    I'm a former flight nurse and paramedic and current avid camper. I've spent hundreds of hours in an ambulance...but this is the BEST use for one that I could imagine! The medic sits in the swivel chair at the head of the patient and needs to be able to reach all of the equipment and supplies. I love how you've adapted that efficient design into your home life. It seems very calming to have your belongings stored in such an orderly fashion. Chatty side note....the locked cabinet was for narcotics, etc. You both seem like very lovely people. I hope to meet you along the way someday.

      Agreed. Safe is for narcotics. ~retired medic

      Isn't it kind of cool to see an old workhorse like this doing something besides riding away in a junk yard or being converted into a construction truck?

      Yup. Medic x14 years. "Safe" is for narcotics.

    Awesome build! I'm an Emt and have been wanting to do something like what you guys did! You guys gave me some great ideas! Thank you. On another note. Hopefully you guys completely cleaned out the back of the ambulance! The back of ambulances are very dirty! In aspect of very sick people and bloodborne pathogens. We in ems joke all the time that we wouldn't eat off the counters or floor if food where to drop on them.

    I'm a retired Paramedic. That locked compartment (safe) is where we kept our controlled substances such as morphine and valium. My wife and I have been considering buying an ambulance to use as a camper and have been watching videos like yours to get ideas. Looks like you're having fun.

    The ambulance has incredible storage and electrical units already baked in. If you're creative, a great vehicle to work on as a camper. The bar at the top is for hanging fluids to give to patients as well as for balance as someone has already stated. The fact that it is used to rescue people is far better karma than to worry about who may have died.

    Hei man! I am from Portugal and I discoverd you a few monthes ago. You are great. It is rare to find a chanel capable of charing the same content over and over and neves get bored. Keep doing your amazing Job. You are very insparing and a true film maker. Peace and love.

    • @zepedromartins7415
      @zepedromartins7415 6 років тому

    • @zepedromartins7415
      @zepedromartins7415 6 років тому +1

      John Stromboly you are right. The business of fire is a problem in my country. The government is constantly trying to take measures to "improve" the forests. But the true is that there are people that lose their home and belongings just because certein business man put millions and millions of euros in their pockets. It is what it is. But I believe that this is going to change in a near future. The people have open their eyes. I hope to see on day to this channel in Portugal...

    The little compartment just inside the side door that you are referring to as the 'safe' was the drug box, and that's why it has a lock on it. Mine also has a flex duct connecting it to the A/C unit to help keep the drugs cool.

    an ambulance is an emergency room on wheels. the seat is called a "jump seat" and we call the closets "compartments." they are great rigs and not easy to come by. 4 wheel drive is awesome, many don't have that.

    It sure does look fun to travel around live minimalistic.... however I have too much stuff that I cannot imagine getting rid of. And I do like the convenience of going to the bathroom and flushing it and not having to think about it and taking a hot shower....So there’s really just the three things that holds me back.
