Well done, so pleased to hear this. I have just been diagnosed with osteopenia am 62 years old and trying to understand what I need to do to reverse this Keep well 😊
That’s amazing and heartening for me to hear as I was told I have osteopenia 3 years ago. I refused meds to treat it so I feel out on a limb. Struggling to know what to do so your story is uplifting. Thank you ❤
I loved our conversation together. Such an important topic to preserve and strengthen the structure that’s going to carry us to an active future 💪🦴 Thanks for having me 🙂🙏
I was so excited to see you on Dominique’s podcast! I signed up for your program 3 months ago and was so excited that you interviewed me when I signed up! Your program is concise and interesting! Thanks Kevin!
Thank you for a great podcast with Dominique. I was surprised you didn't mention TBS, so I want to know if you don't think it's valuable and why. I haven't been able to find a center that uses it that is closer than 8 hours from Cincinnati! Thank you!
@@lakeside23 Thanks for the message. :) We probably could have chatted for hours as we just barely scratched the surface! Yes, trabecular bone score (TBS) is important since it can help people understand their bone quality. Bone density is the actual mineral content of the bone. Bone quality is the structural integrity and microarchitecture of the bone. Those two things combine to create bone strength. A lot of times people only have part of the picture.
Kevin, can you still do your program after having a fracture???…the doctors are scaring the life out of me with taking the shots, because of this one fracture!…any advice is greatly appreciated!💜
Great podcast… Dominique I love how you host because you really let the guest speaker talk without interrupting and it’s very refreshing. Thanks for all you do.
I could write a book on this subject, best video I’ve ever seen on UA-cam! At the age of fifty I was diagnosed within 6months time CIDP, MS, THROID DISEASE, FIBROMYALGIA so many diagnoses that I went to Mayo Clinic and they are the ones that added fibromyalgia…needless to say I was devastated, but determined to be MY OWN ADVOCATE (you have to). So many other things have happened in the last 8 years as I turned 58 yesterday. But I’m just going to talk about this subject. We have a history of osteoporosis and osteopenia in my family, as I am petite in size so was my grandmother, and my mom. But my sister has severe scoliosis and is a nurse. That has been a God sent to me going through all this. She suggested I have a bone density test and the sad thing is if you have no family history you cannot be one until you are in your sixty, this is absolutely ridiculous. Women need at least a baseline way before then, but because of my family history I was approved.I was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis in both hips and osteopenia in my thoracic. Because of all my other diseases and the fact that I receive IVIG monthly it’s been difficult. I have already failed 3, so I go back in a year to decide besides taking calcium what direction we need to go. Everything that was stated in this video is correct! It must start at childhood with nutrition, vitamins, and information as to why we need to do this. I’m sorry to say doctors do not give us this information. The only thing I have been told is to take my calcium and whatever other medication that I’m praying will help when we find it. But what hurts me the most is that most people and doctors think a pill is the solution to everything! But it’s not, with everything inside of me I am begging listeners to do the things that have been talked about here. In closing I would like to say I was healthy and now my life will never be the same. How awesome this video was Dominique! Blessings, prayers and love 🤩💛
This was awesome! Have osteopenia (67, but diagnosed many years ago). I do yoga 5 day/week and am now walking 2 miles/day at least 5 times /week. But, this made me realize I need to do more. Just since I've increased activity I notice such a huge difference in my flexibility and strength. Aging can be painful and cause a lot of misery. I work with the elderly and see it every day. I want to do everything I can to have the best possible health! Thank you for this motivational, informative discussion.
Multiple MULTIPLE thumbs up for this one!!!! Having gone through 9 compression fractures with my mom, Osteoperosis is NO joke! As you both said, it can take you from being vibrant and active to bedridden in the snap of a finger. My mom was so fragile, that one of her fractures was sustained just by sneezing. I wish this information was out in the public 40 years ago when she was first diagnosed in her 50's. Instead, the last 13 years of her life were filled with 9 Vertiboplasty operations, limited molbility and chronic pain. Go do your bloodwork people and fix your gut/health issues. You do NOT want the dreaded "O." P.S. there's also a link between thyroid medication and Osteoperosis. Apparently the medication depletes Calcium as well:( Thanks so much for doing this one!!!
Thank you Kevin Ellis for your wisdom and coaching strategies. Dominique, keep the Over 50 & Flourishing coming, so mindful and helpful, we appreciate you. Thank you,
Wow! What a timely piece! I’m 65 and getting my first bone scan soon. I understand there’s a medication that often is prescribed for bone loss that can have dental implications. I don’t think I want to go down that path. Thank you so much for this! I now have a source to help me better understand how to prevent or repair bone loss in a more natural way.
What a very articulate young man with some helpful recommendations. I am 72 and I reversed a significant amount of bone loss with nutrition and some recent medication under the professional care of my board certified, licensed and credentialed physicians with decades of experience. Great topic, Dominique - week two! Great!
This is such vital information to know … and I understand some of these replies feeling frustrated because we have been uninformed along the way and now we are 40,50,60 & 70’s … & JUST hearing it . Keep reading , listening , following podcasts on nutrition , supplements as well as what tests to request … for your own records !! I have made it clear with my doctor and he’s on board… I want him to follow my wellness and good health …. Not my illness !!! I have my own medical chart at home … get copies of every single test done . Be your own advocate… dig in and learn . This stuff is so interesting, easy, and vital to feeling and being in the best physical state !!
This information should be in HS health class, and even through out school systems. It would have to be delivered in such a way and by guest speakers to really drive the info home. Knowing what kids do...diet, exercise and reducing screen time...will affect their future health. Knowing your family history is also very important. Wish I knew what is being taught in my local schools.
Thank you SO much Kevin and Dominique…I am sitting here with a fractured pubic Ramos bone, at 66 yo…total accident, but, I also have osteoporosis since I was in my 40’s…scary place to be!..Kevin you gave me such hope!…I am signed up for your masterclass already!!!…God Bless you both!💜
I am so very grateful that you did this video!! I was just diagnosed w osteopenia. No one likes a diagnosis like this. I practice natural herbs and vitamins. So far, I’ve learned that my body can create more calcium if I take Vitamin D and collagen. That’s where I’m at. Your video is so timely and I am so grateful to you for promoting bone health. Thank you so much!!❤
You are the best, Dominique. I am so glad you chose osteo health for your 2nd episode. I had to INSIST on getting a bone density test. It is not typically performed until 65 yrs old. Why? That's how system works, but thats "too late". No one ever suggested I should do this test, even though I have a family history. It turned out that at 55 I was diagnosed with osteoporosis, SEVERE in the lumbar area. I was given high dosages of D with calcium. I found out by myself about the magnesium and the K. Why? I shoud have been given this information. As in any field, there are better doctirs than others. I've learned that one must be proactive and learn to advocate for your own health. Thank you, Bone Coach tor your insights and your coaching. Great episode!
This could not have come at a better time. I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis 2 months ago and have been confused at what i need to be doing to fight this. Thank you so much for being our advocate and providing sound information and resources.
What a great topic. As a lifelong exerciser (dancer, Walker, resistance training, and Pilates) I was shocked to learn I had osteopenia which then turned into osteoporosis. My doctor said “tall, thin, blonde”. Nothing worked to reverse it until I started Prolia infusions, now I am back to osteopenia…hooray! My late mother suffered horribly with numerous fractures that really affected her quality of life. Osteoporosis is no joke. For future subjects it would be really wonderful to have a list of time stamps to be able to quickly reference specific parts of the talk.
My Dr wanted me to take Prolia due to Osteopenia but I refused to take it. Prolia only works while you're taking it however once you stop, you'll be back at your original state as if you never took it. Like all drugs they have side effects.
Kevin was so helpful in guiding me through the maze of information about dealing with osteoporosis. His Bone Coach Program taught me about nutrition , diet and exercise, and so much more. It can be overwhelming trying to do it on your own. Kevin breaks it down in a very organized way.
Wow so awesome. So ironic I'm having a bone density test on May 22nd, but I already have Osteoporosis just want to see how worse it's gotten. I'm 73 and feel it. Will sign up for his free class. Thank you Dominique.
Yay !!!! You did your hair dark again. It looks so good on you. It brings out your beauty. I know it’s fun to color your hair, but this is really the best color for you. !!!! Trust me when I tell you I am a hair colorist !!!!!
Problem is most doctors don’t listen to us, even when we bring them the data with facts supporting them. We need more educated doctors for this issue. I’m angry about being Diagnosed with osteoporosis I did all the right things throughout my life and was never educated by anyone regarding osteopenia and osteoporosis.
You are correct. I’m 58 and asked my family doctor about possibly checking my hormone levels. Her response was ” what’s the point, you are post menopause, we know your estrogen levels are low”. That was it.
@@PM-gx2bp I’m sorry you too are dealing with this issue❤️ I’m in the process of Doing Bio identical hormone replacement therapy, has to be so much better then those nasty bone drugs. Believe me I have educated my 17-year-old daughter’s so they may dodged a bullet.
@@PM-gx2bp you have to be insistent on what you want. I tell my Dr what labs or tests I want if I have researched before hand. If they refuse, change Dr's.
I DON'T trust Dr.'s any more! The Allopathic model of medicine IS Antiquated & Inept, & all it's really based on is being Big Pharma's Legal Drug Dealers!
@@PM-gx2bp How DISGUSTING coming from Any Dr., But from a woman Dr.! It's just more proof of how INEPT they are, as well as the entire Allopathic Medical system! And many of us cannot afford to go outside of our insurance plans, IF we even have one!
I just signed up with Kevin’s program. Optimistic that he will have good ideas beyond the usual drug routes that most doctors want to put you on. I am 54 and was diagnosed with osteoporosis 4 years ago. Thank you Dominique for addressing this issue!
Thank you Dominique, im 72 already have osteopenia. I want that better quality of life. Im going to do all i can to get that. Thank you again for this podcast. ❤️ 😊
When I first showed my mom that my fingers had started to become stiff and painful and she told me I’d have osteoperosis like she does, I decided I was not going to let hereditary genes define my health future. I discovered ways to combat my onset and am happy to share that all my digits are now painless and mobile with no issues. So I agree that we all need to figure out what is really causing our health issues beyond what we are told. Thanks, Dominique!
I had a bone scan a couple of years ago and I didn't have bone loss, however, after listening to this podcast I have a feeling there may be an issue with the acid reflux medication that I was taking which I just discontinued. It was prescribed because of severity of the reflux affecting my esophagus, but it was causing other issues with kidney function. In listening to Kevin, which has made a distinctive impact in helping me realize what to focus on with my health journey, I heard him talk about combinations of supplements taking correctly better helps positive results and my digestion is a very big part of my not feeling well along with food consumption and exercise. My sleep is affected my energy level is low along with stiffness in my legs and back I feel are affected from inflammation. I want to join Kevin's master class to help me make the right choices for what I need to help myself feel better. Thank you very much for this podcast.
I am loving this! I'm at the "rebuilding" part of the podcast talking about nutrition. I know many people who assume they are eating the right way yet have not progessed beyond the "eat low fat foods and don't eat eggs" mentality. I love learning how to stay healthy and kickin'. This podcast is fantastic, greatly appreciated! Thank you to you, Dominique and The Bone Coach ❤
Thank you so much for this. I’m 64 and was diagnosed with osteoporosis last year. I’ve been working on this for a year and have increased my bone density. It can be done.
I must say Dominique - I watched Menopause Taylor on your channel and now access (privately) HRT in the UK. Thank you for introducing me to her invaluable information - literally saving my life.
Excellent information and podcast, today. Thank you Dominique for providing such great insight that unfortunately is so lost in the traditional medical environment. We definitely need this type of content. ❤
Dominique Thank you thank you thank you!!! This is so timely!! I recently had a CT scan for a heart procedure and there was concern about my back with regards to possible Osteopenia. My doctor suggested I show the scan to my Primary Physician for further diagnosis. I received so much insight as to how to have a conversation with my doctor about this situation. And I plan to look into the Bone Coach’s services. I have been following you for several years and have learned so much from your videos particularly hair and makeup tutorials. I think I look the best I’ve looked (if I don’t say so myself lol!) since following you. I’ve read your book found it inspiring. I feel very much at peace with my life physically and emotionally. My faith and self care has brought me to this point in life. God bless you and those you love. 💖🙏 Ann
@@lindamarocco4583 I am doing wonderfully! I was a bit nervous to start it as well but I have had NO side effects at all. I will go for my first DEXA scan in June to see how my bones are progressing. My next shot will be in August. I figure better to get the Prolia than to chance a broken hip or any bone for that matter... I'm happy I take them. Another thing I have noticed is My right hip use to always hurt off and on and since beginning Prolia it has not had any pain at all. They say Osteoporosis has no pain but who knows. Quite a coincidence I would say.
@@vickidland I am so nervous to start the shots too!…but, I fractured my pubic Ramos bone 6 weeks ago, I feel like I have to try something!…I am afraid of another fracture and taking the shots…do you exercise?..I was so happy to see your comment because I don’t know anyone that takes the Prolia shots!…thank you so much for responding!💜I will say prayers your bone density increases!!!!!🙏
Great podcast! Thank you, I am 64 and diagnosed with osteoporosis. On medication also making lifestyle changes with find and exercise. This was so informative! You are amazing at what you do, thank you!❤
Thank you so much Dominique and your guest Kevin Ellis. This is going to be so very helpful to us all and we appreciate you both for this informative and educational video of your wonderful second podcast session.
Thank you, Dominique. Another wonderful video. I was diagnosed with Osteopenia at 42. I had an early menopause at 38. I am 68 now and last year was diagnosed with Osteoporosis. I was getting bone scans every 5 years, but this time it dipped into osteoporosis. I started to take the drug Alendronate Sodium last Fall to build up my bone density. I do all the things I am supposed to do. I eat from scratch most of the time, eat greens and take protein powder. I take a lot of vitamin C because my urologist told me it helps with UTIs, along with an estrogen cream (which it has). I exercise every day, taking Step classes, Zumba classes, weight bearing classes, Yoga classes and Cycle classes. This hasn't helped at all. So now I am taking a bone drug. :-( But Kevin did mention something I found interesting. I always had stomach issues and did a lot of antacids in the past. But about 20 years ago, I took a blood test for food allergies. It said I was allergic to wheat. At first, I was very good about not eating wheat, but now, I have gotten sick of rice pasta and will occasionally eat real pasta or real pizza. Now I am wondering if I have a malabsorption issue. So, thank you once more. I will be armed with a lot more information to talk to my doctor about at my next annual physical. :-)
Thank you Dominique! I have osteoporosis from having parathyroid disease that was not diagnosed properly, even though I had the symptoms for more than 20 years . This was so informative and will be so helpful to so many people.
Thank you for sharing this information. I had my first bone density test this year and was informed that my test showed signs of Osteopenia. Of course, I've blamed everything on menopause. However, I still feel a bit confused and concerned. The only advice that I was given was to do weight-resistant exercises and to stay away from yoga to avoid possible fractures. Communication is key.❤
Such a wonderful podcast and timely! After many years of struggling with rhumitoid arthritis and fibro, I'm fighting back! My husband, daughter and I have just joined a gym, and loving it. I thought that pain had to be my lot in life with these conditions, but Have recently discovered these healing benefits of pilates and weight lifting. I will be turning 60 this summer, and just starting to feel like I'm finding myself after all these years serving others and taking care of myself last. No more. It's my turn to live, and taking care of my health is priority. Thanks for all your encouragement.
This was so helpful to me. I have bone loss and also do not have my gallbladder so that is contributing to not absorbing my minerals, vit. and such. I would like to hear more about how to handle that problem and helping my body absorb the proteins and everything else. Thank you Dominique for having Kevin talk with us.
Thank you for this conversation. I’m a young looking and young at heart 63 year old with osteopenia and osteoarthritis. Mum and aunts had it too but I’m still stunned that I have it. I was only offered meds.
Dominique! This was SO SO awesome. I was watching with my husband who gave me an "I told you so!" when Kevin mentioned sardines in a can! LOl. I can't do that....but, boy did I get a lot out of this podcast. I really suffer from so many joint issues and find it very difficult to exercise. This from a former dancer, gymnast, cheerleader, etc. It's heartbreaking and I really do suffer....two knee replacements, a spinal fusion and sever foot surgeries. UGH! But I keep going. I know I have to....but would love to know the best exercise for me with all of these issues. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this podcast!❤
Fantastic video. Thank you, Dominique! I am 68, did the bone density test last year, diagnosis osteopenia. I have been doing strength training 3 times a week since. Appreciate all the valuable information you provided and the Bone Coach was a great guest! Two thumbs up!
Perfect timing! I was just diagnosed with osteoporosis. I’m a former triathlete and my doc and are I thinking my bone loss is related to poor post-work out nutrition. Everything Kevin said aligns with what my doc advises. I will be checking out his resources as I need support! Dominique, thanks for addressing these timely issues!
I started having problems with my bone density at age 40. With the care of my doctor, I am now in the normal range for my bone density. Regardless, of your age bone density is important to us all.
Thank you so much! I have just been diagnosed with osteopenia at age 62 ive had bowel issues for 32 years and always felt my body didn't absorb vitamins well. I had danced and exercised all my life but even this wasnt enough apparently 😕 I am now researching all i can to try and reverse but looks like it will be a lot of work but worth it. And for all the other Brits watching, arugula is known as rocket in the UK. 😊
Awesome podcast Dominique! I learned more in this one hour than my lifetime of going to doctors. Today at 75 I am starting my new life of concurring osteoporosis one step at a time. Keep these great podcasts coming. I look forward to them.
Thank you! I listened to this one twice! I shared this info with my NP and Family Practice MD. They otherized all the testing to be done. ...and I have Medi-Care!
Great info as always, this young man knows his stuff and is so personable along with his knowledge. Listening to him puts me in mind of listening to Dr Eric Berg. I adore anything you do Dominique as you teach us. God's Blessings to you 🙏
So I am 66 and do not have osteoporosis but I do have osteoarthritis in my back and feet which is also very debilitating and was wondering if this information given in your interview can apply for the arthritis as well. Thank you so much for bringing us such important health information in our older age!
Thank You! Thank You! For addressing this topic. I administer Bone Density scans in a women’s health clinic. I have several new patients unaware of a DEXA scan. I’m happy to hear your recommended earlier age than what insurance recommends. Men and women should get a initial scan as early as possible.
This was the most informative Pod cast that I have ever seen! I have Celiac 45:0345:04 with Autoimmune and Osteo. I look forward to Kevin’s Master class. Thank you so much!
I agree! Just diagnosed with the O and scared out of my mind that I could fracture a bone at any moment. Best best podcast ever on this so important topic. Thank you all!
I had osteopenia at 70, went on Biote Identical Hormone pellet therapy and after one year went back to normal. I will continue on the therapy for the rest of my life, if possible.
Great content. I at 75 have a slight bone loss. I contribute this to being a non smoker, very little alcohol while raising a family and lots of great outdoor exercise while my children were growing up and always some sort of my own time exercise. Top that with growing up on a farm. Those chores always included heavy lifting/work. I agree today children just don't have this in their lives....
@dee swormstedt I am 65 and have osteoporosis and was offered by my OBGYN back when I was 55 to take prolivia. I didn’t. It has side effects like increases joint pain, gum tissue issues, jaw issues, and increases risk of fractures to name a few. I guess they didn’t have hormone therapy back then. But my sis was on estrogen pills after her hysterectomy and took them for years. She is a year older and she doesn’t have osteo because she was taking hormones. I was told one woman who took prolivia that by the second 6 shot her bones were almost back to a good range. I thought wow that’s amazing. But at what cost to the rest of her body. Take care
I too refused to take Prolivia. Instead I concentrated on building muscle. My last Dexa score came back as improved. I don't go to a gym, just simple work out at home.
@@lmae989 also bisphonates like reclast / prolifia / ALENDRONIC ACID / maintain old brittle bone ,that is why the risk of thigh fractures . HRT helps new bone growth so I chose that as the whole skeleton replaces constantly !
Love this video! I had hyper thyroid disease in my 40’s. The medication I took for a year caused osteopenia. I was then put on Fosomax for 7 years. I took matters into my own hands through dietary changes. I’ve always been physically active with a variety of exercise. I’ve staved off osteoporosis, so far but need do more. Thanks for the inspiration
Wow ! Thank you Dominique for this podcast on bone health with Kevin Ellis, Bone health coach, I’m going to my GP for a referral for the Serum CTO test as I think I may be suffering from all these issues, thank you Kevin and Dominique, this information is amazing and a big wake up call for us to get our GP’s to listen to us when we tell them our symptoms, love your Chanel Dominique and love your colour hair and style, looks great on you,
Hi Domenique My mother has osteoporosis and has suffered bone fractures in her back. This podcast has been so informative as I fell recently and broke my shoulder and I’m being referred for a bone density scan given that my mum has O. I now have so much more info from the podcast with Kevin re T scores and to ask for blood tests and follow up with all the other info on diet and supplements and weight bearing exercise. Great podcast and very timely! 👍💕 21.39
Thank you so much for addressing this topic, Dominique! Anti-hormone therapy after a breast-cancer diagnosis has forced me to focus on my bone health. Question: How effective is rebounding? I was told that rebounding is sensational for increasing bone density and health, but have since read discouraging reports. Now I’ve been told to literally jump (on my floor) several times a day to combat the problem. It’s difficult to know what’s most effective!
Thank you for presenting this subject. My sweet mom had osteoporosis and suffered with many fractures. She was also on fosamax for many years and, as a result broke her femur. There was a mention early on in the presentation that he would talk about medications such as fosamax. I have osteopenia and have improved my diet to include bone building foods although I can’t go the sardines route. I really would like to hear his view of medications such as fosamax. I have refused to take it.
LOVE the Bone Coach and so glad you thought to have him on! Kevin, why didn't you talk about the TBS added to the DEXA scan? We need help finding centers that offer this. Thanks!
Dominque thank you so so very much for taking the interest into this topic..bk in 2010 I was diagnosed with BC took Tamoxifen for 5 years..when I had my first Bone Density test bk in 2018 I was told I had the spine of an 80 year old I was then 60 years old..then I took another BD test in 2021 my numbers improved..I went this past Monday for my 6 month ckup at the Breast Clinic and they did another BD test I went from having Osteopenia to Osteoporosis with my my T-score being AP Spin (L1-L4) -2.5, z score -0.7 Femoral Neck (Left) T-Score -2.2, z score -0.7 Total Hip (Left) T- Score -1.6, z score -0.4 So you can certainly understand that when I saw your post with this video I was so excited..everything the Bone Coach explained was almost exactly as my oncologists explained..I am very active..I push mow my own yard weekly, watch my diet and very good at taking my boat load of supplements..she believes that I am not absorbing my calcium so she turned down my Vit D3 and upped my calcium and of course i have been on K2 and magnesium and was also recommended to do low bearing exercises with weights..I eat very healthy..I added collagen powder about three years ago but I do not take in any protein other than what I consume in a diet..I have never drank milk but do try to drink almond milk and I eat a lot of zero fat Fage yogurt with blueberries and blackberries…I hope you will Continue these health videos..I am 65 will be 66 in September so I want to learn as much as I can of ways to stay healthy & fit.. You are such a beautiful lady through and through and You have one Amazing you tube channel ♥️
Thank you, thank you so very much for this podcast. It's information that is very much needed and I'm thrilled that you are putting it out there. I am a 4 year breast cancer thriver. People have this idea that once you finish treatment you go back to your life as it was before you were diagnosed. This couldn't be further from the truth. Cancer changes you physically, mentally and in so many ways. After I finished 18 months of grueling treatment I was told that I have osteporosis in my spine and osteopenia in my left hip and all are chemo induced. I have had to deal with dental issues, cracked teeth, teeth falling out due to bone loss in my jaw and all related to the chemicals and toxins, radiation used during cancer treatment. I was also put on an Aromostase Inhibitor that essentailly lowers your production of estrogen. I was thrown back into full menopause symptoms and will be on this drug for a total for 10yrs. Bone loss is a major drawback with this drug(Anastrazole). So, not only have my bones been affected by all the drugs, chemo etc they are now even further compromised due to the AI that I will need to be on for 10yrs. I am on a mission to be healthy and do what I can to get my body back and this podcast has made me feel empowered and I will definitely look into Kevin's Masterclass so I can reclaim my health. Thank you once again Dominique for what you do. I am loving your podcasts thus far and can't wait to tune into the next one. Bless You.
I am 49 years old. I requested my DEXA last year (upon my own research). I found out I have osteopenia in my neck (I have always been health conscious). My doctor said, "We normally do not order until 65". That is TOO late. We MUST be our own advocates for health. The National Osteoporosis Foundation recommends people (at average risk - isn't this most of us???) get a DEXA scan starting at 65 (women) and 70 (men). My DEXA was also fully covered by my PPO. I also had my HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) done last year (having an updated one done as we speak) which shows which minerals are off (over 3 months). Serum only gives a snapshot. I am going to get the DUTCH Complete and GI Map tests done also. Also, don't go run out and spend $$ on synthetic Vit D and Vit C. Make sure you need it through an HTMA and get whole food D and C.
Thank you so much Dominique for all this helpful information. Normally you are just given the test, told what it says, end of story. I am sure I will listen to this again. I would also love to see a podcast on Iron deficiency anemia.
Wow Dominique l thank you for being gracious enough to mention Kevin’s website on your notes section, a lot of others refuse to list other people’s details.
Oh how I can relate. 15 years ago I had a bone density test and was told I had the bones of a 25 yr old, I am now 70. Every year I go to a family physician and get blood work done. Not one time did they suggest I should get a test every 2 years. So this year I went to another doctor and ask for the test. ( No specific reason, I feel great and as you say live a healthy lifestyle). But I always try to keep up on everything. Went into the test very confidently. Well, I am no longer in the green, but right below that level in the yellow, no calcium required at this point. So I ask how can I get to the green! And was told it was age. That did not work for me and I was so annoyed. So thank you very much for this, it is so difficult to have doctors listen to you. And by the way I absolutely love sardines in a salad, eat them 3x a week.
Post-menopause years take a toll on bones, brain, and heart health. There are hormone receptors systemically (all over the body), and when hormone levels drastically drop post-menopause (most notably estrogen), the risk rises considerably for osteoporosis, dementia, and cardiovascular problems. This is why HRT (hormone replacement therapy) is about much more than nightsweats, hotflashes, weight gain, sagging skin. HRT is not risk-free obviously, so each individual has to analyze her own specific risk/benefit scenario.
This was fantastic! I’ve been not-so-patiently waiting for this ever since you mentioned it months ago. It did not disappoint. Thank you for addressing this issue! I recently started bhrt, among other lifestyle & nutritional changes, to aid in stopping my bone loss. Looking forward to checking out The Bone Coach program. Keep the great podcasts coming, Dominique!
Thank you so much Dominque. I really have a sense of wellbeing, knowing that I can listen and watch your podcast, and getting some excellent information, that would greatly improve my quality of life. Thank you again for caring for us women and our future in our bodies.
Thank you so much for this! I am 57 and was recently diagnosed with osteopenia and told take calcium, vitamin D, and do weight bearing exercises. I also have IBS (diagnosed 2 years ago) and think I’m having some absorption issues that has caused hair loss and weight loss. I truly appreciate all the information and look forward to the Masterclass!😊
Great info. My husband regularly takes PPI. I stopped the video and shared the issues with him. We both take all the supplements suggested and try to make good food choices 80+% of the time. Side note: My father used to make us eat waffles and sardines on Catholic no meat Fridays for dinner. He loved them and said it was a necessity to get protein in the diet. I hated them and still do. Always won the “worst food combination” story.
Thank you! This was so timely and unexpected. I have a bone density scan coming up. Luckily I did my research and had a physician that is very consultative. But had I not done my research regarding my own health issues I do not think a bone density scan would have been recommended. We are our past advocates. And Kevin was right you can’t just be a passenger on that train.
This was super interesting. I had Reclast infusions for 3 years to combat my osteoporosis. Last scan show improvement in my hips and loss in my neck. I am 79.
This was fabulously wonderful information about our bones. I wish doctors understood this kind of information instead of filling us with prescriptions for our bones. When they show us our bone density report, they give us the negative talk like you are going to start falling and having fractures, you are getting older, you need to get on shots (I can't remember what it's called. Gwyneth Paltrow's Mom advertises it on TV.) But, this podcast was so positive and what I needed to hear. Ladies, let's not have doctors discount us like we are doomed for the worse.
I had osteopenia 2 years ago, went on clean keto at sardines, Salmon and weight lifting.
I’m 63 years old and Don’t have it anymore ❤
Well done, so pleased to hear this.
I have just been diagnosed with osteopenia am 62 years old and trying to understand what I need to do to reverse this
Keep well 😊
This is really encouraging
I too diagnosed with osteopenia. As I understand it you can slow the progression but never get rid of it.
That’s amazing and heartening for me to hear as I was told I have osteopenia 3 years ago. I refused meds to treat it so I feel out on a limb. Struggling to know what to do so your story is uplifting. Thank you ❤
What kind of weightlifting & how much & often do you do it at our age that can be difficult
I loved our conversation together. Such an important topic to preserve and strengthen the structure that’s going to carry us to an active future 💪🦴
Thanks for having me 🙂🙏
I was so excited to see you on Dominique’s podcast! I signed up for your program 3 months ago and was so excited that you interviewed me when I signed up! Your program is concise and interesting! Thanks Kevin!
Could you share what dose of Vit K & the Magnesium we should take with Osteopenia Dx? Thank you.
Thank you Dominique for including the Bone Health in your new Podcasts. Absolutely riveting. xx
Sorry for what your mom went through. Did she ever take any of the prescription medications that are offered for osteoporosis?
@@celeste-236 Thank you! Yes she took Fosamax for 2 or 3 years before all of the horrific side effects surfaced.
I have been on Thyroid medication for years & have Osteoporosis.
Thank you Kevin Ellis for your wisdom and coaching strategies. Dominique, keep the Over 50 & Flourishing coming, so mindful and helpful, we appreciate you. Thank you,
Thank you so much for watching and the kind words 🙏❤️
Wishing you many blessings and good health on your journey 🙂
Kevin
FANTASTIC PODCAST!! ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️
Did you have any issues with prolia?
I also have osteoporosis and have been on Prolia for the past 2 1/2yrs. Have seen much improvement in my “numbers”, too! 😊
Linda Rindels, hi! I have had zero problems or side effects with Prolia
But undeniably there are some serious side effects!
It's nice to see you discuss interesting topics in addition to makeup and beauty. Great interview!
So glad you like it!
Really fabulous. Thank you. Watch this one and the one with Audrey today. Loved both equally.❤️
@@PM-gx2bp
How DISGUSTING coming from Any Dr., But from a woman Dr.!
It was so nice of Kevin Ellis to give us free admittance to his pod cast for long term health of the skeleton. Very informative. Thank you
Thank you so much for this.
Thanks for listening and sharing, Lilia. Wishing you many blessings, good health, and stronger bones on your journey 🙂❤️🙏
Dominique
Thank you thank you thank you!!!

This was excellent! I’m 67 and have had to begin Prolia shots every 6 months. I love these pointers from the Bone Coach! Thank you Dominique ❤
How are you doing with the Prolia!??…i maybe starting it in July!!!…thank you!
Loved this informative podcast! The Bone Doctor was excellent and very easy on the eyes and ears😀.
Thank you for hosting Kevin. This was an excellent and informative podcast. Do more of these health and wellness podcast.
Thank you Dominique! I have osteoporosis from having parathyroid disease that was not diagnosed properly, even though I had the symptoms for more than 20 years . This was so informative and will be so helpful to so many people.
Patrice, can you tell what were your symptoms of parathyroid. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for sharing this information.
Stay away from yoga? I thought yoga along with weight bearing is good?
I had danced and exercised all my life but even this wasnt enough apparently 😕
I am now researching all i can to try and reverse but looks like it will be a lot of work but worth it.
Will be 55 in June and just got diagnosed with osteoporosis!! Thank you for this❤. No family history just low vitamin d
O my thank you It feels that you started this boardcast just for me. I struggle with osteophoses. Thank you.
Thank you! I listened to this one twice! I shared this info with my NP and Family Practice MD. They otherized all the testing to be done. ...and I have Medi-Care!
Still in my 30 but really appreciate this discussion and to be able to have this knowledge in my back pocket now.
I'm overdue for my bone density exam and this was a nice reminder! Thank you for such an informative video!
Thank You! Thank You! For addressing this topic. I administer Bone Density scans in a women’s health clinic. I have several new patients unaware of a DEXA scan. I’m happy to hear your recommended earlier age than what insurance recommends. Men and women should get a initial scan as early as possible.
YES! You are back to dark hair! LOVE IT!
This was the most informative Pod cast that I have ever seen! I have Celiac 45:03 45:04 with Autoimmune and Osteo.
Such a timely topic. Just turned 60 and will get my first DXA scan in a couple of weeks.
As someone already diagnosed with osteoporosis I would have liked to hear what the Bone Coach thinks about Prolia.
Me, too; currently getting the injection every 6 months.
Yay!
another change of hair color - so sophisticated😃
Love this video! I had hyper thyroid disease in my 40’s. The medication I took for a year caused osteopenia. I was then put on Fosomax for 7 years. I took matters into my own hands through dietary changes. I’ve always been physically active with a variety of exercise. I’ve staved off osteoporosis, so far but need do more. Thanks for the inspiration
Wow ! Thank you Dominique for this podcast on bone health with Kevin Ellis, Bone health coach, I’m going to my GP for a referral for the Serum CTO test as I think I may be suffering from all these issues, thank you Kevin and Dominique, this information is amazing and a big wake up call for us to get our GP’s to listen to us when we tell them our symptoms, love your Chanel Dominique and love your colour hair and style, looks great on you,
Hi Domenique
My mother has osteoporosis and has suffered bone fractures in her back.
Thanks!
Dominque thank you so so very much for taking the interest into this topic..bk in 2010 I was diagnosed with BC took Tamoxifen for 5 years..when I had my first Bone Density test bk in 2018 I was told I had the spine of an 80 year old I was then 60 years old..then I took another BD test in 2021 my numbers improved..I went this past Monday for my 6 month ckup at the Breast Clinic and they did another BD test I went from having Osteopenia to Osteoporosis with my my T-score being
AP Spin (L1-L4) -2.5, z score -0.7
Femoral Neck (Left) T-Score -2.2, z score -0.7
Total Hip (Left) T- Score -1.6, z score -0.4
So you can certainly understand that when I saw your post with this video I was so excited..everything the Bone Coach explained was almost exactly as my oncologists explained..I am very active..I push mow my own yard weekly, watch my diet and very good at taking my boat load of supplements..she believes that I am not absorbing my calcium so she turned down my Vit D3 and upped my calcium and of course i have been on K2 and magnesium and was also recommended to do low bearing exercises with weights..I eat very healthy..I added collagen powder about three years ago but I do not take in any protein other than what I consume in a diet..I have never drank milk but do try to drink almond milk and I eat a lot of zero fat Fage yogurt with blueberries and blackberries…I hope you will
Continue these health videos..I am 65 will be 66 in September so I want to learn as much as I can of ways to stay healthy & fit..
You are such a beautiful lady through and through and You have one Amazing you tube channel ♥️
Very interesting topic, great guest ! Thank you so much for this high quality podcast. You are doing such a wonderful job Dominique
Wow!!!!!!! THANK YOU for this wonderful podcast!!!!
Wow Dominique l thank you for being gracious enough to mention Kevin’s website on your notes section, a lot of others refuse to list other people’s details.
Yes! Carnivore lifestyle has helped me greatly!
The richest content podcast ever...just TOTAL.thanks! ❤
Simply outstanding! Thank you for sharing such in-depth knowledge with everyone.
God Bless you Dominique for helping people love you❤
Thank you Dominique for such an important and valuable conversation. I learned so much. Thank you.
OMG, all these issues are mine! Thank you, Dominique, I am eager to listen to this.
Excellent and very informative topic. Thank you for hosting The Bone Coach!
My favorite summer salad is arugula watermelon Parmesan cheese and a drizzle of lemon and olive oil Yum
I am older and learned a lot
I have sent this to several people
Amazing video, I'm 63 and have some issues on osteoporosis, love it. Thanks Dominique for all the great things you share, you are amazing too 👍
Thank you Dominique! Love your hair!
This was super interesting. I had Reclast infusions for 3 years to combat my osteoporosis. Last scan show improvement in my hips and loss in my neck. I am 79.
Dominique, Grear interview with such valuable information. What a wealth of information from Mr. Ellis. Thank you, Dominique, with your channel. xxxs
Always love the darker hair !
This was an awesome interview. Thanks so much for the information. Having osteoporosis myself I am always looking for new information.
