Hi! I’m new to this channel. Just discovered it today. I just wanted to say that i listened so much to this band in the early and mid eighties, that i one day couldn’t stand them anymore. Well, after twenty some odd years i returned and found that i loved the music more than ever. Great band. They don’t make ‘em like this anylonger. My favorite has always been «Morrison Hotel», but for the moment i’m not sure which is my number one in their discography.
They're one of my favorite bands right now, I really like Strange Days, Morrison Hotel, and LA Woman. I've got most of the re-issues because I only had Waiting for the Sun and the Greatest Hits and they're really nice with the bonus tracks and lyrics. The Strange Days album cover is great, the guy with the trumpet in the background was a local taxi driver.
I have to say, all of their Morrison-era albums are all pretty equal to me. I've loved every one of them as well as any other. Don't know much about Other Voices or In Full Circle, but I have them in my collection and will give them a spin thanks to you. Great review. Thanks.
I can listen to each album straight through and not want to skip any songs, so I really enjoy each album. If I had to choose a favorite it'd come down to the debut album and L.A. Woman.
Their debut is my favorite (of course) along with Strange Days. My favorite songs are The End, When the Musics Over, Crystal Ship, Light My Fire, Break On Through, Blue Sunday, L.A. Woman, Waiting for the Sun, and Touch Me.
My favourite group of the 60s. I've been a fan since I was about 13 but that was about 10 years after Jim's death; growing up in the 80s it was like they were a new group such was their popularity... in Australia anyway. I like all their albums but like most Soft Parade is my least favourite but that's cliched so it's good to see some love for it: some weak songs like Tell All the People and Wishful Sinful but some greats like Shamans Blues. Including a favourite track and score out of 10, my album ranking would be: 1. Morrison Hotel 10 - Maggie M'Gill 2. LA Woman 10 - Hyacinth House 3. The Doors 10 - Soul Kitchen 4. Waiting for the Sun 8 - Five to One 5. Strange Days 8 - Love Me Two Times 6. Soft Parade 6 - Shaman's Blues I don't mind the two albums without Jim but it wouldn't be fair to compare them. I also like their 3 live albums that I had plus An American Prayer.
I have the 50th anniversary edition of their debut and Strange Days. The Mono version of Strange Days is awesome. Have to say it is my favorite of theirs. You're lost little girl, exellent song!
They are not only REMASTERS. They are NEW MIXES of the original albums, they sound different. Some of them are good but other like "Morrison Hotel" I don't like the mix of "Roadhouse Blues"
Do U have the CD of the Doors live album, Absolutely Live? I was released in 1970 before Morrison Hotel. They also had a greatest hits album, 13, that came out after MH. Don't think that was ever on CD.
@@canadianstudmuffin I forgot those were on there. I have that as well. I picked up and also downloaded some of the live stuff they released through their BMR label.
I only have the first album, but may decide to get others. I do have a 45 of "Love Her Madly", the b-side is a non-album song sung by Ray - "You Need Meat (Don't Look No Further)".
The debut is their best. The second is their second best. Waiting For The Sun is their album that's in the middle. Not the worst, not the best. The Soft Parade is their weakest album. (I have no idea why it's Peter Kent's favorite) Morrison Hotel Is a great bluesy rock album. One of their better albums. L.A. Woman is their most overrated album because of the title track and Riders Of The Storm and is NOT better then the first two, but still one of their strongest.

The doors have always been a band that I’ve wanted to get into more, but never had. Great collection.
I really wish the guys would’ve put “Who Scared You?” on Soft Parade, in place of “Do It.”
