Great video, fun to watch how different products are loaded. Thank you for taking the time to make these, I enjoy watching your work, your commentary and good humor. Stay safe out there.
Sweet. Danville, IL central state warehouse. I am sure you have been to cayuga plant as well........ I like loading here as they are quicker. Forklift driver loves to slam those paper rolls together. LOL The old lady at the front office still working there. Was there just last month picking up paper rolls. I work for fairway transport. We have slider kits coming in there all the time.
Great vid Dale. I enjoy watching different products being loaded, strapped and tarped. I've been hauling the 2 legged kind of loads for years (driving buses) and plan to move to OTR. I'm partial to flatbeds for now but I'll see what the future has in store for me.
dale , found your vid. by mistake. is that paper for boxes ? I'm an former offset web pressman & i have never seen paperdilivered that way. even tarped printing paper could be ruined.
I used to distribute newspapers & at the printing plant, paper was delivered by railcar, don't remember how many rolls fit in a boxcar, but they were stacked one on top of another, 2 high the length of the railcar, the newspaper used forklift trucks to unload, the railcars had label next to the door that read: "Newsprint loading only, return empty" they were CN Rail cars from Canada, at that time, they came in 3 railcars at a time on the Southern Pacific (Now UP), it took the newspaper about 45 minutes to unload each car, using 4 fork lift trucks from the side of the railcars.. the weight limit of the railcars was over 200,000 lbs limit & evidently had reinforced floors at the door to accommodate weight of forklift truck with paper... Your rolls look about double what the newspaper used..
I'm wondering how often they use trucks to move these newsprint rolls. I was a switchmen for the UP and worked an assignment that delivered newsprint via rail. You can get about 25/27 rolls in a 60 ft boxcar. But i've been reading that there have been shortages of boxcars lately. When this happens, they plug in dale clay and company.
I don't know why, but I found that really cool to watch when the trucks beside you were being loaded. Thanks for sharing, be safe out there. I know its a little late now but happy 4th of July from Canada!
Hey Dale update me on something ....... Did you already have your class a cdl's before you started maverick, or did they train you to get the class a cdl license ?
That I cannot answer as I have never measured them. I only guess on the drop as the sections on the side appear to be 2 foot sections between the nylon reinforced strapping.
I worked in printing for 50 years, and never have I seen rolls of paper that big or heavy. Biggest were 2500 pounds. Smallest were 750. On an uncovered truck yet. The rolls are so big maybe they get wound into smaller rolls?
just got off the phone with maverick, and was depressed the glass division isn't even up to par with what I'm doing locally, I thought being away from home meant serious bucks.Im still a fan Dale, but seriously disappointed
I can give you company names of the paper roll companies i know off the top of my head. You got Glatfelter, Domitar, Gordon, Finch, evergreen paper .. there are a few more, but if ya go to their websites you can probably find a contact number or email for inquiries.
I worked at an envelope factory, and we used paper rolls like this, we always got ours in box trucks. Pretty interesting stuff!
Enjoy your videos did my 26 years of flat bedding taking life easy,,,you keep her between the ditches frind.
+Don Daughtry Always trying despite those four wheelers.

+gereral1 Yes, she was working there when I filmed this
Nice reversing it's never easy backing in from light to dark.
+Johnno58 Blondi Ya, I am extra cautious in these situations.
Pro tip : you can watch series on flixzone. Been using it for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
@Watson Asa Definitely, I have been using Flixzone for months myself :)

It's the paper used on the back of drywall....I hauled tons and tons of this stuff to USG and Certianteed ...

+Howard1939 7 rolls weighed about 47,000 on my trailer

+mick higgy Thanks, be safe
Great video, enjoyed the narrative. I, too, wish we could have observed the tarping.
+mark jones Very similar to my lumber tarp video, just more dangerous.
You sounded under the weather. Hope everything is well and safe travels!
+Dwight Heyer Healthy, just tired of the Cera at the moment.

Where did you get this big plastic cover please ?
shipper provided it
@@DaleLClay any reference ?

Hey Dale update me on something ....... Did you already have your class a cdl's before you started maverick, or did they train you to get the class a cdl license ?
+abikerinpa I got everything on my own before looking for work.
+Dale Clay ok thx Dale
+abikerinpa No problem.
How long are the felt blocks from one end to the other ?
Long enough to reach both sides of the roll. I never measured them. Sorry
Very Cool!
Felt is all you need to keep them from rolling? I guess when the roll is on there are three contact points.
+Torsee The wedged blocks hold it in place until you secure it down. Crazy stuff.
Did those blocks with the strip come from u or them?
The manufacturer supplies them.
@@DaleLClay
Oh ok gotcha
Good job.
What was your intro music
Dale what size steel tarps do you carry on board?
4ft drop I believe, 8ft drop lumbrr
are they 20x24 how long how wide
That I cannot answer as I have never measured them. I only guess on the drop as the sections on the side appear to be 2 foot sections between the nylon reinforced strapping.
Dude, that is a the way a company should move product.
+TheMILVET Only took them 30 minutes to actually let us park at the dock
Yeah, that's sweet. Have seen u set a lot longer. Not too often you dock park, had to be a lil tough backing from the bright sun into the dark dock.
+TheMILVET I just go slower until I in the shadow
Miss flatbedding!

+Billy Roberts Not sure, these are used in the manufacturing of Drywall or Gypsum board.
I learned something new. Didn't know that was how they made sheetrock.

It appears as if the load is arrayed towards the end of the trailer, why is that?
It's centered so the is equal space in front and in back of the trailer as compared to the rolls of paper.
That make sense, thanks for replying.
Hey love all the videos keep it up also I like the camera views when you get loaded, can you maybe do a small video on how you shift gears ?
+BIG DOG TV It's an automatic, I don't shift gears.
+Dale Clay nice ok well keep up the good work and loven the camera views be safe god bless
+BIG DOG TV Will do and thanks.

+mike jones I don't know, I obtained my CDL on my own.
