I wonder how many prospects that got injured in college went to the nfl and were riddled with injuries vs prospects that didnt have any injury concerns in college
Niners fan here - (ignoring the injury issues) these could easily be the same players I'd pick for the Niners. Certainly we need to beef up our O-Line. We had 4 QBs get season ending injuries in 2022 and didn't draft a single O-Lineman. Our 2023 O-Line was better but still not good enough to get the big trophy at the end. On the Niner DBs I said LAST YEAR we needed to get a DB with the genuine ability to get pick 6s. Not just someone who'd disrupt and get the occasional P6 but a guy who was a threat to take it to the house any pass play. BOTH of Toms DB choices fit that bill and especially DeJean.
Idk if fan of the years can br reigning champion, but Tom having a literally week of videos ready while hes on his first vacation in 5 years makes me think hes gonna win it again

Unless you want your fan base to revolt, you better NOT take a non-QB in the first round unless you expect him to start within the first 6 games of the season. EVERY GM knows that except for QB, you don't waste a first round pick on a backup. That's why so many fans were pissed with the Van Ness pick.
Packers bench almost every single rookie every single year. What are you talking about. They picked rashaan gary at #12 knowing they wouldnt play him as a rookie either. He played like 10% of the snaps
Like the Spanish Inquisition? But in all seriousness... if a really good one drops or is the best player available, I can see it. Plus it would be the ultimate FU to Rogers. Never underestimate the spite factor!
Tbh I feel like Packers should to CB in Round 1 and after looking at all the prospects im 100% sold on Quinyon Mitchell. Hes just leagues above everyone else and if he falls to us or we move up to get him I will be incredibly happy
@@blktom probably but with all the teams that need offensive help and how offense heavy this draft is I think there's a chance that the packers could trade up to get him if they wanted. I can really only think of like 3 teams that would go CB in round 1.
The ghosts of Packers Draft pasts still haunt me when they take an injury prone fella, so pass on LB Payton Wilson, pass on CB Nate Twiggins and pass on OT Mims.
1st round has to be best player available. You can tweak that to BPA of position of need to narrow down the focus. I am not sold that RT is a need position and I didn't have a problem with Tom. RG is a glaring hole but I think Barton is the only guy worth taking as a 1st Rd pick to fill it, so if he is gone I am confident they can get a RG deeper in the draft, and I have been seeing a lot of Mocks with Barton being gone by 25 and being picked by the Cowboys. I think for sure OL will be picked more than once and at least have one being picked on day 2 if Barton is gone.... this is a deep OL/WR draft. I like Wilson and he will be there when the Packers pick... the real problem is they would be reaching at 25 to get him, plus he still /might/ be there at 41. If the Packers are actually switching to a 4-3 defense, the other glaring question is where does Wilson fit? If Walker is your starting middle linebacker and you play 80% of your snaps in Nickle and Dime, you only have 1-2 LBs on the field on any given play. Will Gary and Smith stay OLBs or become DEs? Because of this, I honestly do not see the Packers drafting a LB till 3rd Rd or later unless the plan is to replace Walker because he no longer fits the scheme. We as fans just do not have enough information to the new DC and Defense to know if LB is actually a need or not. I also like DeJean (though he is more a slot CB than a outside CB) and with the new DC being a big Secondary guy I could see DeJean being used in creative ways. The real problem is this... it is nice to have versatility, but if he moves to slot CB, you still need a Safety. Unless we draft a Safety day 2 that is also a starting Safety, I want DeJean playing Safety. You do not want to waste a 1st Rd pick on a glorified slot CB and do the Packers really need 3 starting Safeties? The Packers can draft a slot CB later in the draft if they really want one. DeJean is also another player where I see a ton of mock drafts having him being picked by the Eagles. So at that point, the Packers should look at Bullard or Nubin possibly at 41 (or later) if DeJean is gone by 25. So to me, unless Barton or DeJean is still there at 25, the real choice is to consider a top outside CB and then Edge. TBH, I kind of like Chop Robinson and he is a legit option to be there at 25. If one of the top DTs got pushed down, I would strongly consider taking them as well to play along side Clark. The best thing that can happen to the Packers is if 6 QBs, 6 OTs, and 6 WRs get taken before 25 to push down one of those stud Defensive players. With that Georgia TE in the mix, there is a strong opportunity to be getting a top 3 CB, DT, or Edge at 25 at that point! So yeah, finger's crossed that teams desperate for a QB reach for them in the first round. I say keep a close eye on those teams starting at pick 11 through 14 for a second QB run (reaching at that point) after the top 2 or 3 are selected. Worse case scenario is teams draft smart and take best available player... you see like two QBs taken in the first round. Still might see 6+ OL taken and 6+ WRs taken, but those top 3 CBs, Edge, and DTs will all be gone. Either way, I am hyped and can't wait for the draft!
Also Tom I like the copper dashen as your no.1 pick for GB he is solid and covers well and can take over game he would fit very well on the packers team.
I would not be surprised if we hear the names of a lineman that’s a STUD! Cuz day 2 we could totally go all in on defense! Cooper DeJean would be a super exciting, but Kool-Aid is another name that has been mocked to the Packers as well! That is definitely the one I want at 25 but DeJean would not even be bad at all, those names of the top 5 targets I would be very satisfied with, this is not like last year where we were all itching for one guy being JSN, who was mocked a lot to the Packers but totally changed that script and brought in one of the best edge rushers in that draft class LVN! This draft is way more flexible for the Packers to really look at targets that would totally fit the Packers offense and defense! This is too exciting and it’s literally a week away! This is the best time to be a football fan
DT is the biggest need in my opinion. Its time to starting planning for Kenny Clarks departure. Were not going to resign him, hes not going to be worth what the market says well have to pay him. I think were go after Johnny Newton or Byron Murphy. I could also see us trading up with the Dolphins or the Steelers to snag DeJean from the Eagles
I like to know why Tom you didn't mention Quay Walker in a positive note. I think he had a far better season in year 2 and he shown some leadership. Am I wrong?
Those are some interesting picks for the packers I hope one of those 5 do drop to the 25th pick and make a good impact for the packers. Also hope you had a safe trip back sir your a legend.
I want them to go either Cooper Dejean or Koolaid McKinstry, I'd rather have either of them over wiggins. If not one of them I wouldn't mind them trading out of the first. Knowing my luck with the packers draft history and them almost never taking the player I want, I'm expecting them to draft some edge rusher that I wouldn't have thought they would draft.
Yeah Wilson's knees scare me and he is older than the teams average age at the end of last season. Would draft Chop, Q Mitchell, Nubin, Guyton, JPJ, Rakestraw, Verse, Latu, Fuaga, Mims, Barton, Dejean, and of course wiggins or kool-aid over Wilson since one of those guys will probably be there at 25. Honestly would take gray over him as well at 41.
I'm all for getting Cooper Dejean,he is my #1 pick for the packers....but I don't wanna trade up for him. Not when we can just get Kool-Aid and keep our 2 2nds.
I feel like the linebacker chart is disingenuous. You have some quality starters and even a few elite linebackers like Roquan and CJ mosley. Lacks the context that some teams can’t afford the relatively big contracts these linebackers go for at that position. Not that those linebacks are a bust. If you get 4-5 really good years from a linebacker then trade away/get a comp pick for a first round pick that isn’t necessarily a terrible pick if that is a position of desperate need
I think the real question is this... are they for sure switching to a 4-3? If so, what position is Quay Walker? Are Gary and Smith DEs or OLBs? If 80%+ of your snaps are in a Nickle or Dime package with only 1 or 2 LBs on the field and Walker is that one LB or at least one of the two, is it worthwhile to draft a LB in the 1st round? I don't think so unless you plan to replace Walker... and I do not think there is a LB better than Walker right now in the draft at 25 to replace him with.
I would agree that there isn’t a great rd 1 worthy prospect this year taking colson or cooper would be fair late 2 or even 3. But there should just be better players overall in the first at a more premium position.

YES WE NEED MORE PLAYMAKERS. we don't need more LBs to not stop the run or CBs to get burnt like Buckley if you an old enough packer fan to remember that.
@@UrNotgonnaLikeDis It is fine to want a HoF WR, and even if Harrison does become one, going from 25 to 4 is going to cost /waaaaay/ to much. If the team was a WR away from the SB, /maybe/. But they are not. It is a deep WR class, you can get a solid WR on day two if they really want one or one is to good to pass up. Packers need a starting FS, they need a starting RG... and who knows who is playing what on D as they switch to a 4-3. Plus yeah, Stokes has been a bust so they need a starting CB way more than a starting WR IMO. You need to stop living in the past, not every LB will be Hawk and not every CB will be the Vaccinator.

🙄
We have 9 playmakers. Jacobs, Doubs, Watson, Reed, Wicks, Heath, Melton, Musgrave, and Kraft. Fym we need more playmakers?
@dh.scenes two are TEs. Reed Doubs and Watson spent significant time on the pine hurt. Jones got delt for less.... plus I'm not saying anyone of those guys is going to canton as a 1st ballot.
@blktom I'm not living in the past you are... DEFENSE DON'T WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS ANYMORE. lol can get solid defensive players late too... they pipe dream fantasy of a top 3 defense is flat stupid. They just nerfed defenses with no hip tackles. The league wants more ppg. Let's give it to them.
Knowing the packers. We’re gonna take someone else.
Please don't take Mimms, other than that, have at it of any of those 5.
W vid like alwaysss!
Please don't say Tyler Nubin you know Gutey won't draft a player with such a low RAS score.
