Best boxing movie in the the last 20 years , but so much more . Winstone , McShane , Smiley but most off all Harris made this a classic.

Of all the genres that don't need any more films, it's boxing films. Raging Bull, Rocky (most of the franchise), Wrestler (... Almost boxing), the Fighter, Warrior, Million Dollar Baby, Ali (the director's cut is pretty good, fight me), that one Daniel Day-Lewis film I haven't seen but is probably amazing. There's almost nothing to be done with the genre after those great films, at least not with a tiny budget with the focus wholly on the character (Unless it's the Mike Tyson biopic).

What a silly comment. How many genres fall in to that? There's only 7 subjects you can really film about, and there is nothing under the sun. How many cop films have we had? How many fantasy films have we had? I mean, christ you mention The Wrestler when talking about how no more boxing films should be made? No it isn't "almost boxing". It's Wrestling. Different, VERY different sports.

WHY DON'T YOU WANT TO SEE MORE FILMS ABOUT PEOPLE FALLING IN LOVE?! IS YOUR HEART A STONE?!?!
See, right here, I'm setting up the premise for a film where two people meet over a comment posted about films not being original. Those two people continue to argue, but then come to a mutual understanding. Then they get to know each other over comenting on other videos. Then they fall in love. But they can't meet, no no no no, why? Because UA-cam's censorship and falling advert revenue mean more youtubers leave the platform, leaving less videos to be watched, less opportunities to leave comments for the other one to read and respond to.
Then it ends, sadly, when the site is shut down. The last comments are left on a film review of Casablanca, and they exchange the immortal words: We'll always have Jawbone.
      Good day.

Michael Burke True, it was a rather embarassing comment. I was actually about to write a pretty long and embarassing retort concerning the lack of fresh ideas in the genre, but that would be a losing and senseless battle. Guess it's similar to my distaste of comic book movies, also a genre that I feel had reached its peak a while back and hasn't introduced anything interesting in years, but unlike comic book films probably wont do anything original in the future either due to its limited potential. But sure, nothing new under the sun, taste is subjective and all that jazz.

You're right about comic book movies in fairness. That's a genre that's done to death because it's the same old same old. However Boxing is a different thing. There's many aspects to the sport and the people within it that would contribute to amazing films. It's just when you say boxing, and there's no actual punches in it, people question whether it's a boxing film or not.

Michael Burke But the comic book genre still allows for more diverse storytelling. it can have elements of other genres. Boxing films though mostly end up going either the Raging Bull or Rocky route.
      ...
Still a great genre though, but needs some innovation.
IMHO (for those that think that I'm forcing my opinion on others and am not simply speaking my mind, everyone's entitled to their own opinion yadayada)
