    I've listened critically to a dozen or more interconnect cables, and a viewer on my channel suggested the purple colored Oyaide Class S, and I found them to be the cleanest and clearest cable I have heard, although I believe this cable has been discontinued, and I was buying the last ones the suppliers had in stock.

      Bro flat cables gave a flashy sound but it gets tiring after some time

    • @SpeakerBuilder
      @SpeakerBuilder 2 роки тому +5

      @@IDontExist14 Of course that experience depends entirely on the rest of the system in question. With my system, I found that to be true with Audioquest Ruby cable I purchased in '05. The Oyaide cables actually fixed the problem. You really have to match the components together, just as a speaker manufacturer has to match the various drivers and crossover components together to attain the target tonal character.

    Oyaide are absolutely great. Their "highest end" cables - are substantially great.

    Hello!
    I got a suggestion to all, if you’re interested.
    Take your favorite RCA cables and use an RCA to 1/4” adapter jacks in those cables. Either you or someone you know with a electric guitar, use those cables as a guitar cable. On a clean sound, not distortion, play the guitar through your cable and listen to the change in tone, clarity, noise, volume, EQ, and whatever you notice.
    Whatever sounds best as a guitar cable with sound best as an interconnect cable.
    It works. It’s easier to hear the low end, midrange, and treble.
    No joke, seriously it works!
    For myself, Mogami 2524 is still my baseline to judge all unbalanced cables.

    I admit Ricable Primus RCA interconnect is far better than others I own (rca to rca) in the same price range. The sound is more smooth without losing details. I'm also very Happy with Supracable EFF-XLR and the phono cable from the same brand.

    This was a much-needed video and Mr. 'Anadialog ' did a great job. Most audiophile reviewers shy away from this subject because it is highly controversial and can be overwhelming because there is so many options to choose from. This video is very practical and honest and comes from a true audiophile and someone who probably spent $$$$ (way too much) searching for the right cables. So, I want to thank you (on behalf of all your audience and myself) for being so bold as to come out and pick a few favorites for us. We owe you, man! As a Canadian, I am impressed we have a good cable in the Zavfino (I never heard of it)! But, as human nature goes, I want to try the imported Italian cables (and the Italians probably want the imported Canadian cables). I am also impressed that I already own 2 pairs of Oyaide ClassA (orange) cables. The truth is I threw out so many cables (including expensive Cardas, etc) but I kept these based on the sound quality - I truly liked the sound I was getting from the Oyaide cables - so I was very impressed when these cables were selected for this video. Thanks again!

      Wow Tony, thanks for such a nice, hearted and honest comment. Cables are always a problem but after putting out videos on how to do them by your own I felt it was time to take a side and give some suggestions. Yes, you definitely need to check out your Zavfino cables...the technology involved is outstanding! Haha! It is very true...we always look for the imported piece of gear or something rare.

      Update: Sound test: SO here's de looooong version... I was looking for a good IC cable to replace my CD-PRE actual cable which is too short for the rearrangement I did on the layout of my audio equipment, so based on your video I ordered the Class S 2 meter cable... long enough. So a couple of hours ago when I posted the comment above I thought it would be a better idea to replace not the CD cable but the TT to phono stage cable which was the "poorest quality", "stock" cable that was bundled with my Technics SL1210GR - BAD IDEA!!! I was in panic, a terrible interference noise in the line, volume at zero... WTF???? this is terrible! huge regrets buying this cable, where does this all come? I measured impedance of the cable, I knew this shouldn´t be a problem, so it had to be with shielding? or the absense of, so people be warned! So I changed my old CD cable to the TT, it was fine, no "noise", and fitted the Oyade on the CD-PRE... Bottom line: I think my ignorance, I should never have used a 2m cable between the TT and the phono preamp, I guess; and the oyade Class S on my CD is fantastic, dark background and fantastic clarity, a noticeable improvement! Huuuffhhhh... :-)

    • @ThePSMA
      @ThePSMA 4 роки тому +3

      Update 2: Revisited the subject, don´t really convinced with my experimentation above. So I put the Oyaide on the Phono-Preamp (instead of TT-Phono) and its great, quiet and with excellent dynamics and clarity, very very good. So I pull back my comments on the shielding, maybe something else was messing and/or is really the lenght/sensitivity of the connection that was making the interference - happy now, thanks!

      Thanks Paulo for your comments, you saved my life! I've been on a constant headache since yesterday, when I connected my 1200GR to my phono stage with a 2m Neo d+ class S cable (and the phono stage to the amp with an 1m of the same brand and class). Some months ago I saw this video and since then this cable was my choice till yesterday that I could purchase a set of 1m and 2m. Once my soundsystem was connected, a horrible background noise was present, just what happened to you. I felt so miserable and stupid for wasting so much money in useless over hyped cables...! But some minutes after reading your comments, I have changed the cables (1m for TT-phono Stage and 2m for Phono stage-amp) and voilà! The noise is gone! I must say this cable is really good, however, I think the connector jacks are not properly isolated because still a very low hum is audible if I raise (very high) the volume. On the other hand, something tells that there's no a big leap between class S and A, which is much cheaper.... Thank you, thank you for healing my hi-fi paranoia!

    I have been using the Oyaide class B and class A cables for a year or so now, they are the best cables I have... I do not have a ton of expensive ones, honestly I just stopped looking after I found these. I also use their USB cables. To my ears they have distinctly different sounds. The class B is warmer, more musical, the class A ones are very refined Japanese style sound. For my current setup the class B stuff is my favorite, often I use the class A from the transistor only outs from my DAC, and the class B from the Tube output of the DAC. Technical accurate clean and pure for the class A and the soul of Tubes with the class B was my setup with a different set of speeakers, right now it's all the class B. So you can move it around, change things up.

    The idea is to keep the set-up evenly balanced! If it's a mediocre setup well one may as well as go with mediocre cables but if what happens to have a quality setup IMO quality cables are a must.
    Quality cables doesn't make the system sound better but what it does do is provide the path for the system to sound its best.
    Best thing I ever did was take the punt and swap my £45 audioquest black lab RCA's the more expensive chord shawline RCA's. It was if I was hearing my stereo Rel subwoofers for the first time.

    Having sold cables for 20 plus years. More is spent on packaging than the cable at retail. Also Chinese cables are fine also but the quality varies and corners are cut. You need to align yourself with a brand that has quality assurance. Example Kimber or Audio Quest or Wire world. Note cable margins at retail are 80 to 125 percent.

    $30-$40 cables are a pretty fair return on investment. I have been using Audioquest Evergreens and they easily sound better than the crummy red/white ones you get when you buy a component. The only way I'll ever spend more is if I need balanced connections for something.

    The best reason to spend the money for decent cables isn't about how they "sound." It's about durability, corrosion resistance, and connection security. The give-away cables we get boxed with consumer hi-fi gear are often pretty bad in durability and connection terms, but they rarely corrode (at least visibly) and they carry the signal. In short, they work until they stop working, and if they get manipulated a lot, they tend to stop working. I buy a variety of oxygen-free copper RCA interconnects in the $30-50 range for my primary system with, for me, expensive components. For everything else, a step up from in-the-box is good enough. For basic use, I build my own speakers cables using oxygen-free 16 or 14-ga single element primary wire, a black one and a red one, running together through a braided polyethylene sleeve. It's inexpensive, durable, and perfectly workable.

    Good to hear that somebody open the subject on the so called "can of worms" about cables. They do make a difference but are system dependent I feel. I noticed that all your cables were very heavy shielded with Teflon and/or plastics. Do try Anti-cables from the US. A completelyI different approach. I buy them second hand to get an acceptable price. The only shielding on them are an ultra-thin red laquer. I believe that the capacitance is close to non-existing. It's just air around them..
    Improvement from my old high priced plastic cables were : better soundstage, better bass, clearer vocals. My Forte 3's became even more Klpsch-like and forward with these cables.

    Greatest affordable find so far: SOMMER EPILOGUE for 100 EUR per 1m pair and after 100 hours this is the greatest cable I ever used in my system since 20 years.
    Comparable with 5-10x more expensive cables I tried or owned and audibly better than anything below - more details are present in all frequency range, noticeable especially with headphones - connected Violectric 281 or Rega EAR to REGA Elicit-R and... wow!

      @@anadialog Funny is I didn't expected anything from this cable. Just needed additional RCA pair to test with headphone amp which I ordered both from Thomann and this was the only good hifi/mastering option available there (others were like Klotz etc. just terminated with RCA). Sommer is well established within music community as great german made instrumental/studio cables but it seems no one knows about this hi-fi Epilogue ugly looking yellow series as there are no reviews, no posts on boards etc. and they are available since many years.
      I was sure I will just send them back within 30 days as 100 EUR is still a lot but the wow factor is so big that it's a keeper. It brings alive my cheap Rega EAR headphone amp that it is now fuller than before, almost "blanket out" effect. Rega with this cable for my ears is more pleasant to listen to than Violectric V281 (which is ofcorse better but too perfect/sterile to just enjoy music). Now Epilogue replaces Rega Duet RCA (same price) and Tellurium blacks (costs 3x more here). I also tested Epilogue comparing to some prototype "mil spec mumbo jumbo" very heavy and thick cable which will cost an arm an leg when it will be released or Tellurium ultra and for my ears they all performed the same.
      Will check the Oyaide S too, as they are simillar priced to Epilogue.

      @@Phoenix_1991 Well. That was a long time ago. I've read Jon Risch article about cable building and had soldered a couple short (0.5 meter) IC cables from the materials from the local shop. Then I went to a local Hi-End electronics dealer with my CDs. Prior to that I have bought from that shop a couple of Rotel sets for a friend of mine. So the salesman already knew me. He let me listen to my cables and the top of the line AudioQuest cables they had in stock via McCormack Micro Integrated amp and some Stax electrostatic headphones. I used RCA splitters at a CD player outputs and ran two sets of cables to two sets of amp inputs that I was switching back and forth with a toggle switch at amp's front panel. So I was trying to hear the difference between different cables. As I recall I've tried 4 sets of homemade Belden cables. With rubber insulation, with "Datalene" insulation, with polyethylene insulation and with teflon insulation. With the later I could not hear the difference between my cable and the Audio Quest Lapis 3 (also teflon insulated but about 5 ft long). So I called the salesman and let him listen to both cables. And he told me the phrase that I still remember: "It seems like you don't need to buy cables anymore."

      @@knightgsv На самом деле, разница в звучании разных межблочных кабелей довольно мала. Я бы сказал, на уровне нюансов. Лучше всего конечно внимательно послушать самому перед покупкой. Но, если Вы сами умеете паять или знаете того, кто умеет, то вполне можно без особых усилий собрать кабели не хуже заводских. Кстати, позже я нашел ещё один кабель от компании Belden (89182), который на мой слух звучит очень неплохо. Он настолько понравился двум продавцам разных магазинов Хай-Энда (в США и России), что они купили у меня по комплекту этих кабелей. Причем, один из продавцов оказался ещё и музыкантом и использует мои кабели для записи композиций своей группы. А с другой стороны, некоторые авторитетные самодельщики из Москвы (участники форума Vegalab) услышали там какие-то искажения. В конечном счете, нужно слушать самому.

    wish I would have seen this before investing into AQ Water.
    I'm curious to give Oyaide d+ S a try, they might even still sound better than AQ water.
    Also, since you advocate power cables influence on sound quality, do you have similar recommendation on power cables that can have audible improvements without breaking the bank?

    • @anadialog
      @anadialog  4 роки тому +1

      In my opinion the best thing it to make them by your self. With power cables you don't even need to solder, just peel the conductors and attach them in a good connector! Here is an example: ua-cam.com/video/qlQXmQlBaVA/v-deo.html
      The important is to use high quality materials like OCC copper and good bulk cable geometry/construction and insulation.

      Also, for rca cables between Arcadia MKII 1877Phono Zavfino and Oyaide Neo D+ S and oyaide pa-02 tr v2 which one you would rather go with today? and between Oyaide Neo D+ S and oyaide pa-02 tr v2 is there going to be much difference, or would you choose one over other?
      And finally how would you think these compare to my already installed AQ Water?
      Thanks!

      No problem for matching. Zavfino are very good, don't like the grip of a the connectors though. The best cables are those made by yourself with neotech occ coppper bulk cables and quality connectors: ua-cam.com/video/u3EPL6hI_H4/v-deo.html

    Hello, I want to really thank you for this video. Based on your recommendations, I bought Neo d+ RCA Class S Audio Cable (purple, 1.0m) from Japan through ebay and I must say they sound way better than every cable I ever had. I am using them between my DAC and my new Elac Navis ARB-51 active speakers. Although these are designed in Japan, they are currently made in China, but they sound great, details, depth, positioning great in all respect.
    Now I need a suggestion from you. I am about to upgrade my DAC and looking forward to buy a pair of XLR cable. I am looking for the absolute best within my budget because probably this will be my last upgrade for while. I am torn apart between two choices - the TUNAMI TERZO XX V2 White XLR and the Audioquest Yukon Series XLR cables which are double the price.
    Could you please help me out choose between them?

    • @anadialog
      @anadialog  2 роки тому

      Don't! You'll kill dynamics. That cable is too long for a single ended cable. Try getting a balanced connection if you can! If just can't then you must make your own from bulk. Otherwise you will spend way to much! I did a video on the topic but you should look for something even cheaper considering the length: ua-cam.com/video/u3EPL6hI_H4/v-deo.html

      @@anadialog I did the test today. I liked the good words from you for the Oyaide cables and I bought the purple ones. I used them from DAC to preamplifier. I left Nordost SPM reference from preamp to amp. Their rival was Nordost red ones - no more in production, I would say the "Red Dawn" is their analogue in quality now. I didn't want to put them against the SPMs. So.... I got my tester as always.... my wife. (I tried long to convince her to do the test but she wouldn't do it till today). Of course I didn't tell her which cable is which and she has no idea about cables, she just listens with me every Saturday.
      Voila! She heard the difference immediately! She told me that the 2nd set (Nordost) had bigger image, more detail, female voices were nearer and more touchy (well not her exact words but she is not in the audiophile i did some little translation).
      Now my verdict: a) Very quiet cable, which was stunning because Nordosts are VERY quiet cables and they were MORE quiet b) Excellent place in organs, better than Nordost (werd), these were the very strong points, c) They lacked the detail of Nordosts BUT they had good detail overall but they lacked the "airness" of Nordosts in the highs, the "silkness" etc d) Lower in dynamics and punch e) A little less bass, e) smaller picture and stage , however see (b).
      I had them 12 hours playing before the test.
      Well that's it.
      System: Symphonic Line RG2 ref preamp, 100W SET pure ClassA monoblocks, SPM reference cables but the DUTs, Focal Arias 948.

      Thank you so much, very interesting! Well, if the Oyaide stranded against the Nodora Heimdall, I still have two pair of them in my system in key points, it's a great result. For maximum quality you must have occ copper and teflon insulation, geometry is then the third element but that has an enormous variety.

    • @anadialog

      I usually don't describe the sound of cables. If the sound is that characterized that means that it is not a good cable since cable should be as neutral as possible.

      Capacitance, inductance and the worse of all, resistance and extremely low values in all our audio cables simply because they are too short. I explained this in detail here: ua-cam.com/video/uVKFSquAhwc/v-deo.html

    30 years of cables leaves me with QED Reference analogue and digital interconnects and speaker cables and Russ Andrews mains cables/blocks and attenuated interconnects. Cables can be real bargains second hand. Just think of a 16 year old power cable as super burnt in. De-oxit all the contacts and they are better than new. Don't forget to unplug all your kit every now and again and reconnect it. Keep all AC mains leads away from signal and DC leads. Listen to good music...

    In addition I would like to mention the SKW Analog interlinks (RCA): cheaper than Oyaide Neo D and cheaper than Ludic. OCC cables for unimaginable low prices: e.g. SKW BGO4 1meter €34,60. Sound: beyond expectations...
    Tried the Oyaide Class A: it's amazing, but imo not as good as the mentioned SKW. The Oyaide Class S should be better (actually OCC) but that's three times the price of SKW.
    Ordered also the Ludic Magica interlink; just to find out for myself what they have to offer; looks certainly very promising....
    At the end of the day all that matters is what we hear for ourselves, right?
