I JUST went to Puerto Rico last month with Ruby!!! I'll be doing a review of Dorado Beach, a Ritz Carlton Reserve and St Regis Bahia Beach soon... be sure to check them out!... and have so much fun in PR :)
Hi, Thanks a lot for sharing! We'll fly in two weeks with our 15weeks old mini schauzer. I'm super nervous about it. Your video is really helpful :) Greeting to your little beauty!
hi! Thank u so much for the tips It’s my 3year old shih zu’s first time On a plane in a few weeks he doesn’t even Know yet XDDD but the tips will really help
I was just denied to adopt a dog from a rescue because I spend my winters in Mexico. Even though I have always done this with my previous dog for years. I used to foster dogs. I have alot of experience and am a stay at home mom. I took my dog everywhere I went. Which was alot of camping, parks, beaches... off leash dog park almost every day. It's just crazy I was denied because I fly twice a year months apart....
Why would you tell them this? Were you trying to go through a rescue, because rescues work really hard to deny people to adopt? They have some control issues. Some of the rescues will be trying to ask for complete financials, and medical records, to come to your house to inspect it. WTF? No, you're not going to see my medical records or my financials, and no you a complete stranger isn't coming into my house as a solo female, I don't let strangers in my home. They will also deny if you don't have a completely fenced yard, but I walk my dog 3 times a day, and we go outside together in between times. I live in a complex and don't have a yard, but my dog isn't suffering. Then the rescues can cost as much to rescue as it would cost for a puppy from a reputable breeder whose parents and the puppy have been completely health tested, rescues often come with a lot of medical issues. Now, all that said, I find that shelters are wonderful places if you don't need a hypoallergenic dog. I have never been asked how much I travel, and if I will be traveling with the dog. I have never had astronomical fees to pay, and they didn't care that I was a mere middle-class woman in her 50s. I don't offer any other information than exactly what they ask for, and even if asked if I have any travel plans I would just say no. It is none of their business, and telling people that you travel to Mexico for half the year could get your house broken into.
We are taking our Chug on his first trip. My concern is after going through security we can't take him back to potty. Some airport have relief stations but not the one we are going out of. I thought wait until close to time for the flight to go through security but that makes me nervous too,
Damn good advice man. TY! SUBSCRIBED!!!! I've got a 10yo? rescue Maltipoo. He's flying from LAX to RDU in a few months with me. First time for both of us flying together and my first time flying with a dog. I'm also a new dog forever homer and he's not exactly well trained. That's on me as I am a lifelong cat worshiper and he was kinda thrust into my life. Working on that. I would not have considered most of these tips. Brilliant! QUESTIONS: It's (LAX-RDU) a one way flight as we're moving and I was considering first class. Never flown 1st and cost is same-ish as a round trip coach. Can you recommend an airline? Do you think 1st class is a good idea if it's an option? Some airlines let you purchase another (coach) seat for your dog too. That's also something I've considered. He is an ESA, btw..One more, is there a preferred day and/or time to fly with our pup? Im thinking about an extremely busy airport, like LAX, and all the intense energy about. You get it. I really appreciate your feedback. TY🐶💫✈️
Thanks so much Rhian!! And great questions. 1. I recommend Delta. While I haven't had any problems with any airlines (and I've flown them all), Delta has always felt effortless for me, and flight attendants are super friendly with dogs. 2. As for first class, DO IT. it makes a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE having all that extra space, even with an ESA. Trust me. Since I got Ruby, I rarely fly coach domestically because it's so hard having the tray down to watch movies on my laptop or eat, and I feel squished, and I mean... a whole bunch of reasons you should just fly 1st if you have the chance. When I moved from NYC to LA for a little bit, I flew business because I had ruby, and its the best thing I've ever done. : ) 3. honestly, fly whenever you feel comfortable with your dog. due to covid, airports are like 50 percent less busy, even LAX, so you're fine... one thing I should point out is that at LAX, you will definitely see other dog owners flying in with their dogs... whether on leash or in a soft sided crate over the shoulder, and it's any time of day.. you'll be fine :). good luck with your move!
You had a lot of good tips! Thanks for sharing. I have a few questions for you. I noticed that in some of your pictures your dog was out of the carrier. I’ve been reading and trying to decide which airline would be best to use when I’m traveling with my dog. Every policy I have read says that the dog must stay in its carrier for the duration of the flight. I might just be reading it wrong but that’s what I thought they all say. Which airlines have you flown with that allowed your dog to be out during the flight? Also in your opinion which is the best airline when flying with your dog?
Hey. I have a micro frenchy he’s about 30 lbs lol kinda chunky. What class/ airline offers seats or personal cabins where your dong can sit with you? I need to get my dog from Chicago to Cyprus. And safely.!!! I love him so much and I cannot imagine loosing him
Hi!!!… I am planning to take my baby on a trip to Europe (from Chile), next year, it will be a 12 hrs flight, and I have not choose the seat yet (I already have my ticket), which one do you recommend (aisle, window or center?)…she is a 8 yr old bichon….thank you!!!
Thanks for the tips! Ruby is adorable! We’re taking our little girl from Austin, to Florence, italy soon… have you got an airline approved pet carrier that you’d recommend? 🐶
Can your dog stand in the carrier? We are flying Lufthansa, the weight is not the problem with my dog, she is only 13 lbs but the height, she is about 30 cm shoulder height and the bag is only allowed to be 23 cm 😩 and they always say that the dog must be able to stand up.
Now all airline are denying traveling with my shih tzu, and is about the size of yours. Am a bit frustrated that airline make it so complicated. What airlines you recommend that are Dog friendly???
Hello so I’m thinking on traveling with my dog on December she is 14 pounds but a bit taller then what my airline requires her carrier to be and I’m last minute they won’t let her on the plane
Hi, which airline do you always fly with? I searched and most of them banned snub-nosed for example “Shih Tzu” My boy he is mixed Pomeranian and Pekingnese I will be flying from bangkok to US next month Please give me some advice i dont want to abandon him😭
Hi! I am wondering if you have taken Delta Airlines with Ruby before. Do the check-in staff ask to see the rabies vaccination certificate (post ESA rule)?
How do I let my dog sit next to me on a flight.Idk if it’s only for service dogs but I just dont trust letting strange ppl put my dog In The back and stuff I’m just a weird person it’s just I never traveled with my dog before bc I adopted her when I wasn’t traveling but yeah can I let my None service dog travel with me on my lap sitting with me and what if my dog has to use the bathroom ON THE PLANE (I’m sorry I’m so clueless and I hope u say yes for the flight letting my dog sit on my lap) PLS ANSWER!
hi moonlight, it really depends on the airline. every airline has different regulations and rules are constantly changing. the best thing is to determine which airline you want to fly then contact them directly so you don't run into hiccups. good luck!
how much does ruby weight? i’m planning on traveling with my shih tzu and i’m afraid he might be too big (he weights 7,7 kg when the limit is 8 kg apparently), i’m afraid he might not be able to fly
You better check with the airline, as their requirements can be very specific. In Europe most airlines allow 8kg including the carrier. We just travelled with our little Havanese and the kennel requirements were very small because they want them to fit under the seat. We went just a little bigger and got a extendable soft kennel and they let it pass. Unfortunately though you won’t know for sure until you try it. Either go rather strictly by the airlines’ rules or consider if you are willing to take a risk. Good luck 🍀
Thank you. I am planning to have a first vacation with my Shihtzu. But i am thinking to do train which is longer than just flying. Coz i am scared to fly my dog 😭😭😭 is it safe for Shihtzu to fly? I heard they wont be able to breathe right or something.
Hi Jimmy, I'm trying to flight back home (Barcelona to São Paulo), but my only option due to all this corona virus situation it's to flight with my the dog in the cabin, my issue is that she is a little bit bigger and heavier then the airlines specifications. As you've travelled a lot, could you how is getting on board with then? Do they weight and measure the bag they are in? thanks so much.
Hi Marcos, I'm sorry to hear about your situation! Pet travel regulations are determined by the airline, and there are a lot of factors involved, so it would be best to call the airline you plan to fly. If she's a little bigger and heavier, some airlines allow dogs to sit on the floor in front of you (you would be better off on a flight with low occupancy), and if your dog is really big, you could possibly buy a separate ticket for your pet (obviously you'd want to avoid that situation). It *really* depends on the airline though.
@@Travelbinger I see, but from your experience, do they check if the kennel overweight? She would fit in a kennel required and I could "open" after we board so she would have some space during the flight. Thanks for your reply.
@@marcosaraujobr Again, it depends on the airline. Every airline has their own rules. When you say "kennel", I'd assume you mean soft-sided crate. Kennels are not allowed onboard US flights, but crates are. My dog is only 10 lb, so they never weigh her because she's little, but if you have a bigger dog, they might.
First how do you "sneak" a dog on a plane....you have to go through TSA? Second how would a person sitting next to you know your dog is not clean....did it smell? Because as far as I know you can't take thep et out of the crate.
Thank you will be taking a trip I definitely will be trying this tips
Ruby is so cute!
Ruby is Queen‼️😜

Subscribed! I travel with my shihtzus too. :) All great advice.
thanks so much!!
Does traveling with Shihtzu is safe? I’ve been seeing bad experiences. So I am hesitant to bring him in flight 😭
Thank you so much, I’ll be going to Puerto Rico from Chicago next month and will most likely be taking my dog with me 🙃
