Amazing how real photographers know their stuff….unlike now chasing the latest and greatest …..the last 2 images with this set up are telling the tale.
Your video was exactly what I was looking for. I also have the same Quantum Battery from the 1980's and have wanted to repair but was too scared to open it up. Your video will save me lots of $$$. Thanks.
Hi from the Northern Neck of Virginia! I have several Quantum Turbos that I've recelled at least 5 times over the years. Love these even in the digital age. Lots of my old film gear just became my hot-stuff lighting gear for my mirrorless (my personal kit). It's amazing what we can do with Vivitar 285s still. I love how young photographers are like...how do we do it without auto-ttl? Red Mode! f/8!!
Cool video, thank you. I use a 285 with PocketWizard along with my Elinchrom Ranger and thought about adding a used Quantum for more power. Now I'm confident I could do it.
Thanks for the video , I have a Quantum Battery 2 which stopped working after laying in storage for a long time(5 years). I tried to send it to Quantum Instruments but they said they didn't service Battery 2 anymore. I did send them my 2 battery 1+ which they do service. While watching your video I noticed the Cyclon batteries so I did a search on the company and ordered (4) 2.5Ah 2 volt d cells.exactly like the originals which is what the Battery 2 use. I have a couple of Metz potato mashers I want to pair these up with. By the way the old batteries looked like they were all leaking.
Doing that way & connection will not increase quick recycle time. But it does save the weights. ATG/Quantum have better models, Quantum Turbo and so on. You can change the battery on these also.
I have a quantum battery 2. Im hoping I can find a way to hook it up to an Yongnuo YN560 IV speedlight. The connector is a CZ2 for the power input. I can't find anything that will fit the Quantum Battery 2 and feed the power into the CZ2 input which is the same input as modern Canon speedlights.
Peter Krogh /or anyone that has ATG's Vivitar 283/285/285HV. Are they still working? Anyone has one that fires at full power in all setting & know a fix, rather than guessing? ATG's assisted & started making battery packs for working photographers: ATG's Turbo Battery Pack series are HV that is connected by cable onto flash's HV Port = faster recycles ATG's Battery 1 has 6V, fits many flashes having 4AA batteries (you will need a correct battery cable) ATG's Battery 2 has 9V fits many ATG's Metz & Sunpak having 6AA batteries Since they were very costly to renew the patents, ATG/Quantum didn't renew. Then many staff were let go & got sold. Anyone still has/have & still using one of ATG's powerhouse flashes? 1. ATG Gold 60CT-4r 2. Metz 60CT-4 3. ATG Gold QFlash T2r 4. Quantum QFlash T2 5. Excelente video Peter. Tengo dos baterías muertas. Buscaré el reemplazo y la volveré a poner en funcionamiento.

I've replaced the battery packs in my Quantum Battery 1+ before. I've had the packs since 98'. LOL
make a new box and put the quantum electronics with a 6v 4,5 ah and you have 2x the capacity with cheaper battery around 10 !!!
Grateful advise what the PSU/charger voltage (AC or DC) and amperage should be. In order to replace lost one ...
i have this quantum battery 2! need it replaced! how to do it?
nice job. i am looking for battery cells for quantum turbo sc.

How do you find the date, I looked at the bottem but it seems coded?
