As usual, your mastery over drawing,( specially landscapes) is commendable. I really liked the accompanying commentary. Your honest and frank tips are worth their weight in gold(of course, mainly to serious art students). This particular landscape is totally mesmerising.

Solid advice. When I was younger an arty friend talked me into buying this big derwent graphics set, with harness going to at 9h, think I never used anything harder than 3h, the rest of the hard range is gathering dust under in my pencilbox.

I agree but I've been doing some reading on real nice pencils and supposedly you can buy pencils that you can actually use the 3,4,5H's. Mitsubishi actually makes a nice pencil and the higher H's dont cut into the tooth of the paper like cheaper ones do

Very nice indeed. I have a lot to learn. Not quite sure how to proceed with my very novice beginner landscape drawings. Fabulous to have found your channel.

This looks SO REAL! I have Mitsubishi Uni, I am interested that you consider them "soft" I think I would like a softer lead. It would possibly not allow me to get the detail I'm seeing you doing here.

You answered a lot of questions I had here Thank You. Also absolutely amazing drawing. I hope I get as good as you one day. As for pencils I actually went about buying the 12 pencil pack that was all the same degree. The problem there is I ended up with too many pencils or at least too many for me. I’ll probably just sell those and keep the sets I have. I have the Staedtler 24 set and 3 of their 12 sets plus tons of carbon and charcoal pencils. Those ought to see me through getting better and then some. Im not an expert at all though. Now all thats left is to practice.

I've had the same problems with two Derwent sets, 5H-6B and H-9B. I also have problems with the weak leads snapping off with very little pressure in the darker grades.

Two or three things: 1. What type paper is being used in this drawing? I am finding that on buildings with fine detail smooth works best for me. 2. I was surprised to hear the "grade range" usually used. Guess my "b" dominant range may need to be rethought. I have usually used wood pencils, noticed the use of mechanics a lot in this drawing. I have been using them some lately. I find them a whole new discipline, but like them. Hard to make an old dog use new tricks!

Also, when do we use clutch pencils( lead holders) and when do we use wood pencils. Can we only use clutch pencils?

Please read this whole comment. Solid advice. You should seriously have courses on Udemy. The reason why you only have 32.8 K subscribers isn't because you don't have good content( no seriously you have the best content ever) it is because not many people knows about your channel. Like millions of people around the world knows about Udemy for graphic design and drawing courses so if you have courses on Udemy, Jeez, I can't even imagine how popular your courses would be and how much income would you get. Please for the sake of god and yourself, please have paid courses on Udemy(not free courses)( a lot of people are going to pay your courses even if it is super expensive since the content is super duper super duper awesome.) Please apply this to your to-do list and probably( I mean definitely) your channel would rock and fly to 400K or even 900K also your Udemy account would have at least 20,000(this is a huge number of student even though having 20K subscribers on youtube isn't that much because imagine 20,000 * 199$ which is the average fee for one course = 3,980,000$ or even 100,000 students which is 100,000* 199$ = 19,900,000$) (even though Udemy has the courses on sale for only 19$ but you would earn 199$). Also, it is better to have courses STRUCTURALIZED( from level 1 beginner to level 2 intermediate then to level 3 advanced and to level 4 expert). I'm NOT a person from Udemy advertising trying to convince gg. I'm just a student trying to learn art and has sympathy on you that you have only 32K subscribers. I really want that number to increase and also develop my art skills. Also, from a student's perspective, I find it hard to commit to your tutorials because they are not structuralized and I also hope you could explain your methods of doing it like in a course instead of tutorials. Also, because alot of people around the world don't have access to Patreon but want to pay your tutorials.

A lot about what pencils to use but not much about \drawing the landscape. HOW DID YOUGET THE STONE WALL? A nice picture but not enough sketching information.
