There's a band that sound a bit like Korn on their latest album called Chaoseum, The song Smile Again. That or Borknagar - Up North. Up to them, nothing in life should ever be forced. I like this song, some of the old black metal and death metal the vocals and the whole sound of the band eventually grows on you. There was some death metal where I was like yeah I duno, but eventually you can sort of translate it. Though I do prefer guttural vocals that are clear.
Sounds like i sang when i was 15 and was recording a tape at home with my friend. We only had a cassette recorder, a guitar and drums we played on an empty trash bin... was much fun. But bullshit as well...
@vinand sori while this is early 2ND wave black metal, Darkthrone hadn't fully converted to black metal yet, they were still playing death metal at the point of Quintessence being released, they changed to Black metal around '94 or '95.
Darkthrone are not to be taken seriously all the time, thats for sure. I think the serious instrumentation is a deliberate contrast to the hilarious lyrics
I get a lot of anger when youtubers get into analyzing black metal bands and making fun of other bands metal first, interpret what the band wants to get to with the lyrics and then talk if you don't dedicate yourself to recording pornography something else leave this for the true metal fan regards

Quintessence riff is one of the best riffs of all. The song is the perspective of resistance to a new religion invading the homeland.
