For people who may be watching this an worry about “joycon drift”, an issue where the joysticks’ central position can shift and affect the reliability of the console; since you cannot simply replace the affected stick by changing tithe the left or right joycon on a regular Switch. I own four Switch consoles. My original 2016 release, a Switch OLED, a Switch Lite and a limited edition Zelda Switch OLED (I know, but that TOTK theme was too pretty). I also have several other sets of joycons I’ve bought. After over at least thousand hours of gaming across all of these devices I have never once encountered drift with my sticks. I may have simply been lucky or perhaps it’s because I treat my hardware with respect? Either way, try not to make it concern you too much. Like with many things nowadays, I feel it’s blown out of proportion online because some people just want to hate on the system. The Lite is a superb little handheld and very comfortable to play on. If I’m going away it’s definitely my system of choice. Even at home, it’s slightly smaller and lighter form factor make it more comfortable to play for me than a full size Switch. At £200 it’s a steal, especially the new Animal Crossing bundle as you essentially get a free game which is super fun and adorable in equal measure.
I second this! I worried about this a lot before getting my Switch lite, but 2 years later and I have no issues with it. Even IF it were to occur, they do offer free repair of joy con drifts (even if your warranty has expired). The only downside is that you can't play while your device is shipped off on repair, but a few days off the Switch is not the end of the world.
I got my switch four years ago now and of my 3 joycons that I’ve had, only one of them have gotten drift, and even then it was after over 3 years of playtime. It is not as big of an issue as it seems (especially since I was able to just send it in to Nintendo for FREE and get it fixed within the week).
I’ve had my coral version for about 2 years now and I love it. I recently modded it with the help of a friend. I also just recently bought the yellow and the Mario Oled.
This and the xbox series S are the best cheap options for gaming out there. Still new gen and with similar features at a lower price that’s more comfortable for many! I’ll be getting my hands on both as soon as I can
@@user-yf4gf2zs8z you have to choose based on what you want. You wanna play on tv, take the regular. You're 70/30 handled, pick the Oled. You want to play only in handled, pick the light.
I got the lite back in January. It was loads of fun in the beginning but after awhile I realised the screen is just too small. Now I'm thinking about upgrading to OLED, however there's a slim chance that Nintendo next year finally decides to make an official announcement about the switch 2 so I'm really trying my best not to get an OLED lol
I say wait a little while longer. If a new console will be released than you'll have to see if it's backwards compatible. If not and you want to experience the huge library of games than get the OLED cuz the prices will probably drop. If Nintendo will not announce anything in the near future then get the OLED :)

something nobody mentions - you basically have to be in the dark to use it. ANY light behind/above you results in a gaming session on a mirror, it's borderline unusable during the day. BUT, in the right lighting conditions, it's totally fun. Worth the money if you're indoors all day, for everyone else probably not
idk man, i play my switch lite outside in the morning and bright lights everywhere, i still can see the screen just fine, just need to up the screen brightness a little bit but that's it
I was not going to buy a switch I was happy with my 3ds but last week I fell asleep with a popsicle next to me and it melted right on top of my 3ds and messed it up bad. I was going to buy a used 3ds but then realized they are more expensive than a brand new switch! I just ordered a switch lite with the mega man battle network collection. I'm super excited and now I'm looking forward to paper mario TTYD coming out in 2 months. Plus playing mario odyssey and kirby and the forgotten land. I should have pulled the trigger sooner. I didn't realize how inexpensive the switch lite was!

Just bought the NS lite 2023 animal crossing edition but in teal colorway with free physical game included. In my opinion if someone is just buying any nintendo switch in 2023, choose the model that recently released like these animal crossing switch lite version and the oled mario edition, for the reason that you'll have a peace of mind knowing that the hardware inside your console are built in the 2nd/3rd quarter of 2023. Everything isn't stale in short, like the battery is not sitting for years inside the console like the early colorways of the switch lites, that way I think you're giving yourself a real bang for the buck 👌 My switch lite is consistently giving me a little over 3hours of gameplay in DB figherz, Resident Evil Revelation, Diablo 3 while being connected to wifi, 8bitdo lite 2 controller, Bluetooth speakers or earbuds (depends on my gaming mood).
For anyone wondering the answer is yes they're all the same play the same and function the same the only difference in oled is display and sound in handheld the only difference in lite from original is no docked they all run the games the same across, oled and original are same docked
1:38 It can, kinda. If you install a mod chip and use sys DVR you can mirror your display to your laptop over USB with pretty serviceable image quality . Switch modding isn't just for piracy, I'm actually commenting this from my switch rn. Soldering a mod chip to a lite is actually fairly easy for someone who has experience soldering. A rp2040 tiny is 3 bucks and getting it installed at your local repair shop will probably go for 20 to 60 bucks if their cool with it. Modchips are definitely a must have after warranty ends (even v1's should all get chips imo cause 2040cores are 10 bucks. Just sayin
I found one for kinda cheap (around $140) yesterday and it came with 4 $60 games (not physical tho). And i ordered it! I hope it will be fun for atleast a year. I have a ps4 and semi gaming laptop on the side anyway so this is just for when i travel!
Just got one lol. Had the switch since 2019 and the joycon connection on the device itself has become inconsistent. Some days it's not an issue some days I have to reconnect all day no matter which joycons I use. Have a list of gaming things I still want haha but I knew I'd want a lite before the 2nd switch or whatever drops. I imagine in the future the lite will be my retro console lol.

Hello , i just bought switch lite 2023 dark blue. And this is my first time own a switch. I just feels that the joystick is too soft and if i touch the joystick it jiggled. Is it normal or i got the bad switch? It feels different compare to xbox controller i can use the joystick without worrying, but when i use the switch joystick it just feel that it won't last long because it's too soft and jiggle , but it's responsive. So i feel weird about this joystick.please anyone answer me, sorry for my bad english, thank you
In the end, NES is just fun! For more intense gaming the higher up hand helds consoles.. PS and Xbox have the market.. have to keep in mind for more graphics and game play its consoles and a monitor. I started with original Atari and grew up to the PS5.. I don’t regret my Switch Lite by any means it’s good old FUN!
I've had it for a few weeks now. Regarding the display issue, I believe that like any electronic device, it requires proper care and attention. I would recommend using a good protective case to preserve its lifespan and cushion any impacts. Additionally, if you purchased it new, it is covered by warranty for any malfunctions
I’ve had mine for 2 years don’t use it a whole bunch but I do have around 400-500 hours total playtime, so far I’ve encountered no issues with screen,battery or stick drift🤷♂️
Switch Lite makes it redundant to buy the actual Nintendo Switch. As someone who games primarily on PC, owning a Nintendo console would be a waste of money. Plus, handhelds have always been the only good thing about Nintendo and it's nice to keep the nostalgia factor as someone who grew up with the Gameboy/Gameboy Advance/Nintendo DSi/2DS.

It’s the exact same consoles in terms of hardware and specs so they do share the same game library as well as run those games the same👍 but you can’t dock it to a tv/monitor that’s where the lite falls short
Got the Isabel version, the battery is f trash tbh, 3-4 hours and its already dying and thats with mid to dim lighting as I play during the end of my day to unwind. Still its a good budget friendly to play the Nintendo exclusive without missing out

There is hardly any footage of drift on the Switch Lite. I think if you take good care of it, you won't need to worry.

I'd say still get it. It's awesome. Nintendo Consoles have great 2nd-hand value so you'd be able to get a great buck if deciding to sell it.

Oled is bigger screen but same resolution. Meaning less sharp of an image

I still use my yellow Lite all of the time. It barely weighs anything, so it's perfect to bring on road trips and plane rides.

I think the console's sound level is lower than that of phones, and this level always changes depending on some games.
