My granddaughters are constantly on either tv, tablet, or video games. I had to babysit them yesterday (the oldest is about to be 9 and the youngest will be 8 in January). I don’t even have WiFi at my house so you can imagine the complaints and whining. I made them play in the creek, after a few minutes they started trying to catch minnows and had the time of their lives.
@kellyforrester-6180 I know exactly what you're saying. I don't have WiFi either and my grand kids hate it. All they want to do is play games. They're air conditioner babies too and it's hard to get them outside if it's very warm. I have hope in my six year old grandson though he loves the garden and planting and eating what we plant. I keep him while my daughter is at work at a nearby hospital. I'm afraid as he gets older though he'll hate coming over because I won't get WiFi 😢
My siblings and I stayed outside all summer. We were rarely bored. Lol
We made up games, and ‘adventures’. (A lot of time we got in trouble about our adventures).

I remember getting a hoe and when it would rain the small ditch in front of our house and taking out crawfish. What fun. We would put them back when we were finished.

Every summer my youngest grandbabies (currently 8, 7 &4) come down from late June until just before school starts ( 1 month +/-). My son their, single Dad allows and uses a lot of technology to help him manage. They always want to come even knowing electronics are not allowed and only one small toy can be brought. Having a small 10 acre farm with lots of different animals and activities they never complain. I think the activities; foraging, gardening, baby animals and a nearby lake with a beach area key 😊

How easy it is to get caught up in the news of the day, and get distracted, waiting for the other shoe to drop. I’ve started walking daily and changing what I eat, while gardening, preserving and preparing for whatever life throws at us. I pray for discernment, and peace/prosperity for our country. Thank you for your guidance.

I’m a woman who worked at a man’s job for 30 years… I saved my money to buy 33 acres and a house … I took what my parents left me and paid that land & house off .. now I don’t have a payment … I shoulda bought a cab tractor while I was working but I didn’t … I’m very thankful to God for what I have though..and to Him for giving me the good job that helped me get it.
Thank you for the porchtimes that we all look forward to and for everything else that yall do to help all of us all … we love yall.

Danny and Wanda, maybe it’s just me but I noticed yesterday (Monday, 7/22) in the late afternoon that the sky and the shadows at my home seemed more like Fall time coming in. Usually in the Deep South this doesn’t happen until end of August and into September. But you could feel it, you could smell it and the shadows seemed longer… We’re moving faster & I know the Good Lord has a plan, but it’s like even the seasons are jumping ahead a little bit. Let’s be extra thankful for every day we have because time is a moving….♥️🙏♥️

I still own land that was left to me by my grandfather, I am the sixth generation to own this land. I cherish the land and all of the hard work by my ancestors that it has taken to own the land and I hope that my son and grandchildren will do the same. As my grandfather said…”keep your land, there not making anymore of it. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. The money is spent and your left with nothing.”♥️🌽👏🏼

I spent 20+ years in nursing, mostly night shift. Never knew what day is was & I still don't...lol I don't even bother with the time cause I'm doing what needs to be done when I can. Thanks for the talk Danny ❤
Yes Sir Mr. Danny, I also believe everyday is the same. When we live our lives for Christ everyday we walk in the light and we are shepherds for Christ as other folks will look to us and wonder? Why are they so calm and driven? Because we wake up and go where God wants us to go and do what we are told to do. We make the choices that are pleasing to God and repent when we don't make the best choices.
I have learned to greatest lesson in life! Look for the doors God has opened for us choose those and stop fighting with the locked doors. The locked doors are not for you they are for someone else. Do not be envious of your neighbor and brother's successes. Be supportive of them encourage them as you would hope the same for yourself. God gives us each different gifts and following the path created for us gets us to the best places sooner and easier.
So for me everyday is a gift from God and one day closer to the everlasting life of heaven.
In 24 years, I've remembered our anniversary 2 times. My husband is very understanding... His mom was upset that his dad took the dog to the vet on their anniversary, and she said to my dh "how would your wife feel if you did that?" He said "she wouldn't even know, or care."

Virginia here! My family has been in Virginia since before we fought the Yankees! You better believe we’re Country and Southern! Don’t y’all in the Deep South call us northern, now. The South is all the States that stood together against the Yankees back in the day. Proud Southerner and proud Virginian!!

We had been in Horrible drought since the end of May. It was Bad! I think our whole State was praying for rain and now God has blessed up with about a week of rain and cooler temps. The fields are greening up again and we are so thankful! We grow and raise almost all our food and the drought was tough!
Blessing hearts in TN territory since 1790 ❤. Virginia was 1st; Tennessee was 11th. Not had to mow in almost 3 weeks now, but as my wise Gmother always said when faced with a drought, "it has rained before and it will rain again."

I stay away from the news . I watch preaching. And real homesteading. To learn more about God and how better myself in preserving and storing up food .

Thank you once again for your words of wisdom, Danny! It's so easy to get caught up in the moment, but it's so important to be as prepared as possible for the future, especially in this crazy time that we are living in today.
lol, same here about the days. If it wasn't for a couple of lives I watch regularly, I wouldn't know what day it was. lol. I spent most of my life helping others achieve their goals. I don't believe it is too late. I am about to embark on my own journey, exciting but a little scary at my age, especially with the times we are living in now. I am using my little bit of inheritance to start achieving my dreams.
It's funny how we live through everything, even our anniversaries LOL. God bless you both on this special day!

Your ending statement is absolutely true. My uncle who was very successful in life said to me as a child (when I asked him how it feels to have lots of money and success - he was the mayor of his small town) he answered very wisely, "it's ok to have money, but I enjoyed the journey to working from nothing to gain what I wanted. The journey is what we have to enjoy." I was one of those fools who gained an inheritance that my mother was such a good steward of by living thrifty....and I blew it in one year. My depression over losing my mother who was literally my best friend had taken me over and I just didn't think about planning for a future. When I see her in heaven I know she will ask me why I spent it all unwisely and I'm ashamed of it. But if you young folks are out there, please at least pay extra money down on your mortgages to pay down on your house if you aren't a thrifty saver....it will help to give you a nest egg until you wise; get thrifty and plan for the future so you won't regret how you spent your life.

A late anniversary to both of you. Days run together and you keep so busy that it's easy to overlook those things
like anniversaries, etc. I relate to every day is just another day and just have work to do.
I want who God wants and not taking any side. Looking at the big picture rather than just a narrow vision of things.
If I want something I have to save for it being retired. Not going to spend foolishly and have nothing.
You invested wisely to use the money from your daddy's place to build that shop. A worthwhile investment

Good morning. I would appreciate prayers for my grandson Julian. He has had depression taje hold of him. He is unemployed and losing his place to lìve. He has no mode of transportation and is over 700 miles away. I talk to him on the phone, but he is frozen. He just stopped doing anything.

Depression is a horrible thing. I applaud you for realizing that it is NOT a “feeling sad” mood. I have worked my way thru it - it is debilitating. I have a lot of lost years from this. I wish I had a solution for you. My faith has carried me thru. Keep doing those phone calls! ❤ That love and support comes through, even if you just talk about simple things like what you’ve been doing and your own stories of tasks and accomplishments. Small gestures….consistency is the key. May God bless YOU as well. 🙏🏻
My late father’s job required constant travel. The family traveled with him living in a trailer all across the country. We finally stopped traveling when I was in the 6th grade. Long story short I am 70 and have never hung a picture on the wall. What he says is so important about giving children roots if you can.

Lots of good points about inheritance. I live in north Alabama and the farmland is turning into cheaply built neighborhoods as fast as they can be. People are complaining about the farmers selling their land and how there should be a law that doesn't allow that so neighborhoods can't be built. Those families worked that land for generations to send their children to college so they can have a better life. Those children now don't want the land, can't afford it and don't know what to do with it anyway. There's a lesson there about giving your children things you never had instead of teaching them what you know. And the people complaining about the farmland disappearing sure aren't beating a path to the farmer to buy any of it.
You are such a wise man and such a good person!
Wish I could send you guys the rest of the rain that we supposed to get. For this month we have had 7.31 inches so far. My poor garden is flooded . We are supposed to get some dry days next week so I hope the water will go down . June was a very dry month for us with no rain . I know it could be worse we could have had another month of nothing. I’m thankful and y’all I planted strike string beans okra and beets and they all were up in no more than three days . It’s that wet here in Wayne county NC . The corn looks some kinda good . Hope the seeds do good for me next year .

Yes I feel the same… I’m middle Mississippi , it’s hard to think of Virginia and the Carolinas as being south. I’ve had more rain this month than I had in a 5 month time last year!

Every day is less normal than the previous. In less than a week we have had an attempt on a candidate’s life, a strange document announcement on Twitter for a Pres. and the head of an agency step down…that’s A LOT for a country…hard to stay focused on the Lord but more important than ever now!!
Danny and Wanda, me and my husband of 49 years have both forgotten our anniversary a couple of times. Lol

Having lived a lot of my childhood in Central Florida, the 'South' isn't until the Panhandle lol. Florida Peninsula is more Yankee-ish. Panhandle is considered 'LA' for Lower Alabama, because there isn't and difference. I lived there too, along with actual lower Alabama. Now here in Perkinston, and hopefully never moving again. I couldn't tell you about Southern Texas though! Thanks for porch time Mr Danny, I always enjoy it ❤🙏🏻
