For everything Ellefson went through with Mustaine, its amazing Dave just treated him like a hired gun when he came back to the band and accused him of poaching a song. Great to see them younger here. RIP Nick.

It does raise questions about just how deep and genuine their brotherhood was in the first place. I don’t claim to know the intimate details. But it is sad to see Junior abandoned so coldly and abruptly.

Megadeth was an will always be a dictatorship it really is the Dave mustaine project. I know ellefson Friedman and Nick had some input on the 4 albums they were a part of but we all know who the boss was. Nick did come up with the conceptual ideas for hangar 18 and countdowns title track.

I love Dave, but sometimes I wish I could slap him. I hope he's giving his current bandmates a better treatment. I wonder how the hell he still finds musicians willing to work for him, despite his reputation as being a difficult person to deal with. The musicians salaries might be off the charts or they are just desesperate to win some bucks and gain more experience.

this shows how dave really tried to make the band an actual megadeth band and not Dave Mustaine's Ego Project Band. But, as Ellefson said after Nick and Marty parted ways with Megadeth it was pretty much it and at the end of the day dave's ego muscled its way through and sadly it did became a Dave Mustaine Ego Project Band with a pretty boy playing lead guitar.

This was the best Megadeth lineup (Friedman, Menza) and that is saying a lot mainly because IMO Poland! Gar I could take or leave, Poland was an extremely unique catch! Kiko has been the absolute best fit since Marty left. Say what you want about Mustaine but he is a monstrous player who has attracted some of the best musicians ever! \m/

In all fairness he was very upfront about that when he reformed Megadeth for The System Has Failed. Had his management and recording contract allowed he would have shelved the name all together. During the RIP lineup era it was very much a band though. I guess when it really became a revolving door it kinda forced Dave to put his arms around it so tight he strangled it.

I feel like if Megadeth had been Dave, Junior, Chris and Nick it would’ve been perfect. Like in 2010, on the RIP 20th tour. Because Holy Wars and Take No Prisoners were written with Chris in the band, and Polaris had Chris’ solos. Plus, Polaris and Hangar 18 were probably played with Chris back in the early early days.

See this is when Mustaine looked at David as his equal partner in the band. It took until after the injury and political bullshit for him to switch his attitude to him. Yeah Ellefson tried to sue but I think it was more at the management of the band but Mustaine took it as a personal attack. We don't know the details so we can't comment. Megadeth now is nowhere near as progressive as the limits this line up pushed!!! Good music yes but there's a lot of the original Megadeth soul missing these days to me as a fan of over 30 years!!!

What a ironic interview. Now I know why ( other than the obvious lineup changes) those 4 made arguably the best music together. The fact someone other than Mustaine made decisions in the studio. Of course he had to go back and remix a whole catalog because he wanted his ideas back on all of it. Essentially ruining legendary material. No argument that he has had awesome players and his current lineup is stellar.
Unfortunately the charisma of "Rust" only happens once to most bands. No doubt like so far, Peace, and every recording after Cryptic there are some good moments but NOTHING that will compare to Rust,Countdown, Youthanasia. Hidden Treasures.
    His voice is shit.
    His playing is sloppy.
    That new L.P. sucks!
Mr Ellifson, if you read this, be glad to be out.
Does anybody think " police truck" is a classic?

It's a shame Dave mustaine is so up himself , it must have been hard work being in a band with such a control freak , all the contracts that banned band members from smoking a bit of weed or sniffing a bit of smurf dandruff , as long as the band members can do their job exactly as they have been contracted to do it shouldn't matter what partying people did , I can imagine feeling like I wanted to walk from the band many times because of D.M s immature, venomous attitude towards anyone who didn't do as he told them to , I don't know why nick left ( gutted he did) but we all know DM would have been the main reason )
I'll still always dislike Dave for not allowing nick to come back shortly before the big four thing , I think it's a c***s trick to put that on the table for nick, the fact that Dave wanted to pay nick an extremely low amount of money and no retainer is a glimpse into what a self obsessed guy Dave is , great guitarist , great band ( when nick and Marty were in it) but one arse hole of a fella ,I'm glad nick walked from the reunion , it must have cut deep ,but he had to say no especially when you know just how low the financial rewards for coming back were , very nasty of Dave to treat the possible return of the best drummer megadeth ever had in such a way where he chose to try and demean nick and insult him by making such low offers in the first place,
Nick will always be remembered by us for being megadeths best drummer and a really funny lad who liked to party when he could , rip nick menza megadeths one true original sounding drummer .
