A couple months ago I used to play a lot of Cerato. I considered myself fairly decent and could hold my own in a fair fight. I had never given much thought to Troodons, as I would usually just one-hit them after they landed a pounce or two. Then one day, I had the rudest awakening in all of my isle gameplay experience: a single troodon attacked me while I was about 65% grown. This guy was untouchable, darting and weaving around me, conserving his stam, disappearing into the bushes, and slowly whittling me down. I couldn’t hit him, couldn’t track him, and couldn’t get away from him. By the time I realized I was in trouble it was too late. I lost without landing a single hit. I couldn’t believe that was even possible. After that I decided to give the troodon a try. I have not played any other dino since. I’m completely hooked, and someday I hope to be as ferocious as the solo troo that brought me to my knees.
A pack of troodons is the equivalanet of a gang of bandits. I try to make my gang stalk the common roads, hoping for something juicy to come, and preferably alone. It works surprisingly well. If Deino stalks the waters, troodons stalk the grass. Also, nothing is worse than getting to the sanctuary, only to be be met by a troodon
In very long hunts, like the one with the Maia, it's best to ration your stamina and use bites when the target is in stage 3. Pounce should be reserved for envenoming only. All troodon attacks are multiplied by venom, so your measly 15 bite force is actually worth a damn.
Except biting is even riskier than pouncing, you are much more likely to get hit by a attack since they have both the approach and escape to get their attack to hit you. Not only are you doubling your risk by adding the escape time but you also give them double the time to react and DO something with it. Pouncing you only give them the time to react on the approach, your dismount timing is 'random' and catapults you away from them in a 'random' direction so it is much harder for them to react to it and given that basically anything and everything can kill you with a single alt-attack those are bad odds to add into your gameplay. With how long and boring growing a Troo is it is not worth risking unless its a literal AFK kill... but even that is probably not worth the risk since you would instantly die if they returned before you killed them.
At the end pouncing is what you are supposed to do, since in that stage you get the massive dmg boost which you can best use with pouncing thanks to the venom. You are supposed to save ur stam and only pounce for seconds till that stage is hit, then take turn full pouncing tk death. Just running up and biting is a death sentence, one desinced alt bite and you are gone
@dinometta Also, in the video you said that hanging on for long at purple doesnt seem to work with the dmg boost, but it does. Any dmg dealt has the boost and pounceing applies it the fastest, its just that deino still has a lot of hp and a weight advantage and good bleed/venom resistance compared to troods dmg (even after boosted). So it works it just wasnt an ideal target. Plus theisle can be decieving, you prob were closer to killing him then it looked
@@JustAShyGhost the tip I mentioned is specifically for small packs against fleeing large prey. If you keep pouncing then you're not going to have any stamina left for the chase. Tried some troodon gameplay for like the second time ever just yesterday. It didn't go well but it was fun. The few clips here and there provide some context and amusement to different game moments without being too disruptive of the normal narrative.

9:20 I do not know anything about that but troodon is draining stamina of the target slowly while being latched, even if it is not bucking. Thought that is your tactic there tbh. :D
I wish they would really do something about pounce. If its going to be a core mechanic then it should function properly and not just hand deliver you like a free door dash order to what you're supposed to be hunting.
@@Orapac4142 Silver lining I suppose. It doesn't make Latency and Desync any less frustrating for either playable. I can only hope that as these issues worsen they view it as a more important fix, as wishful thinking as that may be.
@ sure desync is always annoying, but I was talking about how the devs somehow broke raptors so bad (more than they already were) and had to deploy a patch the other do to stop you from getting outright disconnected when pouncing, not just desync or lag lol. Everyone deals with desync and lag no matter what.
12:36, if you didn't know you can jump then pounce in the air. AND YES you get BIG pounce hitbox, and when you hit, you pounce them to the ground, when i learned this PT became a threat no more, i won a 3 vs 1 with this strategy Love your video by the way :)
@@Anupamprime Pretty much anything can kill a Troodon in one bite, I bet having 10 midgets swarm you like flies would still be annoying as a T-Rex, even if it is more of a nuisance than a real danger.
@@boomerix it would just be annoying. The bleed Troodon deals is soo little for a heavy weight like trex. They take ages to kill a land deino. Infact what I really want to see is trex and Troodons working together... Since trex can bring down anything when a Troodon pack is helping him. And trex sharing 1% food would be enough to sustain all the Troodons 😋
Cerato players will shout from the tallest skyscraper that Cerato is perfectly fine and doesn't need any nerfs so I'm sure it's only a coninkidink that every Isle player and their deceased grandma is playing it. I'm sure everyone plays it simply because it's a really cool dinosaur with a cool design and not because it's one of the strongest things in the game, no way.
That land probably can't even see a little bit of blood on his screen XD. He could've finished growing another deino by the time you killed him Hahaha.
Haha yeah he's here in the comments, said he was still green xD but we drained his stamina and then there's just the sheer tee hee of boolying land deinos as literally anything 😂
I haven’t lost one that way yet, but MANY broken legs. I want to try one with fall damage reduction and the “fall damage drains stam before health”. Maybe fracture resistant, but not sure if that applies to falls
When I roll troodon I muster up a pack 6-8 deep. It's so much fun attacking Stegos with a pack that large. We each have roles and a defined approach: 1 baiter (me), 2 on offense, everyone else conserving or recovering stamina and harassing the target. I am under the nose of whatever we hunt with bright colors, encouraging the others to spam that mad cackle (F) and whoops (broadcast) so our target gets frustrated and overwhelmed. We typically only lose the packmates who aren't in VC. There's also something magical about the Troodon-Deino relationship. I will be the cutest little shit I can be sidling up to a big croc basking on the shore while my mates sit and watch from the brush. No matter how many times that gator snaps I keep up with the begging like a baby bird when Mom comes home. Sometimes they get annoyed and fuck off. Other times, they fetch a fish. I drag it out of strike range and call in the lads.
@dinometta Troodon is crazy fun with a team in VC. Stego fights feel like boss raids. We had one Stego we came at with 8 once. Two (the only Troodon not in VC) were downed immediately after we laid out who'd be our first up on rotation. Same tail swing! 💀 After that it was an hour-long hike along a cliffside road with everyone darting in for mock leaps as cover for the designated pouncers. For adult Stego I usually recommend new folks go for the shoulder, as I think it's an easier target and safer to bounce off of than the flank. After 40 minutes that Stego led us to a mudpit where I got cocky. He'd started needing to graze to stay fed, and laid down to recover in the mud. If I'd pounced him, I'd have been safe. But I got too close and couldn't bail when he stood up and got a swing in. We ultimately lost that Stego to a restart. He didn't log back in. Pack came back together and started chasing bigger predators at Highlands Lake. We had one Dilo advance on a pair of us that revealed themselves only to say, "Fuck this!" and sprint away at full speed when the rest of us emerged from hiding. We also bullied an adult Cerato into crossing by that small dam at Highlands by splitting into 2 squads on either bank. While he was debating which of us to swim into, Deino got him. 😂 The other dinos just don't cut it for me. No one else can flip a switch between adorable and goddamn terrifying as easily as a Trooey.
Tbh I kinda wish Troodon was buffed with something like a "cheat death" ability that was on a couple of minutes timer after used, constantly dying to every little thing(especially things outside your control like latency attacks that you avoid but still get hit by) while having one of if not the most boring growths of all carnivores gets old real fast. What I mean is the Troodon should survive a single attack, drop it to barely alive health but alive forcing it to either go into hiding to heal or risk dying to a slight breeze hitting their tail and this would only be able to trigger once every 10 minutes or something. At the very least they should reduce the noise a Troodon makes when walking and running because they stomp around like a mini T-Rex, its hard to try and be safe with your attacks when any movement is similar to a fully grown Omni rushing through the grass/bushes.
Yeah, troo is super fragile unfortunately. They do pack a serious punch in fights. 7 pounces to drop an adult pachy, less if you get it to purple immediately. 15 or so to drop an adult cerato if you get it to purple
"Have I mentioned that Ceratos are simply the most populated animal to ever exist?" In a few months, replace "Cerato" with "Allo", lol. All the problems we've had with Cerato overpopulation will pale in comparison to the Allopocalypse.
does staying latched do repetitive damage as troodon? im still trying to figure this out and nobody seems to have the answer. we need someone to do tests on an admin server!!!
You had the chance at making that title a masterpiece and you blew it... 😭 It should have been: "Everyone underestimates Troodon until it's *troo* late"
Yeah, that's what I always thought too. But last time I posted a troo video I was told you can just hang on, so I tried it. Didn't seem to do anything so yeah nah, back to spam pouncing
Amazing video! Respect for giving troodon a chance despite the buggy pounces and even more unforgiving desync penalties. I hope they fix those issues soon and optimize the game a little. I'm running a 4060 with a 5ghz CPU and still not getting past 90 fps on average with almost everything on low settings. Btw, if you will, could we know what setup you have? Or have you mentioned it in some other video?
Strangely, I've found pouncing on troodon much more successful than on Omni lately. They've become something quite enjoyable for me with Omni being a bit frustrating at the moment. I'm running an RTX 3080, i-5 13600k processor, and have 32gb of RAM
Yeahhh theres lots and lots of different buff ideas for Troodon to gain a better stamina pool, some recommended the venom siphoning stamina from the target to the Troodons, some suggested pouncing would have 3 charges stamina-free, I see why now with that long Maia hunt xD also pachies being pachies smh LMAO

You're not wrong
9:20 I do not know anything about that but troodon is draining stamina of the target slowly while being latched, even if it is not bucking. Thought that is your tactic there tbh. :D
Oh yeah! Pretty sure we wiped his stamina both times which is my what sent him back to the water haha
Absolutely love the music you have in your videos
Thank you!
Can't wait for trike and rex to come out so we can see the carnage you unleash with them lol
Lol it's gonna be chaos
I feel like this video didn't have nearly enough OOOOWAAAAAA!
Lol, always need more ooowaaaaa
1:59 the way my soul left my body 😭
Haha mine did too xD
13:25 was a dirty move
I felt so cool 😂
''Babe wake up, Metta posted''
They remind me of the little Ewoks screaming in the middle of the night lol.
They're hilarious
And oddly enough Ewoks where horrible cannibals..
Those things are nightmare fuel.
Lol 😂
I’m new to the isle and I really enjoy your videos, trying to get past juvi playing solo anything is a trip for me rn but I’m loving it
It's a wild ride but so much fun!
I wish they would really do something about pounce. If its going to be a core mechanic then it should function properly and not just hand deliver you like a free door dash order to what you're supposed to be hunting.
At least troodons didnt get disconnected like raptors were having done to them by pouncing apparently lol.
@@Orapac4142 Silver lining I suppose. It doesn't make Latency and Desync any less frustrating for either playable. I can only hope that as these issues worsen they view it as a more important fix, as wishful thinking as that may be.
pretty sure that got fixed as of now
@ sure desync is always annoying, but I was talking about how the devs somehow broke raptors so bad (more than they already were) and had to deploy a patch the other do to stop you from getting outright disconnected when pouncing, not just desync or lag lol.
Everyone deals with desync and lag no matter what.
@ Cool, they fixed disconnecting as a raptor using your dinos ability. Now make it actually work next lol.
12:36, if you didn't know you can jump then pounce in the air. AND YES you get BIG pounce hitbox, and when you hit, you pounce them to the ground, when i learned this PT became a threat no more, i won a 3 vs 1 with this strategy
Love your video by the way :)
Nice info! Thanks!!
Players: Ha Troodon small and weak
Meanwhile Troodon:
bullies Stego
bullies Deino
bullies Carno
bullies Cera
bullies Herera
bullies Maia
bullies T-Rex
Quite literally xD
Nah It won't be able to Bully Trex...
That has 9.3 Thousand HP.
3.3K more than Stego and a murder sprint...
Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
You always get me at the titles *shakes fist at sky* haha
Haha hopefully the video itself was fun!
Definitely a coincidence, couldn't possibly be because it's wildly overpowered nope no way
That land probably can't even see a little bit of blood on his screen XD. He could've finished growing another deino by the time you killed him Hahaha.
Haha yeah he's here in the comments, said he was still green xD but we drained his stamina and then there's just the sheer tee hee of boolying land deinos as literally anything 😂
JUST GOT THE ISLE great news right got hera to ADULT jumped of a tree that was to tall no more hera :(
I haven’t lost one that way yet, but MANY broken legs. I want to try one with fall damage reduction and the “fall damage drains stam before health”. Maybe fracture resistant, but not sure if that applies to falls
Aw man, that's a rough way to go :[
ooooOOOOHHH-WAAAAAAAHHHHH!!~~~
Heck yeah, now that's a coordinated pack!
@dinometta Troodon is crazy fun with a team in VC. Stego fights feel like boss raids. We had one Stego we came at with 8 once. Two (the only Troodon not in VC) were downed immediately after we laid out who'd be our first up on rotation. Same tail swing! 💀
After that it was an hour-long hike along a cliffside road with everyone darting in for mock leaps as cover for the designated pouncers.
The other dinos just don't cut it for me. No one else can flip a switch between adorable and goddamn terrifying as easily as a Trooey.
I'll have to share my tiger pattern skin. I've got just the right shades to vanish into the Highlands grass.
20:20 An attempt was made 🤣
🤣
5:48 only seeing one or two at a time for each pounce then hearing all of you guys scream from the bushes is fukin horrifying
Haha even worse when there's like 10 of them xD they'll drop you so fast it's wild
Metta nice video ;) . Serverpop = 70% cerato, 10% carno, 10 dilo and 10% rest .
You're not wrong haha
8:35 Deino Taxi 🚕
Beep beep!
People only play Cerato because of the passing resemblance to Trex, as soon as Trex is playable expect them to vanish from servers
Quite possibly
"Have I mentioned that Ceratos are simply the most populated animal to ever exist?"
In a few months, replace "Cerato" with "Allo", lol. All the problems we've had with Cerato overpopulation will pale in comparison to the Allopocalypse.
For reals though. Then I'll play cerato just to puke on their food haha
I just realized that’s gonna be an actual problem, the jump for cerato to allo isn’t a massive jump but still a noticeable jump.
does staying latched do repetitive damage as troodon? im still trying to figure this out and nobody seems to have the answer. we need someone to do tests on an admin server!!!
I am pretty convinced that the answer is no. But indeed, testing must be done!
@@dinometta from the gameplay ive had it seems like no, aswell, but the animation has the troodon bite multiple times so it SHOULD
My thoughts; Troodons are menaces, forces of nature you should not mess with. Tiny, sorta weak but incredibly powerful if played correctly.
Absolutely!
Nah.
It depends on skill level.
I as an adult Cera once brought down and entire 8 player pack Troodons.
It depends on how skilled someone is
cool thumbnail!
Thanks!
You had the chance at making that title a masterpiece and you blew it... 😭
It should have been: "Everyone underestimates Troodon until it's *troo* late"
Aw man! You're right!
9:30 im pretty sure you spam pounce and hop off at purple because it stacks the venom after purple
Yeah, that's what I always thought too. But last time I posted a troo video I was told you can just hang on, so I tried it. Didn't seem to do anything so yeah nah, back to spam pouncing
Gotta know if we will ever get that amphibious night deino, the pseudo-salamander of nightmares. One way or another though great videos.
One of these days! Gotta take some time off from deino though! It's one of those that is exhausting for me to play
I can't wait for the rex to be added cuz that is going to be a sick video
Same! Looking forward to the tyrant!
Love your videos!
Glad you like them!
it aint a metta video without at least one land deino
Heck yeah!
HUZZAH!! TROODON RETURN!
Heck yeah! They've grown on me!
UNITE THE CLANS came back!!! yippieee 7:03
Heck yeah! Love that song!
I'm running an RTX 3080, i-5 13600k processor, and have 32gb of RAM
crazy a carno can be more toxic than a pack of troodon
😂
Yeahhh theres lots and lots of different buff ideas for Troodon to gain a better stamina pool, some recommended the venom siphoning stamina from the target to the Troodons, some suggested pouncing would have 3 charges stamina-free, I see why now with that long Maia hunt xD
also pachies being pachies smh LMAO
Yeah, that stamina is the toughest part about troo. If you don't conserve it, the target will literally just run away
Troodons where my favorite and go too on Evrima
I'm learning to love them
they were right, when they are purple, you can just stack that damage
I need to test it out on an admin server where I can see if the damage stacks while just clinging on or if you have to pounce on and off each time
Moar trudon! the one true don!
Indeed!!
