- This live recording was made during an youth-event in the St. Lutherchurch Halle (Saale), Germany. This improvisation about the song "Somewhere over the Rainbow" shows the softest and most quiet voices of this Rühlmann-Organ.
DEUTSCH:
Diese Live-Aufnahme entstand bei der Feier der Lebenswende in der Lutherkirche in Halle (Saale) am 12.09.2020. Dies ist eine spontane Improvisation zum Lied "Somewhere over the Rainbow" mit den leisesten Stimmen der Rühlmann-Orgel.

Wonderful! I love your improvisation, Paul: it is truly beautiful and your registration on this organ is enchanting. The story goes that Harold Arlen, who wrote this melody in 1938, was being driven to a Chinese restaurant in Beverly Hills when he told his wife to stop the car on Sunset Boulevard so that he could write down this melody that had just popped into his head! I wish I could be so inspired on the way to a restaurant! On thing is for certain - your improvisation is certainly inspiring . . . and it took me all the way over the rainbow!

Hi Graham - yep, I’ve been “silently” watching Paul over the past few months and love what he’s doing, especially the sound he’s using on his videos. He definitely knows what he’s doing and I’m sure he will continue to grow in our weird and wonderful organic world! Collaboration - sure thing - I’m trying to get my head around Hauptwerk’s intricacies - Paul’s a good few steps ahead of me there, so I dare say I’ll be in touch looking for a bit of help! Given this performance, I would like to make a request: would you please consider recording a performance of Samuel Barber's "Adagio for Strings" arranged for the organ by William Strickland (published by Schirmer/Hal Leonard)? I'd love to hear it somewhat along the same lines (tempo and registration) of the recording made by Felix Hell. Unfortunately Felix's recording was made live and has many distracting background noises. I'm sure that, given your artisitic sensitivity and the many available sample sets, you could produce an even more sensitive and stunning performance (sans coughing, bird chirps, foot squeeks, door slams, etc.)
Yes! I‘m planning to record the Adagio by Barber someday - I didn’t find the right organ for that yet though 😀
@@PaulFey I'm wondering if "Nancy" would work - it has a huge acoustic; I'm not sure about the stoplist for strings. Or maybe "Dudelange".
