- For one last 'hurrah' on the 2023/24 ski season i set myself the challenge of trying to ski up and down Mt Blanc in a single push, again! Last season i tried the Grands Mulets route, but was defeated by dehydration around 400m below the top. This time i opted for the Trois Monts route. Much less vertical (although just as long) but more technical, with several sections of boot packing up steep snow/ice required. Tune in to see how it went!

On the way up yes, the descent was pretty horrible below the grand plateau, sun crust followed by deeply rutted slush
Great vid. My annual ‘test the age’ trip. First Bin up, aim for last Bin down 🤙🏻. The Maudit face is either step over the ‘schrund or climb (thrutch) the upper side wall and over the lip normally followed by a party behind observing and asking for a rope.
our goal was to go lift to lift, but we didnt quite make it. i ground to a halt on the final 300m or so due to dehydration, but we were going well up to that point.
@@chamonixskibum I’ve missed it by 20-40mins many a time. Can be the difference of half a pack of gummy bears or getting down the arete past
others quick enough that seals your fate.

Fantastic video - as a bit of an armchair adventurer, one of the best MB ascent trip reports I have seen. When one does the Trois Monts route, the typical return on ski is back to the mid-station via the Grand Mulets? What a great way to close the season - looking forward to whatever summer adventures lie ahead.
You could ski back the way you came, but then you have to ski uphill again in a couple of places. Typically people go via the grands mulets hut, but you have a choice of ways to get there, here we descended the classic north face line

Great!! Did you take the first gondola up? When did you arrive at the summit? Do you think it's still possible to start with the first gondola instead of sleeping in cosmiques, or does it get too late? :)
we did it in a single push. we didnt quite get first lift, but i think we were on the 8.40 bin. we got stuck by some really incompetent people on the arete which slowed us down, but i think we were skiing by about 9.30. the goal was to make it down to the mid station by last lift, which is very possible, but we missed it by well over an hour in the end so didnt bother trying to get across.
Enjoyed watching that. Looked like hard work but worth it.

i live in (or near) chamonix year round. i have just gone back to the uk for a few weeks but i will be in chamonix again for the summer season and next winter for sure
