I literally ruminate all day from when I wake up to when I go to sleep

    • @heart_towards_home

I find that when I'm really going through a tough spot with my ocd, how I wake and begin my day is critical. If my ocd has been really bad, when I wake up, it hits me immediately like a horrible ton of bricks. And if I lay there for ANY length of time, (which is easy to do since I'm groggy) I will start ruminating, and it will make the rest of the day worse. I have to force myself to almost jump out of bed(like literally I've done this) and do things- anything rather than lay there. It's no guarantee that I won't worry all day, but if I lay there at all and let my brain go, it will definitely be bad. I hope this helps.

Get a tally counter. Trust me. Every time your mind drifts, click the counter. at that moment you become the observer of the thought instead of being lost in it. It takes time but stick with it

Are you "sticking with it"? Do you have your OCD symptoms under control reliably?
      sincere questions, btw

That is okay, it is not going to stop right away. It will take time. Give yourself a month. Work on this for a month every day every minute and you'll see the results. It is hard but really doable. I've done this! You can too!

I suggest we do a session to go over your situation and create an action plan, it's not realistic for me to give you an action plan through UA-cam comments.

Hey Ali, got a question for you please.. Is forcing out our thoughts after the initial OCD FEAR pops in our head, the best approach? For example, let's say this bad OCD thought pops in my head. I can say "yeah whatever" to the though in my head and try to continue what I was doing or thinking originally? Or is saying yeah whatever to that initial fear a compulsion? Im so confused on what to do after I get that initial fear in my head. I find if I just let it be and focus on it without reacting, I get way more sub thoughts like. - "What if it gets worse" "What if im reacting wrong" "what if it's stuck forever" and it just floods me over and over until I cry or have a panic attack.... Im not sure if that's me ruminating or OCD. I'm always better if I just force everything out after the initial fear pops in my head. Does this make sense. Please help!
