Cool review as usual; I agree with most of the points you brought up, in particular about the Augurtek being the most useful techno-hunter sub-type due to the 12'' no-infiltrate/reinforcements bubble. That said, since Techno-hunters are Van Saar Specialists with no restrictions on what weapons they can use, you don't have to restrict the Guntek to a measly Longlas - it could be a Lascannon on a body with Refractor cloak, parked somewhere high, in cover and never moving for -3/-4 to hit them back... As for the awful combi-flamer, it has its positives: since its rules are so bad, you can snip-off the flamer/clamp front bit and kit-bash it into a useful Heavy weapon held with both hands (personally I don't like the Van Saar's general heavy weapon shortened design to fit 'on one shoulder', so this provides you with a new Heavy weapon Champion pose/body and you just have to rework the weapon to attach the barrel/muzzle of a better heavy gun). Keep up the good work and cheers! :)
Thanks for the quality and regular content, Damon. I’ve only recently got back into Necromunda after a 25 year hiatus and find your videos very helpful
Mancatcher should be versatile 1", lose the unstable, and get knockback to push them monsters back! Then I'd consider it worth the cost! Personally I would allow any Van Saar gang to start with a Tek Hunter instead of their normal starting Specialist, and after that I would allow them to purchase them with the standard limitation of 2 each. Let people have cool things! Letting people have cool things is why I reduced the cost of Wyld Bows in my campaigns to 5 credits, changed the rules for scrap shields to simply give a parry (but take up a hand in CC), and count Pysychoteric Whispers as Telepathy for the purposes of BoO Discipline bonus rules.
I love the long las and cloak option. gonna try to convince my arbitrator to allow that one at least. Mostly i just wanted more aesthetic options for my Van Saars. Tek Hunters just look great.
I think the idea of this box is super super fun, but would have loved some zombie like tech thralls and odd machine bots for certain sections of the vault.
When i first saw these guys i thought the man-catcher was a combi rockcutter+flamer. Only 2A on a charge but could have been the best melee option for the van saar.
i'm curious as to whether they're gonna expand out the specialist thing into all the houses - could you have a delaque doc-specialist or a goliath comms/scanner specialist(but under the existing restriction of a single specialist at creation) Or even more interesting/assymetric things that fit the house theme- maybe orlocks don't have docs but do have some sort of mechanic specialist
I'm still stuck on loadouts for the 2 player campaign... I don't want to build any story regular Lasguns as I've already got 4 from my regular gang. My main question is about spreading out the special equipment. The build instructions put the augurspex and vox on a single augurtek and the medicar kit/servo-med on a single biotek. I'm currently spreading them across two each.
You don't need them all. I'd not bother with the vox but definitely take the augurspex and skip the medicae kit and just take the Servo for example. Lasguns at close range ain't amazing and everything is at reduced visibility. Youre better up loading up on Las subcarbines and as many templates and close range firepower that deals damage as you can
@wellywoodwargaming That was my logic, but kitbashing to get as many lascarbines as possible is proving a nuisance! I'm going to run the grabber and rad just for theme (I'll really only use them in the intro campaign) Flavour is a big decider with the hunters tbh... I intend to use the campaign as an intro for friends.
Subcarbines would be better and they can be in the holster so no need to kitbash. Also theu can be used in cc, which you are likely to get stuck in from time to time
Im thinking that underdog players could roll to randomly get one of these guys for a game. Idea being they just came across them in their delving. Full hive secundus rules.
My take is the Mamcatcher should lose Unstable on the flamer and gain Pulverise on the melee profile. And a proper strength, too, obviously. 4 or 5 maybe?
Just the question from a total noob: I have hive secundus box and want to buy the spyrer box as well. Can i play the book of desolations campaign with the 3 gangs i would have (malstrain, spyrers, van saar). For these van saar to be a "normal" legal team all i need is to declare one as a gang leader and i can keep the rest as tekhunters? And for the whole ferryman group would i need special models? Or could i repurpose some guardsman and a chimera for that job?
Can we just talk about photo lumens real quick? Does anyone buy them? I can't see them being worth 15 creds. At longer ranges, they just make your fighters visible in the dark. They are niche item, used only part of the time. Putting one on a fighter just feels like a waste. 5-10 creds feels way more viable to me, anyone else think they are overpriced?

Thanks for the data transmission. The signal down here in the lower hive means we miss some of what happens outside the lower hive.

💯
I use the refraction cloak long las combo in my Delaque gang and it is awesome

Ive been saving this video in tab since it dropped, finally getting around to it 2 weeks ! later.
Nice video, a lot of good info!
Thanks for the vid!!!
Great video. I'm currently building my SumpCon list and I'm definitely going to try and squeeze a couple in for flavour
Cheers brother! Hope you're well?
Hail all

Yeah its exciting to see what is yet to come in secundus
as long we know what rule's is for secundus there no reason why we cant play them out side

Yep that all seems good. The van saar could be an incursion gang led by one of the spare spyrers too perhaps?
Happy to know I'm not the only one that thinks the combi mancatcher/flamer is garbage. 🤣
It really is though 💩
@@wellywoodwargaming rivels the heavy flamer 🤣

They would be normally, but in the reduced visibility they're alright
Mancatcher rules are poorly done but I do enjoy the look of the model.
Oh yeah it looks ace
