    We make a small profit off of sales using our links. We appreciate your support as these funds go back into building the channel.
    Today I look at the new co2 controller from Inkbird the ICC-500t. We look at how to setup and program the CO2 controller, which admittedly took me a bit to figure out. The instructions are a bit confusing on first read so I hope this video is helpful for anyone looking to use and set the timer on this specific inkbird controller. By the end of the video it is our hope that you will have a full understanding of how to use the product to best suit your needs.
    There are several different ways to use the co2 controller but the main purpose is to control the co2 concentration in your grow tent and indoor garden when supplementing with added co2.

    That's a very helpful video there. It saves me some time in having to learn all this through trial and error as I just don't have the time to find all this out the hard way, as you probably did. So cheers for that. I just have two questions I'm hoping you can set straight for me.
    1. What determines what times these segments start? On your chart the first segment starts at 7 am yet I don't see anything in the instructions showing that? It does say to press down for two seconds while TR 1 is displayed to start everything from the beginning of segment one. Is that what you did? Otherwise - how do you just start a particular segment at a particular time?
    2. Can you just put it on continuous timer (TR 0) and just hook it up to the same timer as your light and solenoid? That would save you from the hassle of the setup as well as ensure that the CO 2 starts working at the *exact* same time as the lights. Do the settings still stay the same if it's turned off or do you have to redo it all because it resets? Will it work with a timer, in other words?

      Oh boy its been a few mi uses since i played with this unit.. lol Just set your first segment to when you want it to start or lights on. If that's 10pm at night then so be it. First segment is start. but yes if you put it in continuous more you could use a regular timer and run it that way.

      @@downwithprohibition7364 Thanks for the reply, mate. Much appreciated. So if I understood correctly, it only knows what time it is because you put in what time segment it currently is? So that you can’t set a specific time but only work in these two hour blocks? Did you end up waiting for it to be a specific time just so that you can set it up to start same time as your lights? Because it only gives you these two hour blocks to work with, you’d have to wait around to set it accurately, no?
      Also - so it definitely won’t reset when the timer switches it off and will still go back to the same set value when on?
      I appreciate you helping us out here. I’m about to lose a lot of my crop if I do this wrong because my dehumidifier broke. Long story. Thanks again, bud 👍🏼

      @Ivares Kesner I set mine up at lights on time to make it easier so I didn't have to wait for it to roll around. When I first set this up i also found it really confusing that there was no place to enter the time. But as long as you setup your segments to have 24 hours you're set.. To answer your other question, I had mine unplugged for a week and it still had my timers set so I think you should be alright to lose power for a short period like 6 to 12 hours.

      @@downwithprohibition7364 That sounds promising, mate. Thanks for that. I think I’ll just plug it into the timer and have it turn on along with the light and the solenoid. That way the light and the co 2 will turn on simultaneously. And the only downside will be that it will be off at lights out so I won’t see the nighttime PPM. Which doesn’t matter anyway. Sounds like the better option. Here’s hoping the 12 hours off each day won’t reset it Thanks again 👍🏼

      You will get it my friend. Maybe I made my video more complicated than I needed to be... The easiest way to get it going is to make 2 segments. one segment for 12 hours at your preferred co2 level ss an example 1400ppm.. Segment 2 run time 12 hours lower co2 to a ultra low 400ppm so that it won't kick on. Thats if your running 12 /12 just adjust the times if you are in veg to 18/ 6 .....

    I got this unit today and it was very easy to set up with this video. I use it in a grow room with various tents and a 4 burner propane generator, the sensor is VERY slow to change and at resting over 300 ppm different from an independent CO2 monitor, the Inkbirdplus. When CO2 concentrations are dropping, there is a huge lag on the controller in comparison to the Inkbirdplus. I’ve run the Inkbirdplus next to an Autopilot F90, and they pretty well measured equally. I wonder if this is a defective sensor..

    • @downwithprohibition7364
      @downwithprohibition7364  2 роки тому

      Yeah well it does read pretty slow i will say that. You can calibrate the meter to match up with your other meter. There could be up to a 5% error rate but a 300ppm difference exceed that. Check with inkbird and see what they have to say but you may have a defective sensor there.

    Okay guys... this dude has explained everything really well here, but he appears to have missed out one very important key aspect in setting this up, via the ultra confusing 🤔 instruction book written in Chinese English!. A few dudes including myself have posed the question being, how on earth do we actually find the real current time reference in order to ascertain exactly where our chosen segment starts?... as this device has no actual RTC (Real Time Clock) setting. Looking at this video as an example, it illustrates here that segment 1 is 7am - 9am. So if we want our cycle of Co2 to begin at that actual time, then how do we get the unit to start at that specified time & segment number... right?. Well here is the answer, the 12 segments begin at whatever time you initiate your chosen segment to begin selected in SSt, regardless of the illustrated times given here. These are only for reference or guideline purposes, as it is whatever we want it to be. So as an example, if you want your Co2 cycle to begin at say 9am, then all you need to do is this. At 9am real time or your current time zone, simply initiate your first segment by pressing & holding the set button on the front of the controller for approx 3 secs until the display begins to flash. Then go to the SSt option with repeated short presses of the set button & select your chosen starting segment setting number with the up or down arrow buttons, then press & hold the set button for 3 seconds on your chosen number until the display stops flashing. Whatever actual time you do this, (press & hold the set button for 3 seconds on SSt option) will be the exact beginning or start time of your chosen segment number in SSt. Then the remaining 11 segments will automatically follow on in sequence from there. It's as 'simple' (not) as that folks! 😄I hope this helps all those pulling their hair out 😖 over these mega confusing illogical settings!. Cheers🍻 everyone.

      @downwithprohibition7364  3 роки тому +5

      Yes you are correct they have made some changes to the units and now the B01 is the recommended product for greenhouses and agriculture. I am not sure if they ran in to issues with the S01 model I currently have or what. I was told from the rep that the S01 was good for up to %75 but now it seems that both the S01 and the B01 are rated for 80% humidity. At the time believe the B01 was rated even higher than 80plus and now they are both 80% Leaves me a bit puzzled on the actual difference now between the 2 sensors. Maybe with the B01 being sealed up so well the readings were just far too slow, not sure why it was bumped down . I am going to reach out to my friend who works there and see if I can't get more info. I will update my description when I know more.

    This is a fantastic video, we bought one of these for our florist's cooler and the instructions are nearly unintelligible. Inkbird should be paying you for clarifying their poor attempt at instructions; we were about to send ours back because we couldn't figure out why it was so unstable or how even tell what was set on it and what wasn't.
    The instructions strike me as written by one of the engineers that worked on the unit and the low level programming, so they probably make sense to them, but are just about useless for your average person that doesn't work in their cryptic naming conventions daily. It's a real failure and personally I wouldn't buy anything else from that company based on that alone. I don't have a lot of time to spend fiddling with this stuff, I just need it to work and move on to my next task.

    • @galaxion62
      @galaxion62 Рік тому

      Ok... what you need to do is set the controller so that your preset target PPM is LOWER than the actual current Co2 level displayed. Then the work 2 will trip in. Also make sure that the CD setting (work 2 difference) is at a low value. This is because the controller adds the CD setting value to your current PPM level. So as an example, if current preset PPM is at 400 PPM & CD value is set to 50, then the controller will only activate work 2 when the current displayed PPM level is at 450... i.e. 400 current + the 50 value stored in the CD setting option. Hope this helps, cheers.

    If one needs a dedicated instructional video done by a third party to setup a simple device that tells a lot about the company who manufactured this POS. No thanks 🤮
