There was a rumor when I was a kid where if you stayed too long in that pond thing outside Peach's Castle in Mario 64, some sort of monster would spawn and kill you. So we never dared to go in it.
Definitely remember a lot of these urban legends like Ben Drowned, Sqaull is Dead, and the Lavender Town Syndrome from when I was younger. Those brought back memories. Also, FFVIII has four discs. Not sure how WatchMojo messed that up.
Not an urban legend, but an interesting annoyance my ex had. Okami is her favorite game of all time. She's played it multiple times, 100% it a few times, and back when we were dating, she beat her personal record speedrunning it(4 hours and 17 minutes). However, she always had this reoccurring dream of a secret area in the game, keeping her from true completion. And no matter how much she tried, that secret area never showed up, even when she followed her dream exactly as it played out. Even on PS4, which showed how much she did. Full completion, yet she still had the same dream. A false legend exclusive to her sleep.
Oh boy, we're not just getting 10 this time, we're getting 20! FR tho, I can't express how happy I am to see you guys revisit this topic and add 10 more to the list.
Can't forget another Pokémon classic: That you could find Mew under a truck behind the S.S. Anne cruise ship. The problem was, you needed the HM moves Cut and Surf, which you get waaaay later in the game, and even after getting said moves, the ship moves away after going through it, and the entrance you could go through using Surf is completely blocked. The option was to trade for a pokémon with those moves before entering the ship, but again, you need to have the badges needed to use the moves, I think. Years later, someone managed to get to the truck, I forget how, and legend debunked: Mew was not under the truck.

The "Squall is dead" theory might have some validity if Squall were always in the party. There are a few instances where events are told from outside of Squall's POV (the missile base, the active party while Squall is in space). God...Herobrine...literally one of the main reasons I REFUSE to play singleplayer in minecraft...I STILL refuse to play to this day even if its "fake"
In the teaser or demo screens of the arcade game Wizard of Wor the wizard says that if you defeat him he will give you his treasure. Everyone agreed that this must mean that the arcade console would dump its cache of quarters if you defeated the wizard. One day I actually managed that feat. The screen went crazy and it reset to the first level without giving me any quarters.
I like Number 19, Number 18, Number 16, Number 14, Number 8, Number 7, Number 3 and Number 2.
