My local Sprouts has whole farro for pretty cheap, and I've been obsessed for MONTHS. It's like if white rice and oat groats had a lovechild, the texture is amazing yet it tastes mild enough to chuck into anything like white rice, it's the perfect whole grain. I cook my farro in the electric kettle for 40 mins, drain and cool, then put it in the freezer for grab-n-go meals.
Good question, I had to look this up! Seems like soft wheat is a type of wheat berry a bit lower in protein content than hard white wheat. It is different from farro.
I keep thinking about your healthy trifecta and so I want to try farro. I guess I am not a typical American because I almost always weight things instead of using volume measurements. So my question is, how would you weigh out your ingredients?
I want to hear your recipes for Farro, but those pop noises in the video are too annoying. lately on youtube, some people who have been using them are finally noticing and making newer videos with lowered pop sound effect volume. Anyway I like farro mixed with olive oil. one has to be careful though, although it's a lovely almost completely unprocessed whole grain, it can be calorie-rich, esp with yummy oils.
Thank you so much for this helpful feedback - noted! And I agree with you, if we are not measuring or paying attention to how much oil we add to our cooking it can go overboard!
Excited to give it a try!
That’s awesome! Hope you enjoy it!

That’s incredible! I couldn’t agree with you more - my absolute fav!!!
What's the difference between farro and soft wheat kernel? Do you cook it the same way? Thanks Dr Anna. I really enjoy your channel.

I tried farro in my foodi and it was pretty tasty. I bought pearled but next time I’m getting the whole.
Sounds good! Thanks for sharing :)
Yummy 😊
Glad you liked it!

good question - you absolutely can weigh out ingredients! I always do this with pasta
@@annapleetmd I figured I could, but how would that work?! Like 100g quinoa to 200g of water? How does the ratio work when weighing it?
Farro isn’t gluten free, is it?
no, it is not. But other grains like quinoa, oats (if not contaminated), amaranth, buckwheat are all GF!
