the removal trick. That was what was stumping me. I use two better knives.👍👍
:) my job is done then..
Still relevant almost 5 years later, because the stereo in the 28 year old car I just bought is at least that old.
What if we don't have a key??
a thin piece of metal can work with a little patience
is there a way to remove it when i dont have the keys?
You can use a thin item instead, but the tools sure do help
Or you can just use some thin butter knives . Had to do that before on a car I bought that had no face plate for the stereo because the owner misplaced it and I didn't want to keep the stereo since I had something better . Worked like a charm .
whatever works, right?
I tried to detach my stereo with knives, but I had no success.
Why dont you buy the appropriate type removal keys on ebay?

Good video. But who still has the keys ?
I do
Why can't you use one of the other keys you should show how other keys don't work
Thanks bro .... Its working...!!

Thankyou so much!

Good sir thanks
thanks
welcome!
How do you get the bracket out?
un-bend the tabs that are holding it in. You saw him bend 3 of them. Look for the bent ones in your car.
thank you so much!!!!!
anytime. Im glad it helped
Doesn't help at all. I have no "stereo key" with my Nissan.
All knowledge is good (helpful)
Thank you
Oh shoot. I don't have the keys. Ready for a struggle.
Complicated design. Seems to be intentionally made this way to prevent easy theft.
This is kind of useless for stock radios
The people who gave this thumbs down probably got their stereos stolen :)
Hey dude? If I had the keys I wouldn't need the video, you understand?
try using 2 steak knives
$WEET‼️‼️‼️
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, good job.
Thanks, Its what I do!
