I was married to a western woman, a good woman who honored traditional family values. When we first married we both worked and we both shared responsibilities in the home. After our sons were born we decided that she would stay home and take care of the family. When I got home from work I would gather the boys and give her a break. Women of today don't understand traditional family values and attack filipinas and others because thy don't want to admit they're the problem. I've been in a relationship with a filipina for over 8 years and I love it.
As an American single all my life....I find out late in life the Filipino culture. I wish I knew of it years ago. I have a fiance in New Battaan that is province woman.....wife material!

Having been married to a hard working independent American wife who was great but she died young. I married a Filipina who is incredible. I took a while to get used to her doing much of what I was doing for myself, but I have learned to appreciate all that she does to make me happy. As you stated communicating and working as a team is the answer to getting to understanding each other's cultures, but that is part of the blessings of marriage.

Ismi, I just got back from the Philippines this week. I learned 1st hand about filipino women, culture and some lifestyle choices. Yes, I dated a highly educated nurse and a 2nd grade educated factory worker. I respected both and found no difference in the two. What I did find was how valued they placed their men (if respected) and the love and care they showed by domestic chores handling even without me asking. It just appears to me filipino women accepts the role of caregiver with love. Thanks for opening up and sharing. Trust me American men whose actually visited your country knows first hand the value you bring to the table no matter how educated you are.
Ismi, I noticed you nearly tearing up. Don't let those women bother you. Their message is a huge reason so many western men come to the Philippines looking for love to start with, and frankly why your channel is doing so well. I can't speak for all your subscribers, but I wouldn't be one if I hadn't been offended by the same stuff you are hurt by, and that beautiful pinay in my profile picture. I will still be a subscriber after I get moved. So, try to brush it off. The message those women are screaming, is all inaccurate, and many expats are fed up with western culture.

Im very angry because of the ignorance of Western women. I've experienced 3 american wives so i know what the last 2 lacked. Thats why i married a Filipina last year. I wish i would've found her 40 years ago. Filipinas may be in a so-called third world country, but i find that they're the most caring and intelligent people. My wife won't let me help her with things around the house. She tells me she's the one to do it. Happy you had this subject on your blog. People need to be educated about that subject. You made that right choice fella, I feel the same. My views of British women are: They are so keen to PROVE that they are as good as men, that they act like men get in fights, get drunk, puke in the streets and swear. Filipina woman are what I notice, to be more traditional and religious in there ways, and this is in many countries still, but not as many in the west it seems.
Filipina are incredibly intelligent and hard working and has nothing to do with them being poor. My wife has been OFW a few times, and college educated, a home and small business owner. Roger and Ishmi, I being married to a fabulous filipina here in the US for 25 years, appreciate your honest and candid views that you have expressed. I was also married for 25 years to my first wife, a regular american high school sweetheart. She is a wonderful person. Together we raised 3 exceptional boys. There is a difference between the two, the american was focused a bit more with her professional life whereas with my filipina wife, family is her life. In my first marriage, I was made to feel like I didn't make enough money, I couldn't provide enough for the family. I have never heard that from my filipina wife. She tells me a lot how much she appreciates what I provide. If we go out to dinner, she always says thank you for dinner. That is always nice to hear.

Now for instance in my culture the Modern black woman will find it offensive to bring her man a plate of food, whether you're at the cookout celebration or at home they will consider that demeaning and slavery.

Hi Roger and Ismi, you are right. Most modern western women are like that. They want equality. In my culture, the man provides for the family. Our roles are clearly defined. But in the economics of my country, most couples have to work. Because the cost of living is very expensive. But foreign women who call your women slaves to men is absolutely wrong.
These values were what it was like in the West during my grandmothers and parents time. The husband went out to work, the wife stayed at home, looked feminine for him and welcomed him home after work. It’s sad to see how the West has become and nice to see these traditional values still held in the Philippines, not to say bad apples don’t exist there, but it seems more traditional, and being a housewife itself is a full time job and a huge responsibility in looking after the family. However, you do find some couples in the West w good values;I personally know two people, Scottish couple and good friends of mine who are happy but it’s not too common.
Welcome back Ismi. We missed you. Don't worry about their opinions. As you said marriage is a partnership. If you are on a boat, not everybody can be the captain. Crew members are not slaves. Everyone's job is important and necessary. If the boat sinks, everybody drowns. Fact is western men are coming to the Philippines, Filipinos are not flocking to the US. I was a househusband for 6 months and it was the hardest job in my life. To be on call 24/7 is extremely stressful. I have enormous respect for housewives. Housewives do it for love not because they don't have alternatives. I think every husband should try being a househusband for a week to have an appreciation of what the job is.

I was married for 17 years and never felt love or care from her because it was all about what I could provide.
Now I have been talking to a Filipina for 8 months today and that’s all I get from her is love and care and she is always making sure from half way around the world that I eat right and somuch more always showing me how she cares and loves and I can’t imagine how much more and better it will be in person. She is very educated and has a degree but still the pay there is not great , what I like and love every time we are on video calls and her sister or mom or dad or even friends that are over they are always smiling and laughing no matter how bad they might have it.
To me Filipina woman value there husbands still unlike western woman they just take them for granted and always looking for someone that can give them more and will leave in a heart beat to have more from someone else.

My Filpina Wife is very traditional, strong emotionally and physically. I'm not sure how she does it, but she gets everything she wants and needs.

Wow Ismi, sorry to hear and see that hateful American woman upset you, she is a classic example of why passport bro's is a thing. I am Australian and I have heard stories about some of these nasty Western women and a fair percentage of them are American. I have been on the receiving end of some horrible treatment here in Aus and I got to the point that I needed to travel further a field to find my next long term relationship. I firstly met an Vietnamese Woman and my god what a eye opener, I couldn't believe how both her and her family treated me, I was shown so much kindness and respect and even though there was a language barrier I felt so comfortable, unfortunately Covid ended our relationship but we are still friends. Nearly 2 years ago I met a Filipina and we have met and we hit it off immediately and we are making plans for our future together. Ismi please don't be upset you and Roger are two of the sweetest. kind and genuine people I have discovered on UA-cam, be proud of who you are, I just wish there were more like you in the world and Ismi in my eyes you are Beautiful inside and out and my God neither of you are stupid? The Philippines is a very special place, some of the nicest and easiest people to get along with are Filipinos. Life is about choices and if you are happy with your choice of how you live your life no one should say anything bad about it. Live your own life don't try and force other people to live the life you think is best for them. I have all the respect in the world for Roger and Ismi they are both very genuine people and they tell it like it is. I hope to visit and maybe even live in the Philippines soon.

this one really hits home for me.. there are good women in america.. unfortunately many good women seem to chose losers that tell them sweet lies.. i think if a man works away from the home for 8-10 hours then a woman can work 2-4 hours in the house.. but that seems much too rare here.. you are so very right though.. any relationship should be a partnership and working together for a better life together..

Hey Ismi, unfortunately our society is breaking down in the west. In the first world we have everything we need and most of the things we want, yet we are angry and dissatisfied. In the third world people have much less, but they are grateful for love, friends and family. As a traditional 60 yo man from Canada I am coming to the Philippines this weekend and I am so excited. I am ready to retire and I can afford to leave this dysfunctional society. And make no mistake, many men here are awful toward women as well. It goes both ways.

Each culture has different standards for the man-woman relationship and, as long as those standards encourage caring, respect, mutual support for each other, and team work, I think they are good standard.

I find Filipinos to be very kind and sweet people from what I have seen these last two years and 1/2 learning about and studying your country. I believe most of you are good people who just want to live a happy simple life enjoying the things in life that matter like good friends and family. You're very hardworking tough people as life in the PH is not easy not by a long shot. I have seen videos of many of these western feminist women that when they get older and they just worried about their careers, they wake up in their 40s and 50s alone and sad. So these younger ones will one day wake up and realize their mistakes

My grandparents (WWII generation) didn't have much money in England. But they were happy. My grandmother was a housewife. She cooked and handled the majority of the household duties. My grandfather would pitch in quite often. At the end of the day, he'd serve her tea and wait on her. Because he loved her and she appreciated it.
You remind me a bit of them. Don't cry, Ismi. People see your happiness and want to tear it down because they are unhappy. Don't let them drag you down. It's beautiful that you are making a home Roger looks forward to coming back to everyday. Millions of "western" men would give their everything for that gift... and those angry western women know it. There is no need. I am American with American parents. My mother was a 100% house wife and was married to my father 63 years when he died. She served our whole family and is an amazing woman.

Don't get caught up in the rest of the world's berating of your culture. I for one, think it's healthy relationships that you have developed over many years. If it works for you, then hey, Keep on keeping on! I don't find it offensive at all and neither should you in terms of your beliefs and traditions to each his own so to speak. You are far wiser than your years. You don't have to give in to criticisms of Filipino culture/relationships. Just because you have a strong familial emphasis on gender roles does NOT make you inferior or less intelligent! I have experienced Filipino culture firsthand and I love it in most instances. It's refreshing to me personally to have strong partnerships/relationships working and bonding together. I believe there are too many complicated situations that confuse people enough already We don't need additional stress, just live your lives without judgment condemning a culture if you don't understand it. The culture of relationships in the Philippines is healthy in my opinion. Don't let anyone ever ever try to tell you different or tear you down because of the way you live or if they think you are not intelligent because you are a vastly more intelligent in ways that I can't even begin to explain. For example, yes you know so much more. I can't speak Tagalong fluently, but yet you can speak my language English, better than many english-speaking people. But there's more, there are many forms of intelligence like emotional, academic, and, social etc. I wouldn't give into people that may assume your status or ideas because of some misperceived submissive behavior or otherwise. It doesn't matter! You keep doing and spreading the word and sharing what you know. It will benefit someone somewhere in some way positively.

I've always admired people that can speak more than one language, especially when you get into three or more languages. A person has to be very smart to do this. I only know one language (and I'm not very good at it even). While I have a college degree, I can't hold a candle to people like that. I've tried learning a second language -- I am not smart enough!

They are not real women, they have no love, just what men can give them. Now their just mad that the kind and lovely Filipinas are what men love. A Filipina brought me back out and into loving again. A co-worker pointed out the difference in the women he is dating and our boss and his wife (Mexican) and me and my wife (Filipina) the difference in how we are treated or how she works and keeps the house, though we both try to help each other. God gave me a gift and it’s my Filipina wife. For few years I had haters for no reason. And I tell them they never been there and don’t know the phippines life as well. I told my filipina fiancée I don't want her to be my slave so she knows I respect her and knows she can communicate to me if she ever felt that way, I love her so much she makes me feel valued and respected and loved, we have mutual respect for eachother and the roles we play in the relationship are balanced just as you've mentioned and communication is really important to keep a balance and respect. As a whole, Western woman are ruined. I met a Pilipina 20 years ago and we've been married for 19 years. She is the sweetest most supporting wife in the world. We never argue about anything and she is wise beyond words, takes care of our home, family, and the center of my life. There is so much hate and bad attitudes in the U.S. I often think of moving there because of the people, culture, and attitudes. The smiling faces everywhere is overwhelming to experience. I do worry about my son's opportunities though and it's a lot to think through.

I've been in a ldr for a lot of years na many trips back and forth my fiancée should be graduating this year with a doctorate in education and her daughter my step daughter will be graduating with a degree in pharmacy,,, giving the opportunity anyone with the support and motivation can achieve anything. One more thing on intelligence, why does the United States go to the Philippines for nurses ?
