Thank you. I'm wanting to do a couple more, just have to get more ash (I only had 2 blanks and only have 1 left). I also need to figure out a better finish, thinking a brush on but after I carve out the inside this time 😄
The coloring looks pretty good. The bowl as a whole is very nice. I’ve used a couple cans of that Krylon finish and do not like it. I would suggest allowing the embellishing wax to dry over night then applying your high gloss wax over it. That tool you showed and called your nobly bowl gouge I’m not so sure it’s not actually a spindle gouge. The square nose you have on it is not a good thing either. Maybe after my car is repaired we can arrange a day or 2 for me to come over and help you out a bit. Your on a good path. I just think you need some hands on coaching. We can talk about it in a few weeks after the car is fixed.
Doug thank you. I always appreciate your advice. My shop/garage is a mess at the moment as I am trying to focus on organizing it around work and my videos so maybe down the road we can work something out. Would be cool to meet you either way. As for the chisel, I only called it a bowl gouge because when I bought the set it came in that's what they had labeler it. I need to resharpen some of my tools so last time I tried sharpening it I may have goofed it up some and ended up with a square end. I think giving the wax more time to dry may have been a better way to go as well. I did like that high gloss look the clear coat gave it, maybe I can find something other than krylon next time that will work well. Thanks for watching and commenting. Always appreciate your feedback.
bought a qt. of tried and true every pcs i make comes out same color. new at turning at like 4months found a small lathe have a pile of wood. i want to get new colors like you did
Cheapest I've found is the Rit. I watched a few others use it and liked the result on the ash. Need to try it on other woods now. Tried unicorn spit and wasn't as impressed, but may try watering it down some and see how that works. Good luck with the woodturning. It gets addictive.
Nice bowl. Just a tip. Don't spin your bowl and spray. Fast dry finishes don't like that. Spray from the foot to the top edge of the bowl then rotate by hand. Over lap as you go. End up with much better results.
Hey Chris, that is a very nice bowl and a great finish

Thank you! I'll have to try that. Just so used to having it spin due to runs and drips didn't think there would be much of a difference. Thanks again!
the dye was that from like Walmart dye for laundry?
Yea I got mine from Micheal's, but the same stuff.
