@@dotpls While you do have a good point, I'm pretty sure the Switch was considered the fastest selling console of all time when it first launched. The only thing that stopped it from selling more than it did is how hard they were to find throughout the whole 2017.

And notice I said they're "winning a war they're not even *trying* to compete in". Not, that they're "winning a war they aren't competing in."
You can directly see Xbox and PlayStation competing with each other, with both trying to one up the other with better hardware, more exlusive features, and games. Nintendo isn't really doing that with other companies, they're just making games. In fact Microsoft is even supporting Nintendo in a lot of cases.
You need to read and think a second before writing a response.

hello, on my channel I show the history of Playstation, I show the most played games in the world and the biggest airlines, everything gave a more lively form.
Nobody is probably gonna pay attention to this, but the track that plays throughout the video is from the UA-cam Audio Library...it's called "Pisco Sour".
At first glance, I thought, "How can sales of any console actually decrease?"
Then I realized, "Oh, these are sales pertaining to each individual month!"
I don’t understand why that metric was chosen for this chart. Lifetime sales makes way more sense.
Edit: I guess it’s a good metric of showing momentum. And in my bias for the 360, I wanted it to be shown how long it took the PS3 to catch up in total sales. Lol

2015 and was the only year a pokemon game didn't come out. The PSvita was an underrated bit of kit. Nintendo perfected that form factor with the Switch by having detachable controls and allowing docking to play on a big screen. Apple, if they were smart enough, would design a controller for their iPads and dominate the mobile gaming industry. Especially if said controllers had their Taptic Engine tech and were also compatible with their iPhones as well.

They have better marketing and appeal to a wider audience, plus they have a more notable history compared to their competitors. Easily the biggest influence on their sales, though, are exclusives. PS and XB do have their exclusives, but they have twice as many games that are on other platforms, like PC. What they both lack is an IP with the staying power of Mario. The XBOX comes close with Halo, but the inconsistent quality of recent titles and the core audience being mostly hardcore gamers dooms it from ever rising close to Nintendo's status. The PlayStation arguably has the most variety when it comes to exclusives, but unlike their competitors, have been unable to find a single IP that best represents them.
Think about this way: a person who has a very limited knowledge of games usually starts conversations about them with Mario. Maybe, if provoked, they'll bring up GTA, but not before Mario. Mario's also more than a game: it's merchandise, music, breakfast cereal, a pop culture icon and, if you have an affinity for bad movies, a film. When you say Mario to a stranger, they think of a plumber in red. Now, try doing the same with Master Chief or Nathan Drake.
This isn't to say Nintendo is the superior platform; they've always placed their bets on enjoyable games over impressive technology. They know how to roll a ball well, but their boulders will never stand out due to size. Their appeal may not be limited, but their scope sure is. Where they do innovate is in the gimmicks department. Usually, they play out well and are successful. Sometimes, they're the Wii U. There's a reason the PS Vita outsold that thing at one point, believe me. And don't even get me started on the Virtual Boy! When a new Nintendo console comes out that isn't eye-searingly painful to use or underwhelming in its implementation, it's more interesting than whatever Sony or Microsoft usually doll out to their conference stages. Even their less out-there systems, namely the Gamecube and Switch, feel special in their own unique ways.
While Nintendo's scope may be limited out of habit, it's hard to deny how influential their work has been. Without the NES, the video game industry may as well have been buried with all of those ET cartridges; the N64 had a bevy of titles that would go onto inspire other influential titles (most notably, Goldeneye); and their support of indies early on with WiiWare played a tiny, but still somewhat substantial, role in popularizing the steadily growing scene.
This all isn't to suck Nintendo off. If you want to talk about their glaring faults, I could be here all day, but rest assured: there's a reason they're usually on top.

Derpy Chicken I love my ps2 and still use it. My PSP is second with me using it till I lost h the charger cable. My Xbox one has been good to me being very reliable and quiet, but just doesn’t give me that X factor in forza that gt has.
Overall ps2 was the generation of racing games.
The real Best sellers are who don't see Wii u for marketing. And who respect Xbox, Playstation and nintendo

Nintendo devices are usually portable and targeted towards kids, i think it's less about having a superior console/games, and more about having another target audience. Most childless adults i know have a ps4/pc as a primary, then a switch for like, two exclusives.
