but if you think about it, that's why kpop industry is so popular: it's not really (only) about music, but visuals, entrainment. Idols (more like companies) try to build this special relationship with the fans that most of the times is not healthy at all. First of all, they play on visuals a lot, they provide A LOT of content so that fans spend more time watching the videos, the more they watch the videos, the more they feel closer to the idols. They make fans believe that idols are innocent, pure and funny people while in reality they _might_ be the opposite. That's why kpop is really popular among younger (or vulnerable?) fans.
It's so ironic that kpop companies expect their idols (idol groups) to sing about love and dating without ever being allowed to experience it in the first place xD

Joking aside this is so interesting, it's like listening to a podcast. I've been a fan of KPOP since 2010 and although I've read/heard stories of how's it like in the industry, hearing it from a former trainee's perspective is illuminating. Much respect to your faves

that's the thing. i really want my faves, if they're dating, to be with someone nice who makes them feel loved, because they ABSOLUTELY deserve it. they're adults, so they can make their own choices and differentiate bad from good, but we're humans and we all make mistakes, so if they happen to choose someone bad for them, they'll have to deal with the pressure of an idol AND a heartbreak : (
some questions i have in mind: - what did your diet consist of in a typical day as a trainee and how did this differ as an idol? - how is it like backstage at music shows? do boy groups and girl groups mix easily? - how easy is it for idols to exchange numbers? - how can so many idols get away with dating??? how do they do it? - are idols aware of ships? (this includes ships with their fellow members, as well as ships with the opposite sex) do they know about all the edits and fanfics etc? - realistically how much time do idols have to call/video call/hang out with each other outside of their schedules? - do female idols have to be on the pill...? incase they end up pregnant lol - how much do idols gossip between eachother? like does everyone know who’s dating who and what the tea is lool
For the ships, they definitely know. I knew Sana said 'Saida' once in a show. They probably also know about the fanfics. I know Bambam used his insta to open a BTSVelvet page instastory and Peniel roamed Sungjoy fanpages regularly. For internationally very popular ships like Sungjoy, Sungjae and Joy even noticed shippers more than once, their shippers fanbase even have a picture photographing their gifts with Korean 'BBYU' on it. I think some of your questions are actually very general. Celebs are actually normal people, just imagine yourself how you got your crush's number, how often you gossip, etc. Based on how idols gather like normal friends and date off cam, you could really assume some things. And that probably also answer your question about contraception. I despise reckless way of living like that, but i think it's inevitable in glamorous lifestyle such as celebrities.
Ofc every idol is dating...Like EVERY idol. I mean look at them, they’re hot af they’re talented they’re cool, people need to wake up from their dreams
Fr it's even so common for korean netizens to be kinda obsessed with being skinny, dieting and kalorie counting so I don't even wanna imagine how bad it is with idols
Honestly I’m glad idols are dating, and I feel like it should be normalized. There’s nothing wrong with having feelings for someone, or wanting to spend your life with someone.
If that happens then fans won’t be as dedicated. It’s easier for delusional fans to fantasize dating someone that is “single” than someone that has a girlfriend. If idols date openly then can bases won’t be as strong it’s just the marketing style of kpop.
I think there has to be an extend to dating. I think dating should be forbidden for the first two years of becoming an idol because idols shouldn’t get distracted by trying to find someone to love so quickly, and it would be better to focus on your career than to focus on your relationship for the first two years of debuting.
@@Justmeeh._._._. I don’t see why that should be the case though. The problem is kpop debut idol debut too young. And just the industry’s insistence on the idols on being all innocent and perfect that cause these problem. If they were allowed to leave a little dating and breaking up shouldn’t be a problem. At the end of the day them being single sales and makes fandom more dedicated that’s why they won’t be allowed to date in public.
@@mangomanoko2870 Companies debut idols at a young age so they can perform longer. I think 16 is a good age to debut but that’s also an age when a teenagers hormones will kick in and that’ll cause relationships to happen. Nowadays, kids start dating at a very young age like 13 or 14 which I think is really stupid. If you wanna be in a serious relationship, then it should be by the time you get to high school at least. Relationships can also lead to scandals. If you’re dating someone at a young age then you’re bound to tell your lover things that the public shouldn’t know about, but what if you guys breakup and your lover reveals all your dirty secrets out of anger? That’ll cause a problem. Scandals will happen and in most cases, your whole group may have to disband. Like I said before, I think a good age to date is 18 instead of a young age like 15 or 17.
Is fanservice legit? ex. when a ship is popular, do some idols really get told in their in-ear to hug them, or just generally get told to be more chummy or act a certain way with members? Are there any idols who do this voluntarily to try and increase their popularity?

Fun fact; Rosé of BLACKPINK actually tries to gain weight. Many times she mentioned how she is on a diet to gain weight and Lisa as well. Jisoo confirmed this she said "I'm not like my members. I need to be more careful about what I eat, but Lisa and Rosé are actually trying to gain weight" Rosé's sister and mom are also super thin, so I think it's about the genes
I can feel rosè's situation... I've been so skinny my whole life and I've been trying so hard to gain weight for years. Until now im still trying gain and its hardddd D× i look like a walking twig🙃
And for her comeback rose looks so bony it's concerning. It's like she overpracticed and didn't eat enough to makeup for whatever she lost. Hope she can get healthier in the upcoming days.
I've seen a lot of ex-kpop trainees sharing experiences and stuffs. And something that I found in common when it came to friendship of group members was that, most of the time everyone is good to each other. One member expelling is not usually the case of bad situation between members, but rather between the person and the company. So that put me into relief, knowing that probably behind the camera, all the members are still on good terms. But with the recent uproar of bullying cases in groups, I am starting to doubt. Would love to know if it's just drama (simply not clicking), or is it actual bullying. Also, with the resurfacing of this issue, how do you see the so-called 'closeness' between members have when they are in public?
"they're dating... eachother." it makes sense idols would date other idols because they get the lifestyle but at the same time the lifestyle is super busy and chaotic which makes it hard to date altogether.
When someone wants to date they'll find a way. Twice are one of the busiest groups yet at least Jihyo and Momo found time to establish relationships. Idols I think are quite used to socializing at weird hours.
yea but if you think about it if only one of them had that crazy busy schedule the other person would never understand and easily feel ignored and unloved
I'm so glad to know that our idols are dating like the delulu fans are the real problem here. the company would let them date if that kind of fans will stop living in their fantasies and accept that their idols CAN date.
tbh i wanna date some idols but if they date good for them but some fans take it to the next level for example when jungkook hanged out with his friend and fans attacked her like chill he is human and even if he dated her they should support him not attack the girl
Hearing all this, I think it's better to admire idols than to be an idol, life is tough for idols especially when fans want to control them and their lives
I find it unfair thought that foreign kpop idols are paid faaar less even if they worked their asses off like Lisa from BlakcPink, Sorn/Elkie CLC, Yuqi/Shuhua/Minnie from G-idle etc.

@@brennathecatlover4360 I’m well aware there are idols who date non celebs but they are more likely to date other idols. It’s like a 95 to 5 percent ratio
Idols are obligated by their companies to have the "single" image bc that way more albums sell and stock price rises. Think about it, when fans think about an idol, they might think of the idols as their "bf","gf", "bff", "lover". For some fans, it's uncomfortable when you want to think that way about a "taken" or "non single" idol. So they stop stanning that idol and move on to another. Don't believe me? After it was found out that chen of exo has a non celeb gf who's pregnant and that's why they're getting married, "fans" literally protested on the streets to kick him out of exo. What do they do when it's their birthdays? They spend almost thousands of dollars to send gifts. It's like " you can be ours and when you're not, we're throwing you out" This is so so sad bc it's literally materializing and objectifying idols. They're not thought as humans. The more we normalize dating, the more cute couples like edawn and hyuna we get.
i kinda agree but let me correct you with the part of Chen’s marriage. Him and his gf were already engaged when she got pregnant. The words you typed might misunderstand by some 😊
@@melodybesasify thank you for the correction! ☺️ I said that because that's what most of the articles had written. Chen got engaged and then married hurriedly because his partner was already pregnant.
If you see how much they do for a member's birthday, it seems as if they're obsessed. It's like they've got no life outside being a fan of a boyband it's seriously annoying
y'all here don't even know what homophobia is, do you???? it's DISLIKE against gay people and it has nothing to do with coworkers and idols (or whatever y'all were saying) dating each other like..HELLO??? don't assume that someone is homophobic if u don't even know yourself what this word means :)
You know I can totally understand the whole dating thing. I mean really imagine being an Idol, who else could better understand and bond with you than another idol, and even from the same company. ofc not everybody is like that, but it is much easier to bond with someone if they have been through the same struggles and experience similar problems. I mean maybe in the beginning before you debut it‘s easier to date outside, but I am sure it is weird if you are famous and finding someone who isn‘t famous to date you, because i‘m sorry but it‘s very cringy to date a fan. Like If I were famous I would not want to date someone who knows a lot about me and idolizes me instead of treating me as a normal human being, and potentially getting disappointed because idols are real people and they don‘t live up to every projection you have put onto them how ‚perfect‘ they are. So really it‘s all understandable. But it would be nice for you to make a video to go more indepth, as I find it really interessting how it‘s all done since it‘s so secretive. And I don‘t know about other people but I honestly really support the idols and them having relationships. I mean that‘s how they grow, it‘s a part of life, they are just human and should also be able to have their experiences just like other people do too.
@@grachi0matilda It‘s a bit like that. Altough we do have to take into consideration that idols are famous people, and that is a huge difference for someone who is not famous by default. I mean ofc I am sure some idols might enjoy dating someone who is not famous, but then that will probably never be a fan, bc once again it is hella weird. So they would probably search for someone who doesn‘t know who they are to be able to just have a normal and healthy relationship and life, but even that might change once the other person would find out they were/ still are famous. So yeah generally it is really easier dating someone who is an idol already too.
I mean Exo's Chen dated a non-celebrity for years, ended up marrying her and they even had a baby last year😊 There have also been quite some idol couples who broke up because both of their schedules were too full to have time to take care of their relationship😢
@@fluffymarshmallow2881 Yes that‘s true! I mean both are understandable. as I already mentioned I encourage idols having relationships bc they are all a part of our lives and how we grow. I mean no matter in the end I encourage everything that encourages idols health, happiness and growth as people 🤗
It’s pretty obvious majority of idols are dating even though they hide it. I mean some are single, but you expect me to believe majority of idols are single (especially the ones in their 20s-30s) and that they won’t find love? Lol Let’s be realistic. No matter how busy you are, if you fall in love, you fall in love. There will always be those bashers/delulus, but I hope idols dating can be normalized and be supported by the majority more. If we can date and fall in love, then so can they.

- Is the dating ban only for trainees? - Since you know some idols date, does this mean they are somewhat open with it in the agency? Do the managers know? Can they do something about it? (Same question also applies to the situation below) - Regarding idols dating within their group, how common is it to find LGBTQ+ idols? I know they’re not open to the public, but do managers and other members know?

I absolutely love you two together! When I saw this was posted I grabbed my mug and wrapped myself in the blankets bc I knew this was gonna be good! I would love to hear more about dating within the group whenever you guys do this again. Also how do trainees feel to leave their families/home countries at 13 years old. Is training a lot of pressure or it is just viewed as an after school activity. How do idols deal with jealousy and feeling like just another back up singer/dancer to another member who gets more opportunities. Take your time, we know you both have different schedules and it might be hard to get together.
Also for the people in the comments trying to force your fantasies/desires on your idols, remember they are people too. You can’t force them to come out or out them! For some of you guys to be apart of the LGBTQ community some of y’all should know better. Y’all knew what it felt like for someone to out you or label you as something that weren’t so why do it to your idols. They will come out when they’re ready. Until then keep it neutral.

I'm curious if there are any gay/lesbian trainees that became idols (obviously hiding it from the public) and what companies thought about that of what they would do if they find out if a trainee is gay/lesbian
I watched a crayon pop members yt vid and she spoke about how there is an app that lgbtq+ (mainly gay/bi) idols use thats similar to tinder so they kind of have an awareness as to who is or isn't gay, I think she said its mainly used by idols and actors/actresses but I'm not sure if its exclusive to only them, i think it was though for their protection. She also said there are many lgbtq+ idols in the industry and its pretty common, idols privacy is a priority to most companies so they just leave it be, that part is what I assume as Korea have a very dont ask don't tell approach to peoples lives especially with sexuality, they can suspect as much as they want but unless they're explicitly told something they just mind their business.
On the contrary, I'm glad they're dating!! They deserve to love someone who understands them without having all of their private business aired out to public every time! 💕

that's the thing. i really want my faves, if they're dating, to be with someone nice who makes them feel loved, because they ABSOLUTELY deserve it. they're adults, so they can make their own choices and differentiate bad from good, but we're humans and we all make mistakes, so if they happen to choose someone bad for them, they'll have to deal with the pressure of an idol AND a heartbreak : (
@@harmonyfuntime1082 oh ok
some questions i have in mind:
- what did your diet consist of in a typical day as a trainee and how did this differ as an idol?
- how is it like backstage at music shows? do boy groups and girl groups mix easily?
- how easy is it for idols to exchange numbers?
- how can so many idols get away with dating??? how do they do it?
- are idols aware of ships? (this includes ships with their fellow members, as well as ships with the opposite sex) do they know about all the edits and fanfics etc?
- realistically how much time do idols have to call/video call/hang out with each other outside of their schedules?
- do female idols have to be on the pill...? incase they end up pregnant lol
- how much do idols gossip between eachother? like does everyone know who’s dating who and what the tea is lool
please answer them!!!!
yessss

Like I said before, I think a good age to date is 18 instead of a young age like 15 or 17.
yes i know but that's one of the reasons kpop is popular

Idols are obligated by their companies to have the "single" image bc that way more albums sell and stock price rises. Think about it, when fans think about an idol, they might think of the idols as their "bf","gf", "bff", "lover". For some fans, it's uncomfortable when you want to think that way about a "taken" or "non single" idol. So they stop stanning that idol and move on to another.

Like this thing where people says that doctors date doctors because they understand the schedule?
@@grachi0matilda It‘s a bit like that.
Altough we do have to take into consideration that idols are famous people, and that is a huge difference for someone who is not famous by default.
I mean ofc I am sure some idols might enjoy dating someone who is not famous,
but then that will probably never be a fan,
bc once again it is hella weird.
So they would probably search for someone who doesn‘t know who they are to be able to just have a normal and healthy relationship and life, but even that might change once the other person would find out they were/ still are famous.
So yeah generally it is really easier dating someone who is an idol already too.
I mean Exo's Chen dated a non-celebrity for years, ended up marrying her and they even had a baby last year😊

This might be a bit sensitive, but do foreign trainees/idols receive some degree of racism? Or are they treated differently from Korean individuals?
im sure they do sadly. You can see how some of them are being less paid just for not being korean.
I honestly love how they spill the teas in the kpop industry hahahah like they are just casually sharing to us like how best friends gossip hahahaha I love them
Now this is THE tea I have been waiting for
How do idols cover their stretch marks? I’m curious like when female idols are wearing shorts, how do they manage to hide it?
I think they just wear makeup, skin colored tights, or the photos are edited.
High waist pants , there is reason why we don't often see navels.
@@Jem5122 Right everyone has imperfections. It’s easier to hide them if it’s possible
Tone up cream maybe?
@@Jem5122 one former female idol i dont remember who said that they use foundation + moisturizer on entire body and the camera people edit to make them look flawless without sweat patches or marks
OMG gina lived with iu?? that’s so insane wow
“They’re dating...each other” “and with the members of the same group” jevdisgsiehei SPILL MORE 😭🤚
yes please!!!!
Yes please hahaha
It's highly possible tho, there are times that a company would not let their trainees to meet other opposite sex trainees too. Your members are the only people around you 😂
@@Ravyyy1001 that doesn’t mean they’re gonna turn gay though
@@brennathecatlover4360 gay people exist tho a lot of idols are probably gay/bi
wow you REALLY spilled all the tea these videos are so good, and the weight/body image part... god that is traumatizing
Gina and Coco are stunning, real and well articulated. This is the first video I watch from them, one of many...
I’m just glad my idols are dating. For my group they just all seems like workaholic so i was scared that they dont have the time to date 😭 but yes plz be dating and HAPPY! oh boy i pray that they dont get into toxic relationships or anything!! I've been a fan of kpop since 2010, since I was like 13. That kpop fantasy bubble shatter when I became an adult (when pretty much everything, as I started to realized how fcked up the world is). Everything that was said here is not really surprising to me but I'm still glad you made this video. I'm sorry you girls had to go through that and I'm happy you're no longer in that environment. Anyone else remembers that infamous "potato diet" female idols were doing? till this day I'm still shocked that was a thing. The standards and rules forced on these idols not only affect the idols but also the fans, and I would say more specifically young local fans as they start to believe these things are normal when they are not.
I found this video through Twitter, you now got a new sub here! I will now binge all your videos lolol
why is everyone so obssesed with idols dating like damn its their lives
ikr
this video proves that the kpop idol life isn’t all glitter and glam,, fans who expect the most about their idols and younger fans who dream of becoming an idol should really watch this. this is very informative.
OMG I CANT BELIEVE I WATCHED THIS VIDEO IN MARCH AND THE VIDEO CAME BACK ON MY SUGGESTED AND IT'S ACTUALLY COCO FROM TRANSIT LOVE ;0
well I’m happy for the idols, finally they’re dating and happy
the most polite idol that you know/seen
- Is the dating ban only for trainees?
- Since you know some idols date, does this mean they are somewhat open with it in the agency? Do the managers know? Can they do something about it? (Same question also applies to the situation below)
- Regarding idols dating within their group, how common is it to find LGBTQ+ idols? I know they’re not open to the public, but do managers and other members know?
I really wish you guys to start a company in future. I don't know why..but I felt so. Having a clear artistic viewpoint and better understanding of the system, I think you guys are perfect fit for that.
straight or not im just glad idols are getting some 💀 it’s about TIME
I was waiting for this😄 btw I love your new song "Lately" so much Coco😍💖
ily 🙈
@@Rilaccoco ı love you more💖💖💖
It's nice to hear our idol is dating they are human too I hope they will be happy.
Take your time, we know you both have different schedules and it might be hard to get together.
can we just appreciate how open Coco is? I love her!
I’m already loving this channel
we should be talking about the abuse of making idols starve more than them dating. it’s horrendous
i cant believe they would have trainees as hostages for 10 years and never make them debut, like i will literally k*ll myself
Until then keep it neutral.
i’m so happy that blackpink is eating well and living a healthy lifestyle, good for them and honestly i hope no one assume they have ED’s anymore bc a lot of people seem to assume that and make up lies.. 🙁
COCO SPILLED TEA, I FOUND THIS VIDEO A LONG TIME, I DIDNT RECOGNIZE HER
8:13 keep this in mind everytime an idol goes from a normal weight to very underweight and everyone just says they just "started eating healthier".

@@theirrelevantaverageteen9505 uau, that's actually pretty clever of them. If this is true, I hope they stay safe. btw, do u have the link?
On the contrary, I'm glad they're dating!! They deserve to love someone who understands them without having all of their private business aired out to public every time! 💕
I dont know why i love both of u talking each other 😍✨
i love this video but i also love how your english is better than some native speakers. your voices are SO pretty
