Good ol' Opie's big toothed brother... Another underrated and under-utilized actor. 14:15 The Red Pony was a great story I read in school, and felt so bad for the pony. Then came the movie and I was Awed at how well Clint played the boy. Thanks for sharing Rob. 👍👍 5⭐
Seeing Clint Howard in movies directed by Ron Howard is like watching Stan Lee in the Marvel movies. You know he's going to show up at some point and wondering who he's going to be playing is part of the fun.
Thanks for this one. I'm 66 and Clint Howard has always been on TV and in movies. He may not be juggling Oscars, but he's a favorite. Very nice video. Good job.
True emotions of love and respect for your parents is quite evident in the life of Clint Howard , Mr. Word thank you for sharing . As and old guy who was brought up by two parents like His , I can totally relate.
Another great interview Rob. Clint has done it all on film and TV. He has crossed all genres from appearing on Seinfeld to horror movies like Evilspeak to cult classics Rock n roll high school quite a career that is still going strong.
Very cool. He was in everything. They are a Hollywood success story. When I was a kid his show was awesome, Park Ranger dad, Bear for a pet. What a life.
Gentle Giant - in German: "Mein Freund Ben". I have fond memories for that show. Oh, as boys on this sid of the Big Cup we liked these airboats, for us they were a sensation, too.
Another masterpiece interview with another superlative guest. When a guest is this experienced, this enthusiastic, magnanimous, articulate, un-intimidated yet warmly inviting, able to remember details and names instantly, well, you just know that its going to stand as a compellingly entertaining, memorable interview, and that the subject person is a good person, all-around. Having watched his whole family onscreen, heard their stories, for my 64 years, I expected nothing less, here, in this interview. Inspiringly heart-warming. I can't wait to buy the audio book, and see all the films. Thanks, again, Rob; "nobody does it better, makes you feel sad for the rest..."
Great to see the Rance Howard family never became Hollywood types, they did movies and TV as their jobs and went home to be the family with Oklahoma values. Loved this interview, Clint and his family gave us so many good memories.
I loved reading The Boys. It's a great read. Clint needs to write a book of his own though with his own stories. He's a fabulous storyteller & fascinating to listen to. This interview wasn't long enough! I wanted to hear more! 😁
What a great episode Rob. I never knew Clint was Ron Howard's brother or anything about the Howard family for that matter. What an enlightening episode. 👍
I grew up with the Howard boys. Very interesting to hear Clint talk about his family and his show biz career. I always come away from these interviews knowing things that fill in my life memories. By the way Rob the first thing I remember Clint in was a Star Trek episode and his part kind of creeped me out.
Like a lot of men my age I grew up with Clint and Ron Howard and they reflected some of the best of the American character, family values, respect for nature, wholesome and ethical. I loved all their shows. It reflected well on their dad.
As a kid who was born and raised in Florida during the 50s and 60s, I was a huge fan of Sea Hunt, Everglades, Ripcord, Flipper, Daktari, and Gentle Ben. But my favorite Ivan Tors show is the now largely forgotten Science Fiction Theater. It was far ahead of its time and still stands up well to anything offered today.
Yep, loved that show too. Each episode introduced by actor Truman Bradley, who would give a little educational demonstration in science as a lead in to the story to be presented. Ones that stand out in my memory was the one where a baby mammoth discovered in permafrost is thawed out and revived. Another of a scientist, played by Gene Lockhart, discovering by way of a new more powerful microscope he's invented, that some ancient crystaline rocks had photographic properties, that reveal using his new gadget, images taken by the rocks from the near and distant past, including one of an atomic explosion, and another of a sauropod dinosaur from as far back as the Jurassic. Only no one else can see them, so of course his colleagues and students all think the old boy has spent too much time in the lab, presumably whiffing too much of that smoky stuff boiling out of his test tubes. But turns out you can only see those pictures by putting on the ol' scientist's specs. I mean, that musta been some prescription. Eww! Eww! And then there was the out of control car with no driver, running over people in the desert... very likely an idea ripped off by Stephen King for his novel, "Christine".
Wonderful interview, Rob. I picked up a copy of "The Boys" the moment it was released and devoured it with great delight. An audio presentation could only be better! I had second thoughts about seeing "The Old Way", but now that I know Clint "stars" in this Western, I'm going to watch for sure.
I had that Gentle Ben lunchbox. It was my first and it got me through elementary school in the 70's. I loved that show as a kid. I knew Dennis Weaver from Gentle Ben. Never saw him in Gunsmoke until I was well into adulthood.
It seems to me that Clint took a ride with Capt. James T. Kirk on the Enterprise too? Nice guy and a very good interview. Thanks, Rob. Chris Mulkey in the audience! He was great in "FAR HAVEN!" So was Bruce Boxleitner!
LOL, not too long ago I, again, saw him on the Andy show and didn't realize what he did with his life, so I looked him up and was very surprised I have seen him many times grown up. Putting him in that part on Andie's show was brilliant as it made the episode better. Thanks for this one also, Lee
Great interview, Rob......enjoying every minute of it (as I type).....You could always catch Clint/Rance...and sometimes Clint's Mom (?) in Ron's movies, too.....what a family...!!
Mr. Word thank you again, I think that all two brothers have a grate talent inherited like a lot of passion inherited.l love Ron Howard as a director he directs his films like a great writer .👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻✨✨🤠
Interesting guy. Thanks for another great start to a Sunday, Rob! I remember "The Red Pony" being the first time I saw a film based on a book that I had read. A little later in life, I learned to separate films from the books they were based on, as the books are almost always going to be "better." Unless we're talking Alfred Hitchcock, I mean. So, a few years later, I was able to watch "The Red Pony" again and like it. -MJ
This interview was absolute gold. Clint was extraordinarily candid and extremely articulate. Rarely does an interview hold me for over a half hour like this one has.
Thank you Rob for a wonderful interview. I had already taken your advice and received the book as a gift from my family, but I listened to the boys read it to me. A very well done memoir!
CLINT HOWARD and his wonderful family, you have to say that in HOLLYWOOD, that is extremely rare... You think of the time that family TV shows that Clint, Ron and father Rance worked on, and what passes as such today... well, it's a different planet for sure! Clint's recall is right on, very honest and natural and he was right about Ivan Tors being a TV pioneer, but it was Frederick Ziv who was the father of SYNDICATION. He was the genius who founded ZIV-TV which produced SEA HUNT, HIGHWAY PATROL an BAT MASTERSON, and he was totally independent of any studio, but by the mid-1960's he sold out to United Artists. What makes Clint so special coming from a showbiz family, is that to maintain a good life-long relationship with his iconic brother, that takes a lot of love, courage and humility, but to do it and overcome his addiction problems, that's what a good family is all about the support and love. Clint or anyone else for that matter would never get to open up in an interview like with Rob... no other interviewer would even recall the movies and TV shows, let alone Clint's part in them - that again is why we all know WOW is so special and unique!
Another great interview..you're so entertaining, and such a great observer and listener. I motice you have amazing recall..even when random stories, are tossed your way. You have found your niche Rob..sure glad a curator like you..will keep the Western movies and actors alive! Could chat with Clint for days, I suppose..and you'd have an avid audience! Best to you, Rob! Cheers!
Great interview, Rob! I am a fan of Clint, Rance, and Ron Howard. I will be watching a show and I usually recognize them when they show up on screen. 😊👍👍
Clint, you and your brother have been a part of my life ever since I can remember the first time I watched television. Ron and I are the same age. We were raised pretty much the same, except my mother refused to let me get involved with show business. But I have thoroughly enjoyed every performance you all did as children, teens and adults. What an extraordinary career you and your brother carved out for yourselves. Before I move on, I want to just say, you should continue writing. You got that from your dad--and you're good at it, and I can tell you love it. You have many more stories to tell. I get that. Gene Roddenberry told me once, "Young lady, you may be an actress, but you're really a writer, and you need to write!" He then introduced me to every famous science fiction writer he knew who then taught me the craft of writing. Eight books later (with two more in the pike) I'm still writing. You will decide for yourself when and what you will write, but I see you writing more. Now, I just have to say, APOLLO 13 stands out for me on so many levels. My birthday is April 13, when this all happened in 1970. I lived in Miami at the time and the Space Program was spell-binding to my brothers and I. We watched this all play out in real time on television as it all happened. We rejoiced when the astronauts landed safely. So when your brother made this movie, we were excited again, and we relived it. And I have to say, even though we already knew the outcome, we still bite our fingernails and sit on the edge of our seats when those final scenes to splashdown begin. WE ALREADY KNOW THE OUTCOME, yet we're still spell-bound by the tension Ron created in the film!!! THAT, my friend, is what good movie making is about. Whenever it comes up in rotation, I still sit down and don't get up because I don't want to miss a moment of it. AND I STILL BITE MY FINGERNAILS AND SIT ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT--even after watching it dozens of times. Also read your book, and recognized a lot of the rebellion you and Ron exhibited in your teens. I've always been a big fan of both of you and have nearly seen everything you and your brother and parents have been in. And I have to say that your mom's scene where she says the line about "If they could get a washing machine to fly, my Jimmy could land it," is just as memorable as Rob Reiner's mother saying, "I'll have what she's having."
I loved the line his mother had in Apollo 13 as Jim Lovell's mother when she met Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, "Are you boys in the space program too?"
Fantastic interview Rob have always loved Clint & Dennis Weaver since gentle Ben but Dennis even more since Clint said he introduced his parents to each other. Ron is still here in Australia going between here on the Gold coast & Sydney for post production work on the new movie he's just done called "Eden" (not a western sadly😉) so hope Ron gets to see this episode too.
Thanks for this engaging interview. The Cowboys tv series is on the Outlaw channel on early Saturdays and early Sundays. I've always enjoyed the Howard family's work. 🤠
It's on over the air tv. Just on air 1/1/24. You have to scan over the air channels to find it. It might not be available in all markets. It was to compete with Grit.
So true, “ nobody breaks into show business to do a couple of lines.” As truly a giving parent, Rance Howard would have never burdened his children with his unfulfilled dreams of stardom. Instead he recognizes the talent of his sons and helps them fulfill their dreams, all the while helping them to be the best human beings possible. A wonderful legacy.
This was great. I even went over and watched 'Apple Seed', just for Rance Howard. He worked all the way to the end, doing what he loved, acting. Saw a few more movey-stars in there as well, was good to see them again. Clint Howard is a fun guy to watch, and I probably could have listened to him for another hour! He spoke about the shows we grew up watching, so glad he has so much work. Also, the book 'The Boys' was a great read, it was one of those you didn't want to put down. Thanks for the good interview Rob Word ! Keep up the good work 👍👍 2 Thumbs up
This is an other one of your interviews I will watch again, so packed with great information & stories. I cant believe I haven't read The Boys yet, I surely should just treat myself and go buy it! Thank you, as always great work!!! 👍👍
Wow what a beautiful interview, thanks so much, I always say anyone who can keep working decade after decade after decade in show business is impressive, not the star just the great character actors, tells me they are good at what they do, show up on time, know their lines , know their role, follow directions and are pleasant to work with, just my opinion thanks again!
Very nice Rob. Very nice Gonna be down that way late, next Summer. Gonna take a meandering drive back north with my Grandson. And for sure want to stop in the Museum (which I learned about due to your videos. Should I see you I will say howdy ...
Great interview and enjoyable. John Wayne played Davy Crockett in The Alamo, where he dies. That is a western I believe So oops, The Cowboys is not the first western where he dies. Also want to mention Clint did an episode of Bonanza and he and his father did the commentary for the DVDs.
A LOVE LETTER to Mom & Dad, what a beautiful comment. Matchmaker Dennis Weaver was a surprise. I am going to rush out right now and get the movie "APPLE SEED" THANK YOU CLINT! I would be thrilled to hear my Kids talk about me the way Clint talks about his parents. MR. Word, do you have a link to purchase Clint's custom SNOW GLOBES? .
It's funny, I just watched Ride a Cock-Horse to Laramie Cross last week! Great interview. One of my favorites was Clint playing Jo Hi in An Eye For An Eye.
URGENT NOTE: Rob, your Patreon link doesn't seem to be working, from inside the "Description" page. I am joining, and I figured that you should know that the link may be broken for others, too. Hope this helps.
I consider it an obligation and honor. Keep going strong, Folks! May God bless you all. I will be joining and I will be increasing my support, by year's-end, God willing. And I hope every regular viewer shall become a supporter, too. If we don't get 'er done, who shall? The Cowboy Way is The Sharing Heart Way. We can and should work together, as always, still, today.
My goodness Rob, what a fantastic interview with, Clint! Thank you.
Good ol' Opie's big toothed brother... Another underrated and under-utilized actor. 14:15 The Red Pony was a great story I read in school, and felt so bad for the pony. Then came the movie and I was Awed at how well Clint played the boy. Thanks for sharing Rob. 👍👍 5⭐
Another excellent interview. Clint's a natural storyteller. I sense with more to share. Thank you, Clint! Thank you, Rob!
What a nice addition to a cup of coffee this morning! Thx Rob & Clint! So enjoyable ro watch & listen.
Yup! These "sit back with a cup of coffee" Sunday mornings are always a treat!
Seeing Clint Howard in movies directed by Ron Howard is like watching Stan Lee in the Marvel movies. You know he's going to show up at some point and wondering who he's going to be playing is part of the fun.
A very enjoyable episode with a very likable actor. Clint has the ability to entertain just by telling his stories.
Thanks for this one. I'm 66 and Clint Howard has always been on TV and in movies. He may not be juggling Oscars, but he's a favorite. Very nice video. Good job.
Sounds like my dad and mom who were Wonderful. That's great.
I was brought up on Gentle Ben and some of Clint's work. What a nice guy. He's made his father proud.
Another great episode , I grew up with the Howard brothers. Don’t forget that great episode on Bonanza with your dad looking for God .
True emotions of love and respect for your parents is quite evident in the life of Clint Howard , Mr. Word thank you for sharing . As and old guy who was brought up by two parents like His , I can totally relate.
Gentle Ben was one of my favourite shows as a child, nice interview rob .
❤ A lot of good memories.
Another great interview Rob. Clint has done it all on film and TV. He has crossed all genres from appearing on Seinfeld to horror movies like Evilspeak to cult classics Rock n roll high school quite a career that is still going strong.
Talk about a face that everyone recognizes! Great stories. Thanks, Rob.
Very cool. He was in everything. They are a Hollywood success story. When I was a kid his show was awesome, Park Ranger dad, Bear for a pet. What a life.
What an incredible interview. I'm blown away. Great job, Rob! This was so cool to talk with Clint. I loved it.
Thanks Rob! That was great fun!
FIVE STARS, ROB!!! Great interview. I could have sat all day watching the two of you commisserate.
Thanks, Ky. I think I could too!

Thanks to you and Clint for this very informative interview.
Gentle Giant - in German: "Mein Freund Ben". I have fond memories for that show. Oh, as boys on this sid of the Big Cup we liked these airboats, for us they were a sensation, too.
So glad Clint talked about playing Leon.
I really liked, "The Missing", it was cool!!!

Excellent interview - Thanks Rob
The king of PB and J!
Great interview Rob. Thank you Clint for opening your life up for all to see.
Good interview. Despite not reaching the heights of his brother Clint has had a very successful career playing quirky and offbeat characters!
What a fantastic interview. Clint Howard is such a great actor.
EXCELLENT interview, Rob! Clint Howard is an amazing person and an EXTREMELY talented actor!
Great to see the Rance Howard family never became Hollywood types, they did movies and TV as their jobs and went home to be the family with Oklahoma values. Loved this interview, Clint and his family gave us so many good memories.
Great interview!!!
Wow now I feel really stupid, I didn't know clint and ron were brothers. Thanks Rob for sharing this
That was a wonderful interview Rob
Another great guest with so much knowledge to share
Thanks so much
Very nice interview, Rob. Thank you and Clint. Much appreciated.
I loved reading The Boys. It's a great read. Clint needs to write a book of his own though with his own stories. He's a fabulous storyteller & fascinating to listen to. This interview wasn't long enough! I wanted to hear more! 😁
Awesome interview, Rob! Thanks.
Gentle Ben and Flipper were on my weekly must see as a kid. We lived in Florida when both were being filmed.
What a great episode Rob. I never knew Clint was Ron Howard's brother or anything about the Howard family for that matter. What an enlightening episode. 👍

Yep, loved that show too. Each episode introduced by actor Truman Bradley, who would give a little educational demonstration in science as a lead in to the story to be presented.
Ones that stand out in my memory was the one where a baby mammoth discovered in permafrost is thawed out and revived.
Enjoyed the interview. with Clint, thanks for sharing, Rob
Wonderful interview, Rob. I picked up a copy of "The Boys" the moment it was released and devoured it with great delight. An audio presentation could only be better! I had second thoughts about seeing "The Old Way", but now that I know Clint "stars" in this Western, I'm going to watch for sure.
Cool, Jeff. The audio version is superb. Like "the boys" sitting with you and regaling you with stories.
Its good to see clint on here
Great interview Rob! Look forward to his book.
Rob, great episode! Clint, can really tell a great story! Thanks for sharing!💫
Clint’s television and film knowledge is incredible 👍
LOL, not too long ago I, again, saw him on the Andy show and didn't realize what he did with his life, so I looked him up and was very surprised I have seen him many times grown up. Putting him in that part on Andie's show was brilliant as it made the episode better.
Thanks for this one also,

I've never liked listening to books, but it looks like this may the way to go with "The Boys."

Another great job, Rob. You have a real talent for putting your guests at ease, it helps to reveal some their inner feelings and experiences.
Thanks, AC. I give it my best effort to keep it light, fun and informative.
The Smith Family actually ran two seasons, premiering midseason in January of '71 before ending in June of '72.
Rob, you bring the best out of your guest.
Thanks, Ken!
I wish Clint had talked about "The Wild Country" more, it is my favourite film 📽️
I trust if there's an opportunity, AWOW will find it.
Incredible stories! Thanks Rob!

Glad you enjoyed it!
I got to get that book it looks great
💕👍
Very nice Rob. Very nice
Gonna be down that way late, next Summer. Gonna take a meandering drive back north with my Grandson. And for sure want to stop in the Museum (which I learned about due to your videos. Should I see you I will say howdy ...
Sounds like a good adventure, dennis.
Great interview and enjoyable. John Wayne played Davy Crockett in The Alamo, where he dies. That is a western I believe So oops, The Cowboys is not the first western where he dies. Also want to mention Clint did an episode of Bonanza and he and his father did the commentary for the DVDs.
The Wraith... Clint Howard's "Rughead". When does having Clint Howard in your movie not pay off? Never, that's when. ❤
Good chatting with you, see you in april!
I remember that tv series The Cowboys. How can I fine dvds or reruns of that tv series ?
We all have been trying to find and screen them, Teho.
The Smith Family was a good show in a poor time slot and facing serious competition.
MR. Word, do you have a link to purchase Clint's custom SNOW GLOBES? .
No snow globes, kita
John Wayne bit the dust a few times on film, including in The Cowboys and The Shootist.
Don’t forget The Alamo
Wake of the Red Witch, They Were Expendable, Sands of Iwo Jima
Fighting Seabees and of course True Grit
Sorry strike True Grit…thinking of graveyard scene
It's funny, I just watched Ride a Cock-Horse to Laramie Cross last week! Great interview. One of my favorites was Clint playing Jo Hi in An Eye For An Eye.
Cool, madman. I like AN EYE FOR AN EYE, too!
URGENT NOTE: Rob, your Patreon link doesn't seem to be working, from inside the "Description" page. I am joining, and I figured that you should know that the link may be broken for others, too. Hope this helps.
Thanks, cowboyrick. Will look right into it. Thank you for helping us continue, too!!
Maybe first time john wayne died in a western?but his character died in "Reap the wild wind" and "the sands of iwo jima" "the fighting seabees" 😊
Just too short. Could've easily went for two hours
