I became curious about charcoal (white drawing with graphite) and while researching about it, i found your channel. I couldn't be happier, i love the simple way you explain things, so that people that don't have a lot of experience understand everything without feeling overwhelmed. I've sunscribed and can't wait to try out your tutorials! Keep inspiring!
Thank you so much 😀 Marilena! I am so glad that my videos are helping you on your drawing journey and I really appreciate your support. Stay safe and never stop drawing.
I use all 3 of the erasers you've shown but i have to add a couple more that has helped me as well. First Tombow also has a rectangle stick eraser as well so if the round tip isn't working for you there's another choice. Second you shouldn't overlook the good old rectangle plastic (vinyl) eraser, they're cheap and can be cut into shapes for finer details. Last a kneaded eraser is by far the most versatile. Plus one on the make brushes, i bought a 14 piece set off of Amazon that also came with a sponge for $8, 3 pieces aren't really usable but the rest are perfect for charcoal and graphite work of all sizes.
I've seen that rectangle eraser from Tombow before. I still haven't used it, but I will. I'll have to try the old rectangle erasers. I like having as much control as I can get when I am retrieving my high values which is why I like the smaller heads with handles. I agree the kneaded erasers are an absolute must for any artist. Thanks for the knowledge my friend :)
It’s one of those things, by using multiple tools it gives you the ability to manipulate charcoal in ways that you simply can’t with just a pencil and your finger.
Thank you for this video! I have been wondering what paper to use as I embark on charcoal drawing. I love to work large, and Canson has huge pads of mixed media paper, but I wasn't sure if it would work for charcoal. Now I know!🙂
Nice suggestions! I plan on trying some makeup brushes now. I clean my blending stumps by sticking them into a kneaded eraser and twisting a few times. I also use the sandpaper to grind down my monozero and click eraser to resquare it off for the super sharp edge like it was new 😁 it doesnt waste much plus they can get coated and smeary sometimes and need a bit of cleaning. 😎
Thank you, I’m glad you found the video useful. Yes, keeping those erasers sharp is the trick. I feel like the sharper your eraser is the finer the high values can be in a drawing. Cheers! 😊🙌🏻
Coolness! Thanks for the breakdown list. Something to run down and replenish before school starts. Not to mention the brushes - think I saw one on my son's set along with his pencils already😂 Do stay safe and draw away! Question: why not a sharpener as opposed to using a blade in sharpening pencils?
Hey Red! Yeah definitely get stocked up before school starts back up. I wanted to do an updated video on my tools for those of you that like to draw along with me. The results will be better if you can use the same tools that I use in my videos. As far as the sharpener you can definitely use a sharpener in place of a blade. (probably a safer option) especially for younger artists. Hope this helped, you guys take care! :)
HI! Very happy to have found you today! You are a Great Artist pleasant to watch. I would like to mention that your link for the gloves does not work and would also like to know the link for you brush with the white handle , i find it sad a lots of people watch but d'ont take time to leave nice comments! You will be rewarded for your generosity! Thank you so much for sharing! Cheers from Québec!🇨🇦
Hi! I'm glad you found the channel too :) Here is the updated link for the art glove amzn.to/3v0Vm7U and here is the link for a brush set that will work for following along with my step by step drawing tutorials amzn.to/3n6Xp7H Thank you for your wonderful comment :) it means a lot, take care my friend!
I never clean my brushes. However I don't work with other mediums so there is no need for me to clean my brushes. If I did bounce between different mediums I would use cool water and run the brush tips between my fingers with some dish soap. Hope this was helpful, cheers! :)
Again its because of the sourcing issues over the years. For example this link here is in the same exact packaging as the Worisons I show in the video yet its labeled under a different brand called "Sunshilor" lol The ones at this link are the best I have ever personally used for the three layered method. When I ordered them they were called "Worisons" (years ago) links.messer-creations.com/amazon/RZs1M
Tip: save the plastic tubes from the Tombow Mono Eraser refills. They are superb for carrying some vine charcoal in a pencil bag.
Great tip!

Absolutely, it works great. I have some of their larger dimensions and it’s my favorite paper to use especially for charcoal drawings.

I know that Strathmore 500 series and Canson, are the best quality paper in the world, are you agree?
Thank you.
Those are both really good papers. I think it depends on your drawing technique as far as which one an individual artist would prefer.

Is it possible to draw with charcoal on an easel?
Absolutely, I actually do that ALL the time!
Can you please tell me if it is necessary to somehow clean the brushes after working with charcoal?

There,s an old dutch saying: alle wegen leiden naar Rome. All roads lead to Rome translated. And for art it is true. 👍🏾😁🖐🏾 i love you,re video,s
Interesting! Well said, I appreciate you 😊🙏🏻
Thank you so mutch messer creations 🙏🏾😁
@@MesserCreations OMG😱😁 Thank you so mutch for the second heart. I realy appriciate it🙏🏾👍🏾😁😱
Of course, I just came out with a new video, “How to Detail a Charcoal Portrait” I would love to know what you think about it.
@@MesserCreations OMG.....i am speechless now🖐🏾🙏🏾😱😁👍🏾
Cute pig😍
Thank you
I think for erasing u just need two kind of erasers mono zero for sure and kneaded to clr larger areas that’s it … nothing more nothing less 🙂
Yeah, everyone is different. Some artists just need 2, others need 3 lol As long as it works.
@@MesserCreations everyone is different.. but not everyone is earning well enough to buy every kind of eraser👀🥲
You epic
Hahaha Thanks Lord Tatchanka! :)
Worisons charcoal, Prismacolor, Derwent.. do you like all three? Sheesh.. every video you say you use different charcoal pencil brand.
