It’s a pretty safe bet that Raley is poised to become a stud superstar. The picture of him making that stunning catch will be on posters everywhere.

What I think of Luke Raley is, he is right now, either the second or third best offensive player on this team, (behind only Julio and maybe Cal), with a ceiling every bit as high as we had hoped for Kelenic.
He has power, he has speed, he plays terrific defense. The only thing holding him back from being a perennial all star is his strike outs.
I think he's one of my favorite players to watch in all of baseball, because of the way he plays,.
It's like watching a tight end, or a linebacker play baseball.
He's very quickly becoming one of my favorite Mariners.

Finally a trade for a hitter that's working out fingers crossed, We also need to keep Bliss as a haggerty replacement

R&R and some Good S is what was needed. Raley, Rojas and speed.

Why is Riley in left with Canzone in right? Started out the opposite. Any ideas?

Sigh can’t you just be positive about the fact that he is playing well?

It's a show that often analyzes performance and why someone is doing well, poorly, or if, in the case of Raley, if they are outplaying their indicators. And they do so in an honest way. There's no doubt these guys are fans, though. If you want positive all the time, the Root Sports team is the way to go.

You guys sound like the Mariners coaching staff when you start talking analytics. Does the guy do good things? Does he hit the ball hard? Then who cares about his walk rate and bat speed! That kind of conversation is why the Ms missed on players. These analytics have ruined this sport

More information on a subject is never a bad thing. Just depends how you use that information

@MarineLayerPod I like you guys. I think you do a great job. But numbers do not always reflect on a players impact on the field. I think the Mariners front office consistently gets caught in this trap. It's makes them pass on guys they shouldn't and go for guys they shouldn't. The clip starts by praising luke and then goes into trashing his analytics. The whole thing just proves my point that numbers are not to be the end all be all

You are right, numbers are not everything, it's up to the organization's to balance how they use that information. We, however, like to use numbers, because they tell stories you cannot always see on the field. On the Raley subject: Players who don't hit the ball hard, strike out a lot, and don't walk, don't have a long track record of success. We did not invent that, that's just what it is!

@MarineLayerPod the problem is I think historical data doesn't mean much at all when you are talking about baseball today. It's a completely different sport now. Luke passes the eye test. I think a lot of the numbers you don't like are being drug down by the start he had. I think he can stay around what he is now for the rest of the year
