I’d much rather have rear a/c vents than rear heated seats.
it would cost the mfgr like $20 more to include both but nooooo we can't have nice things 😅
Depends where you live and the ambient climate. I’d prefer the heated seats.
Agree. Heated seats are one of the most useless options regularly offered on cars. Ventilated seats would be much more useful.
@@jeremysomeone Our Canuckistan neighbors to the north definitely prefer the heated options :toastybuns:
But our necks are red in the south for a reason. It gets hot and sweaty 'round these parts!
Get a Forte GT before they're all gone: last sedan in the class with stick + rear vents + "leather" seats.
Unlike the Toyota “All New Camry”, at least VW is being honest that’s Jetta is revised/updated!
@@mfbikle This 2025 is nothing but a warmed over 2018-2024 Camry
Dude. What!
@@Pamlicojdjdj1487 only thing warmed over is the frame. The TNGA platform they are using is the same one from the 2018-2024 Camry but improved. So with that and everything else that is new, it is considered a new generation even how we see the same bones.
@@terrencebenjamin7241 but also some parts like the doors are the same size
@@tmler the doors are different in design.
I owned two Jettas. They helped me become close friends with my VW dealer’s service manager.
One of the worst rental car I ever had. The transmission was constantly slipping, the entertainment was difficult to use, the whole car felt like crap.
Me too 😅
Typical vw, crap
I own a Jetta diesel and have had no mechanical issues. Even if I do though I'm not going to a dealership. I'll fix it myself.
I’ve owned three….2010 Jetta was solid…2016 Passat had constant issues with steering wheel clicking, dash parts falling off, AC blend door broke @ 24k miles….2020 Jetta, engine failure @ 90k miles. Really wanted to love this value German brand but never ever again will I trust VW. 90’s and early 2000s were quality
It looks way better than the previous model.
I own a 2024 Jetta Sport. It is a nice simple car. Doesn’t have many extras but I don’t mind. The ride is good. Fuel economy is amazing. I use it as a work commuter and it serves its job well. I do wish it had rear vents for its hvac as well as usb c in the rear. That is really my only negative. A solid car for the money you spend.
How many miles
Prior design was awkward. Back on track now. Much better!
There's no reason why they'd have heated seats, and no rear A/C vents, or USB plugs. That's silly. I had a 2005.5 New Jetta, and it had rear vents, shame on VW to not provide vents. Ridiculous. It's in your parts bin, it isn't new development needed. Good video Tommy.
@@gqami Manufacturers have been cheaping out by removing rear-seat vents for a few years now, which totally sucks. There's NO car left in the Jetta's class with rear vents in the US other than the Kia Forte GT.
It’s kinda funny, since they had the option in the past. The Mk6 (though it technically has floor vents for the rear) had rear vents in Europe, but not in the US - as with 80% of the other features of the Mk6 (they were trying to keep the price of the US one down).
@@initialyeet3951 Just like the Elantra N has them for overseas markets but not for the US.
@@initialyeet3951 the argument of “keeping price down” because of air vents is preposterous. The tooling and manufacturing is already done.
Looks so much better than last gen
Damn!! I love the new look. It blows the last generation away!!
Who keeps telling cars manufacturers that people want piano black interior it gets scratched and dusty on day 1
The same people who don’t give two shitz what you think…
They just do it because it’s cheaper.
Looks cheap on day 0 as well.
@@chaosseat ok
@@TrebleTS20 Just clean it with those Swifter cloths and NOTHING else.
When I first saw that they redesigned it I thought they would absolutely ruin the Jetta for me by "modernizing" the interior and removing climate control and all of the knobs and buttons similar to the ID.4 and Atlas. I'm so grateful that VW continues to know how to make a car for the people after getting feedback from those cars
I’ve owned a 2014 Jetta S, and a 2017 Jetta SE….. I wouldn’t mind having the new one but only the GLI now because I much prefer a manual transmission.
It is intriguing to observe the contrasting perspectives of automotive journalists regarding haptic feedback and screen-integrated features. While they express concerns about these elements in general, they consistently praise Tesla's technology, which heavily relies on touchscreen interfaces. This trend has persisted for approximately a decade, and there appears to be a lack of criticism directed toward Elon Musk in this regard.
Tesla bias. They infamously have the worst build quality in the industry, but that's rarely talked about.
@@palebeachbum You call it bias. I say it's hypocritical.
Yes it's hypocritical. They praise other cars for having all physical controls and yet when the brand new 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage has all physical controls, they still mock the Mirage. Not fair!
@sachinnair91 Mirage is a tiny car with slow horsepower. It has no personality whatsoever. I don't know why Mitsubishi entertain that car. It's a joke!
@sachinnair91 the mirage has a mountain of other shortcomings that far outweigh the benefits of physical controls
I'd rather have rear climate vents and and charge ports than the heated rear seats.
up in canada winter is long.
I had 2 mk5 jettas, and loved them. This one looks great.
With the manual GTI gone, I wish the GLI got a power bump to match the GTI
We need the wagon
They make a wagon version for the chinese market, guess there's not enough market elsewhere to justify building outside of china
I have an Alltrack, its a sportwagen variant. There's nothing else left on the market currently like it.
@@dom_veloce yup, 3 of my friends have them.
The refresh is very attractive. I really disliked the previous design. I still don't trust VW reliability though.
As a VW owner you have a good reason not to trust a VW
Mine have been flawless. Just don’t skip servicing when comes due.
@@Pamlicojdjdj1487 how old is it. What is the mileage?
@@Pamlicojdjdj1487 No amount of servicing is going to fix the plastic coolant lines, oil pan, and water pump.
@@TrevorWebb-ck2yv Yes that was my experience with BMW
I would for sure buy it over a civic or corolla, not stinking cvt, better driver assist, chassis, and better looking. I am shocked they don't have rear ac vents but isn't abnormal for this class.
Better seats too
2025 civic has no cvt
@@AlBunky yes it does unfortunately, the hybrid has the direct drive which is similar acting.
@@AlBunky oh yes it does. This has an 8 speed auto. I will take the Jetta
The VW 1.5t TSI is actually an alright engine, loads of em in europe with high mileage fyi - VW’s aren’t that hard to maintain nor impossible like ppl like to claim, my VW diesel has been amazing to me !!! Better than Honda’s gas 1.5t in my opinion and cheaper (the Honda has head gasket issues potentially and oil dilution, happened to my neighbor and his 1.5t civic which had a hole in the block)
The VW 1.5t is having issues with the fuel injection system. Lots of complaints about it among Taos owners.
I have had a 2003 Jetta TDI wagon since new. It has 410k miles on it now, with nothing more than regular maintenance. It is a 5-speed stick.
Just drove a 2014 Jetta SE from Miami to New York this past weekend. Drives like a charm - 1.8T engine with 174 HP and 184 lb torque. Nearly 40 mpg for the journey. Paid 17.5 when new
Keep the car !!
I still love my 2019 Jetta with the 6-speed manual, which has been mechanically flawless so far, but at least this one does not have the deal-breaker touch buttons on the steering wheel - if any part of your hand touches any part of any button, ever, something changes. My old one has the real buttons. I drove an Atlas loaner with the touch buttons and I won't buy a VW that has them.
Why no rear ac vents? Anyone family of four looking at a car would want that. At least offer it in the SEL trim. My wife’s prior gen 2006 Jetta had rear ac vents.
We all drove cars with no separate AC vents in the backseat for years. I don’t really think it makes that big of a deal in a small car.
@@brassinpocket6257Yeah - at the risk of sounding ancient, my brother and I survived in the back of our family’s 86 Jetta, dad just aimed the center dash vents straight back. Although the constant decontenting does stink.
This car is pretty tight for a family of 4 anyways as it's technically still a compact. The Passat had rear vents and USB but... RIP.
Bought a 2021 Tiguan New 3.5 years ago and never had any issues with it ...
I’m really considering a Jetta. But now I’m forced to buy the GLI because a Manual Transmission is a MUST!
Nice Skoda Octavia
They don't get Skodas in the US.
It does look very similar.
octavia is based on vw golf chasis, jetta isn't
@@theracer6882This gen Jetta is MQB, same as the Golf
The new front and rear end are a huge improvement. This is the true evolution of the mk6 styling but way more aggressive. The original mk7 looked bland and thick imo. Shame there's no manual in the base car but makes sense sadly. Those piano black touch controls are better than in other cars but i'd take the knobs and buttons of the older car any day.
Good looking refresh ❤❤❤❤
Fantastic front end! Rear still looks like a sagging diaper. Tight interior, just looking for a slightttttly larger media screen. Otherwise, this is looking more like the sexy and mature Jetta I used to pine for back in college.
The Mexican market version has a much bigger screen but looses the knobs
I'd rather have a bigger screen. The thick bezel makes the center stack look so cheap.
All LA.
Y no hay estándar, lo cual es una mamada que en usa si lo vendan estándar y aquí no
I wish they would include parking sensors on the jetta.
This town is Full of Jettas. The main color for Jettas around here..Black. All black..See more of these than any other sedan on the road
What town is that?
Still driving my 2012 VWJetta with 6 speed MT
I like it. Also Tommy's voice seems to have changed. When he said this is Tommy, I was like are you sure.
I work with VW's every day, and the haptic climate controls are my least favorite. The haptic steering wheel ones (and even touch sliders under the screen on ID.4/Atlas) I'd rather have. The haptic climate in the Tiguan and now Jetta have a tendency of going from whatever your temp was, to "HI" or "LO" as soon as you slide your finger, instead of quickly scrolling through temps.
It's amazing how many people I show a new VW to who have watched umpteen reviews about "how awful the haptics are", and then think the reviews are overblown. Don't get me wrong, I prefer buttons too, but turning up and down the radio volume with a quick swipe is nicer than 10 button presses.
I had a 2019 GLi back then, & it was ight. It had a good mix of premium features, but quality kinda lacked in a lottt of areas, & some features were completely missing. Felt very different than the Mk7.5 GTi I had. I now daily a brand new 24 A4 Allroad Prestige & I absoulutelyyy love that thing. Obv way more quality than the Jetta & Golf, but man it's awesome. For 2024 & doing a second refresh, VW def should have added some rear AC vents, & it looks like they took away that capacitive door locks/ behind the handle unlock which is kinda weird. My Audi has that & I always thought that was a pretty up market feature for a Jetta/ GLi. I wonder if they took away the one touch for all four windows too. It's kinda goofy that VW tries to say these have a panoramic sunroof tho. From the outside they look bigger, but still not a full pano & on the inside it's barely larger than a standard moon roof lol
Excellent video, Tommy. But when you say the price is the same and then point out how it is more expensive. That is what irritates the people and sends out the negative comments.
Option for option the 2025 comes in $300 less.
Where did he say the price is gone up? Not to mention he’s showing the top line model that no one buys.
Even a budget Audi needs vents for the rear seat.
Betta getta a Jetta
FINALLY they got the damn nose right (now if only they'd redone the hood to go all the way to the grille rather than have that little body-color panel).
I miss Nathan’s VW reviews. You did great, Tommy. It’s just that Nathan, and his VW reviews, is prominently the reason I watch TFL.
People don’t want haptic. Bring back the buttons. You guys haven’t learned your lesson from the atlas refresh.
Happy they ditched ugly-ass mk7 desing and make it more like elegant mk6 for this facelift, looks amazing!
I think the updates look good. The only thing that disappoints me is, they don’t pad the rear doors like they do the front. However, I’ve owned several Jetta’s, 1994, 98, 00, 02, 09 and thinking of doing it again in 25. They were all good cars that I liked driving. Anxious to see the changes on the lower trims. Yes, that color with those wheels look great.
Nice upgrades to the Jetta. But that small screen looks dated and small for the segment. The new K4 has my attention as a better buy for myself.
I'm looking forward to the release of that new K4, especially the hatchback. I bet it's going to cost more than this Jetta though. Kia is less and less a value brand with every redesign.
@@palebeachbum The 2025 Kia K4 has a starting MSRP of $21,990 for the LX trim and goes up to $28,090 for the GT-Line Turbo trim. It's still a very competitive buy.
unfortunately insurance for the K4 will be high due to the Kia Boyz and car insurance companies remembering that. You're.better off buying a brand new 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage ES, raheem, that better suits your budget anyway
@sachinnair91 You just insulted me when you said Mitsubishi Mirage, and that it will fit my budget. You don't know what's my budget is. And if I want the K4, then I will get it. Kia Boyz will not be able to steal a 2025 Kia with all the technology it has. Moving along!
Yay a car!!! You review way too many trucks on this channel fyi. 😊
I can't believe they updated the entire front and taillights, but LEFT that god-awful rear bumper/fake exhaust strip we've had since 2022. I've been patiently waiting for them to change it and they didn't 😭
Those wheels look great, better even than the ones they put on the GLI, overall looks were improved a lot specially considering its just a facelift update and not a whole new model.
While I like the new exterior more, the removal of the integration of the centre infotainment screen into the design without any upgrade in its size is an overall downgrade. The new AC is also far more irritating to control. Bring back the three knob system.
For me IMHO this is a perfect sign an drive vehicle with the correct price point of course.
I like the refreshed design. Especially the front end. Now, one thing i dont like is the fact that the GLi will use the same reflector type LED headlights as the base Jetta. My 2024 GLi have LED projector units and they are super good at night. That was a cheap move in my opinion. No rear seat air vents, yeah, come on VW. Still using the Beats sound, shitty when you compare it to the old Fender sound system. I wish they couldve added fog lights like the GTi, but oh well. Coming from a 17 GLi, 20 Jetta S automatic and now my 24 GLi, this newer version will do good.
The 1.5 is a good engine, never tried it hooked up to a conventional auto though, I'm guessing it's an Aisin. It's always paired with a manual or 7-speed DSG in Europe
All of those features except the front ventilated seats are available in the 2019 Jetta SEL. Don’t waste your money.
Tommy has an Omega speedmaster? Nice.
Looks good! When are they expected at dealerships?
Have they finally added factory navigation to the full loaded Autobahn GLI? Ridiculous that they cut Nav from their top of the line Trim…”Nav” button is replaced with “App”. Nav only available in Canada
Make 4-Motion an option and standard on the GLI.
Looks more elegant than the outgoing model.
I dont know about the budget part. Before buying my current car I looked at the s3 and the jettas had more features. I actually was disappointed in the audi.
love the new jetta sel, i say still needs parking sensors, VW puddle lamps and also interior ambient lighting. i always buy new, i'll be turning off all safety features except traction control on day 1
where are parking sensors?
Looks nice
It reminds me of a 6 year old camry in styling.
Although the exterior front end looks like the Elantra 2 generations back, I’m glad VW is improving the fit and finish back to German standards, or should I say “almost.” The Elantra is more stylish, but the new Jetta is bringing back what we love most about VW. It definitely looks better than the Civic inside and out. Honda has cheaped out its entire vehicle lineup, just like VW did when they initially wanted to mass produce them in the US and Mexico. It’s not a good time to buy any Honda right now (Coming from a Honda owner). Instead of a rear seat heater, it could definitely use rear AC vents. I hope they put a bigger screen on more premium models.
The Camry hybrid fwd owns the sedan segment right now
You literally can get 50 mpg for the same price
I applaud that VW is still making the Jetta. It's got a very premium style and look to it over the Corolla and Civic. I'd never buy one though considering the repair cost going into a VW. Lastly, the wheels on it looks exactly like the Subaru Legacy and Outback wheels from 2020-2022.
Definitely it's an improvement over previous model drab styling. However they need to offer a hybrid model in the same price range as the Honda Civic Hybrid Sport Touring with at lest 200 hp and 50 mpg to match the 2025 Civic Hybrid Sport, and Sport Touring Hybrid models. If VW offers a hybrid Jetta I would definitely be interested, but for now, I much prefer the 2025 Civic Hybrid Sport Touring with more power, superior fuel economy, and top notch reliability. That's something the Jetta needs to work on reliability, better fuel efficiency, and more power. Otherwise Jetta is now a good looking classier car than its previous boring design.
The only thing I really dislike is how they kept the infoltainment the same. Interma of design, the huge bezels and unnatural placing of it kills the mood
22 grand that's awesome I know it's not the one in the video
Honda Civic is the gold standard for compact interiors.
A Jetta Hatch back would be nice
It’s called the GTI😂
Need Mild Hybrid or TDI engine and SportWagen option
Looks more like a kit then a actual change
25 years and they still use the same door chime
Keeping torsion beam rear should be illegal for 2025 model. This is not 1995 anymore. Is Beats audio any better now? Beats audio was literally the ONLY reason I did not buy 2022 Jetta GLI Autobahn. Beats sounded like it was designed by deaf people. But outside of the audio system, GLI is actually a great daily commuter
Is it going to leak and flood?
This looks better than the “New” 2025 Camry😂
I've owned a few VW's (GTI, Tiquan and GLI) nice cars, but have electrical problems all the time.
🥱
So Honda and VW just casually hardcore switching looks 😂
Price is right
2024 model looks better
150 hp and an automatic, that’s going to be painful. There should be a manual option.
Wtf🤣🤣🤣 that's literally a VW Virtus (Indian model) for past couple of years and they planned releasing it at a global level with huge cost cutting
This is actually skoda
I want to buy the 2024 gli and my son's biggest problem is there's no vents or a twelve volts outlet or anything in the back
I’ve owned seven VW’s and the only problem I had was a chaffed wiring harness from door to dash.
Booyah 👊🏽 😁 👍🏽 🇺🇲
Very Audi at the rear.
So really the only thing they did was get rid of the climate knobs and make the screen look stuck on. They should’ve just left it alone.
Honestly the features are great for the price it’s at but at the end of the day it’s a VW and they aren’t reliable and aren’t cheap to maintain
Why would you spend 30k on this vs a 30k camery with over 50mpg
Great question. This was the worst rental car I ever had. I was coming out of a Nissan Altima from the first leg of my Hawaiian trip, and I saw this on the rental lot, and I was so excited! It turned out to be a horrible choice, the car just felt like crap in comparison to theAltima. The transmission was slipping, the infotainment and HVAC were difficult to use, it did not ride well or drive well. Much preferred the Nissan Altima or Toyota Camry instead.
Some people will not settle for a base model Camry while they can get something that has all the bells and whistle for the same price. Some value performance and features over MPGs, and it's nothing wrong with that.
Fully loaded Camry is like $44k ! Base Jetta is probably mid 20’s, top spec in the lower 30’s ! Different class of vehicle. Sure a base Camry is a good value but the top spec Camry is 15k more than this Jetta or 50% more expensive
Oh I don't know...because people have different tastes and/or needs. What does it matter?
Opinions and preferences
No standard transmission on the sport or other models. That stinks. Can’t afford a GLI.
No stick on the base … daang 9:42
I have a 2024 and its been the worse pos its been towed 5 times in under 10k miles tail lights replaced head gasket replace brakes sliping and grinding "vw wont do anything about" and endless Electrical problems from the car not unlocking not opning the trunk not starting but "vw refuses to fix" im now having to get a lawyer involved. I would tell anyone to RUN from a vw
No rear AC vents for a $30k compact car is purely a cost cutting decision. VW went cheap on this.
The first MK7 to look good (the R-Line being the exception that proves the rule) and they kill the manual. Typical. (Yeah, yeah, at least there's the GLI.)
I can't believe people don't realize that jettas are just basically old model of redesigned audis!!!
Jetta is VW MQB platform, it has nothing to do with Audi. The only Audi sold in North America sharing the platform are the A3/S3/RS3 and Q3. So those cars are redesigned VW's.

Interior looks like Camry 2025
Why does this look like a Cadillac CT5
