Quick suggestion: put a short line with a weight below the camera. You'll still feel the bottom but keep the camera out of the sand. I've also had success putting a trailing vane on the camera to keep it oriented while filming rivers and streams. Cheers
Put a go-pro mount atop a 1 to 3 lb., flat Lead, scuba diving weight. It will usually sit up right in the sand, and not move in the waves. Angle the camera to view the fish.
Quick suggestion: build a submarine and attach a 360 camera on it, fill it with enough fule to cruise around the ocean for a few hours, then post the footage for me to see. It might be very expensive but good luck. And this footage was great, thanks
Nice "under the sea" footage. Shark appears to be a black tip but there looked to be some bulls too. Thanks for your hard work and effort to make us land based fisherman get off our butts and go 🎣...while the yard is in need of sprucing up. Remember...all work and no play makes for a dull memory. That was so cool looking at those fish in their natural habitat ! Those piers will cut your line in an instant . Young man you always amaze me with every video you make ! Thank you for sharing .
Excellent idea to drop a waterproof camera down on a fishing line to watch the fish and nearby sea life. I never thought about that as an option, but it seems very accessible compared to scuba diving.
I used to spend almost every Mon-Sat morning fishing (pre-Katrina version) on that pier during the summer. Saturday was a toss up the rest of the year since we did spend time in Magnolia or Bon Secour River on the boat. This was a great video. And a great stimulus to remember the past.
Really cool video. U should definitely make more. Think I'm going to start doing this when we go fish off our boat. Some of the reefs and wrecks here in South Florida would be really interesting

I absolutely love watching the variety of videos that you put out, from surf fishing, gulf or Bay, pier, and I really like it when you drop your GoPro under the pier but I thought a few times that the sharks would win. Lastly, I appreciate you giving the Lord the glory in what you do….Keep Christ first!! Thanks again for the awesome videos!!
I probably only know about 25 percent of the fish that swim around the gulf pier but it is so cool that you did a video like this to show how those sheepshead eat off those pier pilings!!! Thanks Bama for a very educational video!!!
The "Name This Species of Shark" around 10:34, and I'm no expert, but it appears to be a Sandbar Shark (Carcharhinus plumbeus). That high dorsal fin and pronounced dorsal ridge are characteristic.
My first guess was a dusky. The dorsal looks like it's posterior to the pectoral, but it's hard to tell from that angle. The pec and the dorsal are very large like a sandbar though, so I'm seconding your guess on the sandbar.
How could anyone say anything ugly about this channel???? I love the videos and the little kid laugh every time he catches something is fantastic!! hahaha

I love underwater videos of fish and their habitat. I was watching your video on my tablet while on my TV the live underwater cam of the pier at Deerfield Beach FL was playing. Seems that however many fish are in the underwater videos has no relationship to how successful the fishermen are on the pier. 😂 Thanks for identifying the fish swimming by, I live a long way from saltwater.
It's very true! I have some diving buddies that say, when they're not getting bit on a hook, they jump in and still see plenty of fish down below, they just don't want to bite haha.
I thought for sure when that one shark came up to the go pro we were going to see what the inside of a shark looks like. I see you were using one of the Toadfish rod and reels. I bought one it's really nice and I like that they are helping to replenish the oyster beds. They seem like a very good company.
I had to pull the camera away from them multiple times, I can't afford to buy a new one lol. And I agree, Toadfish does some pretty beneficial stuff for the waterways.

Very interesting view. Been on that pier a few times and had never thought about doing that to see what’s there. Love the videos and as for the sharks... looks like the good old bull sharks. Thought I saw a black tip but couldn’t really be for sure.
Man, I was thinking the exact same thing with the sharks. Can't miss those broad bulls and the smaller one(s) I was thinking Black Tip too. Not really positive on either, but I think you are correct.
Definitely think one was looking alot like a Bull, the awesome close up of one really showing a longer nose and appeared larger than most black tips, and my feeling is that it was an Atlantic reef shark since didn't see a distinct black pattern on the top fins. Probably has several different names but just the bigger, farther traveling cousin of the typical little black tip.
Thank you. I agree, I love seeing them in their home. It's amazing how well they live in an environment that us humans can barely tolerate. Makes you appreciate our creator

hey Bama saltwater I've been watching you for a while and u taught me really good things. I also live in south Alabama and was thinking we could fish together its been a while and i would love to learn new tactics and discover more fish.
Great shark footage! Those appear to be blacktip to me(lack of black on anal fin) but I'm still learning how to ID. Do you ever use sabiki rig to catch bait off pier?
That's what I'm thinking as well. There's usually some spinners mixed in too. and I used to use sabikis all of the time (when the pier was whole)! Alabama also allows the use of the Ribbon Rigs as well.
Should Try To Put Go Pro In And Drop A Bait Right Next To Eat To Watch The Fish Eat It. That Was Amazin Ocean Life Right There ! Been Watch All Your Videos For 2 Weeks Now. Great Content
I’m no expert, but I think you had 3 different species of sharks there, at some point some looked like Black Tip, some like Bull, and maybe Reef Shark. It would be cool if a biologist or a shark expert could comment and make a positive ID of all of them. Very nice video!
You did an incredible job of controlling the camera from up above. Not sure how it didn’t just spiral constantly. You got some really great footage. Can’t wait for you to do this again on a clear sunny day or in deeper water like you suggested, or BOTH! lol
My wife and I harassed Bama while he was on the pier :) I caught some pompano and she caught some spade fish. The sharks were unbelievable, there were ALWAYS ten or more to be counted & all of them were big. I caught a 12” flounder (not big enough to keep) and when I threw him back a shark came out from under the pier and inhaled it like a bass eats a minnow. RIP lil flounder :(
That was just awesome. Man you sure are very observant and a quick eye. I saw the stuff you mentioned in a flash but much of it without still editing and that eye I would never have noticed. Pretty exciting to see it the way you bought it to us!
Man this is awesome thanks for doing this keep up the good work ! And was it a blacktip? I don’t have very much experiences with sharks other than ex wife.

anytime ! I have some cool ones planned in some deeper water ;)
hey Bama saltwater I've been watching you for a while and u taught me really good things. I also live in south Alabama and was thinking we could fish together its been a while and i would love to learn new tactics and discover more fish.
Good ol gulf shores, epic spot to take the kiddos fishing 😊
this camera can save someone a lot of time figuring out if their fish in your fishing spot.
Great video, we come down from Michigan every year and can’t wait to get back on the pier
It looks like it was a black tip shark. The darker color on the end of the fins. Pretty cool footage.
just saying dusky's have that same patterning I belive, but dont kow where they live but yeah I do kind of agree that it was a blacktip
These under water pier vids are so cool.
I love seeing what's below
Great shark footage! Those appear to be blacktip to me(lack of black on anal fin) but I'm still learning how to ID. Do you ever use sabiki rig to catch bait off pier?
That's what I'm thinking as well. There's usually some spinners mixed in too. and I used to use sabikis all of the time (when the pier was whole)! Alabama also allows the use of the Ribbon Rigs as well.
Thought they outlawed the ribbon rigs. Maybe it was just Florida
@@glenperry8849 Florida outlawed Gill nets, which includes ribbon rigs. Alabama still allows it so far (unfortunately, in my honest opinion)
I think that was a silky shark. The white strip behind the pectoral fin gives it away. I’ve been wrong before. Lol
more like lemon shark to me.
What’s a biologist?
@@etbaby6967 What's a woman?
Wrong area for Black Tips, those are Bull Sharks
@@Cundalinis_Hand
I don’t understand the question. I’m not a Linguist.
@@clanger_6870 Wicked Sharks. Great fighters.
Ready to see that new boat on the water.
You did an incredible job of controlling the camera from up above. Not sure how it didn’t just spiral constantly. You got some really great footage. Can’t wait for you to do this again on a clear sunny day or in deeper water like you suggested, or BOTH! lol
We enjoyed the video and the Go Pro angle under the pier. It's always nice to see a "no drama" type video from our area that's just cool to watch.
Thank you , I'm glad you enjoyed it
hey bama im a big fan and really look up to your content and your personality hope you have a great day and god bless!
Thank you for your kind comment
Awesome video!!!! Love the underwater footage!!!!! Great job!!!
Thank you!! It's fun to see what's down under
My wife and I harassed Bama while he was on the pier :)
I caught some pompano and she caught some spade fish. The sharks were unbelievable, there were ALWAYS ten or more to be counted & all of them were big. I caught a 12” flounder (not big enough to keep) and when I threw him back a shark came out from under the pier and inhaled it like a bass eats a minnow.
RIP lil flounder :(
It's shame for sure! At least ya'll caught some fish!! haha. It is cool to see them in their natural habitat though

Black Tip
Very neat!! And kinda creepy. Needs Jaws background music 😂😂
Haha, IKR. It wouldn't take long to get bumped if ya fell in
I cannot believe people actually jump off those piers after what you showed us
How do you see all those sheeps and not want to throw down some fiddler crabs! Awesome content man.
Fisherman on the pier be man they ain’t no fish down there ! Hahahaha

Oh how fun !! Watching this made me feel a bit like Mr. Limpett :-)
Really enjoy this video. Keep posting
Awesome footage of a place that's very interesting under the pier and thank you for taking the time to post 🤙👍.

This is awesome. What a great idea!!!
This makes the GoPro worth the price, that shot of the shark was cool! And the video is awesome, what setting are you using?!?🤙
Miss them pier fishing days in the SF Bay area. Massive stingrays off the Berkeley pier. Now it's lake and river fishing on the Pecos, NM
Now that's a fish finder, not just a blip on a screen...Very cool !
Alright...you got points for making it educational as well by naming all the sea life that was encountered. Great vid...keep making more sir!!!! Subscribed!!!!

Jacques Cousteau himself would be very proud! This is great! Humans love the unknown I could watch this for hours! (Btw I sub’ed like a tool should, but because you are good at this youtube!)
