Love War Pig. Those guys have awesome communication and customer service and they also send out awesome stickers with their products. Sure, you can complain about prices, but they have some really rare ammo on their site that you can't find anywhere else.
Thank you! We try to focus hard on customer service and communication. We wish we could have better pricing but this stuff is HARD to get.. thank you for being a valuable customer (:
I so love the new M855A1 and M80A1 i was able to get 10 rounds of the M855A1 dang that stuff is 🔥 hot! Unfortunately very hard to get and expensive!! Great video brother
7:19 NOOOOOO!!!! Don’t say that about self defense 😭. My shtf mag for my AR10 has +10-M80A1-X5-M993 and X5-M61 Israeli- Mag marked on bottom (for a real FN bad day!) 😂. Thanks for another great video! Most don’t truly appreciate the cost for all this, but I feel your pain!
I love the thumbnail picture. Reminded me of wandering through southeast Asia in the summer of '06. The English skills were good, but sometimes hilarious.
@MyLonewolf25 What does that have to do with the purpose of M80A1? The purpose of M80A1 is to improve performance in defeating light and intermediate barriers found in military combat environments.
130gr is too light for 308. It packs a punch but the low BC means it loses power rather quickly down range. The British adopted a 155gr round that makes more sense imo.
It depends on what you want it to do. This round was designed to penetrate barriers better than previous rounds and optimized for shorter barreled rifles. It also reliably breaks into two deep-penetrating pieces for better terminal effect. Since the brass, copper and steel components of this bullet are less dense than the lead used in the British bullet or M80, it could not be much heavier and still stabilize in their weapons. The 132 grain M80A1 bullet is already longer than the 147 M80 (30.1mm vs 26,5mm). It seems that the EPR projectiles are roughly 20% longer than equal weight FMJ bullets.
2850 out of a 16 inch barrel? That’s 556 velocity! I’m expecting crazy performance out of this thing lol EDIT: watched to the end and indeed it looks good!
What a great and thorough look at this super "nasty" cartridge. Holy mother of energy dump. While I have zero use for this kind of cartridge, I always enjoy seeing what these types of rounds are capable of. Really well done, Matt. Thank you, sir.
I’m more impressed with the 13” velocities than anything else! Lol 2700 is crazy for 13”. I have a 13.5 and everything I’ve seen even with 147gr is in the 2500 range. 2700 would be a dream!
This is my first time watching your channel and I'm impressed. You don't waste a lot of the viewers time but get right down to work. I didn't like the 7.62 when I was in the Army I was issued the M14 as an aircraft mechanic in Korea in 1964 and I didn't like the recoil. I love my Windham VEX rifle that weighs in at a hefty eight and an half pounds. You don't feel the recoil and it's fun for plinking.
Doing the math... you must be getting the most out of your retirement! I was in junior high in 64 and quite a bit below your level of accomplishment at that time. Also, thank you for your service!
I have about 10, mk319, and 15 mk318 projectiles. These were sourced during the initial rollout from a buddy doing the initial testing. If interested, let me know, Matt.
@@surq0784 I have the projos coming actually so I should be good. It happened to work about all the same, that a follower contacted me about them. I have some loaded so I can compare velocites.
When I got some of this 10 yrs ago to test, I just had the bullets. A friend loaded some a little on the warm side per a known 130gr load in one of the reloading manuals. It was spitting these out at 3300 fps in the 22" :D Needless to say based on factory performance, we were well above the mark!
@@BuffRANGE NICE, i found that the 113gr ammo is trash. i had a 6 moa group from my 16". however the 150gr accubond 3 of my 5 groups were about .5-.8 moa 2 were ~1.1 moa, likely due to user error. i only have a holo and a 3x magnifier when i made those groups as well. i was looking into the patents and sig has much better LF training ammo they are going to sell to the military, they are basically just trying to dump all the old 113gr ammo to the civilian market. They also have new ap ammo with significant accuracy improvements. old ap was 5-7 moa, new ap is 1-2 moa.
@@jpoprules23 I've seen that. looks like they added a boat-tail to the penetrator. Time will tell if I'm able to get any of that. I have the 113gr LF coming, and most others testing have reported less than superb accuracy.
there is something wrong with your SBR at the 1:00 mark. There is shavings of what looks to be metal on the towel. They start to appear right below the ejection port and then seem to come out of the muzzle break on the towel under the muzzle break area.
I'm curious how XM1186 (EPR) and XM1184 (Tungsten) will perform. I know they (SIG) were proposing a revised EPR projectile for better accuracy, but the samples I have, the Penetrator is LONGER than M80A1's bullet. :D
Buffman as always making TOP TIER tests. We are truly lucky to have him. If you are seeing this man, thank you!
My pleasure!
It’s crazy that it performs better in soft tissue than most hunting bullets in .308.

@WarPigArmory Just got goodies in the mail from you guys today! Thanks for the candy and the epic stickers 😂
Love how informative these videos are, one of the best guntubers for anybody interested in ammunition performance.

How can one not love the harmonics of the M1A? ❤

The BC on m80a1 isn’t great
It’s only about a 130 grain bullet iirc

Wish it wasn’t $10 each.
But I do feel taken care of.😊
Well, maybe ammo prices will be coming down in the not impossibly distant future.

Agreed ☝️
To many reasons why ammo cost will not drop some legit some not.
Patent will run out in a couple years.

Bear in mind, these have no lead. The bullets are all copper and steel, so they're gonna be lighter than normal bullets of the same length.
@@SaltyMaverick Yup. To get nerdy, copper and brass are about 79% the density of lead and steel is even lighter at about 70% the density of lead.
They are now $10.99 a round.
Yeah there seems to be a gray market huge mark up on these. That's how expensive this video got....
I have a question: is M2 AP bullet shot to NIJ level IV specification equivalent to an M2 AP shot with a proof 7.62N load?
In my experience yes. I’m right about 27-2800 fps TOPS with my 308 MP2AP

130 grain really is the right weight for 308 . The Barnes 130 grain is king in 308 3006 hunting bullets

@BuffRANGE Projectiles, unfortunately. It was a huge risk to pull off that. I might have more, but I've only found 10 so far in 7.62.
