I did exactly what you said of looking till i found what i wanted in the year that i wanted. Only thing different was i wanted a handyman and the wife got involved and I was aloud to spend more on a sedan. Really enjoy your videos and the sensible advice.
Robert, want to say thanks for this video. I have a 57 that a body shop disassembled for me and then went out of business. I’m now going to try the resto /rebuild myself, so this video has been a great inspiration. Thanks again.
That alot of great info. Most people dont understand how many different bolts a old car has. Plus the little clips and brackets and so on. Best to take your time and stay organized. Your probably the most important thing when taking on a project is knowing what your goals and project are. Thanks for the video it eas was a good. Later man 👍
@@haffrods7055 What would he know. Lol Being organized is one of the biggest parts of rebuilding a old car. Especially if your not familiar with that particular car. Have a good one Buddy 👍
Not my first resto but different first time owning a 55 your channel has been important when I bought the 55 they had acid dip epoxy primed pro tour start boxes of parts watching your channel tells me what I got 😀 merry Christmas to you and your family thanks
Excellent video! I will definitely take your advice! I have a 55 nomad I am gonna be starting on. Definitely on a budget and need to do almost everything on my own. The car has been in my family for 40 years, so I’m gonna give it a go and see what happens. Thanks for the info and I’ll be checking out more of your videos!
Great informative video I just want to add to all that have watched this video don't scrimp on good parts remember you're life depends on the safety of those parts. But you can spend a lot or a little and have good parts but safety is paramount. I will add just like mentioned here start buying parts a little bit at a time and it won't be so overwhelming and enjoy your build and take your time 😉 great video by the way.
It’s interesting to think about how many four doors were made vs any other style of tri five. Yet how many do you see on the road or at a car show? IMO, a nice running, driving, 4 door is probably MORE rare than a nomad. I was able to pick up my 4 door shell for $2500. If it had been a two door, it would’ve probably had been $6k, as it sat. I set out actually wanting a four door not for the price, but for the functionality. My other two cars have two doors. I wouldn’t want to get rid of them, but a nice family sedan like a 57 has some style.
I got my 55 wagon at the start of the year and your channel has been an invaluable source of information for me as I get my first tri5 back on the road. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. Merry Christmas
seems to me in and out adjustments are backard. if i loosen just the top bo;ts and two philips what does that adjust top bottom in out? meck 60 years but 79 now hardley any paint remainging on door jams. what a pain. any help appericated. seen every video so far thanks Ed
This is a great idea, getting the sources of information all in one spot. Thanks for that. I want to put 57 bel air tailfin chrome pieces on my 210 2dr post. Where will I find out placement of those weird holes I need. I could wing it but it's way too nice to screw up doing this. Hope your holidays are happy times and thanks.
@@haffrods7055 By pure fools luck I found a video from some guy in the middle east who was doing exactly what I wanted to see. I don't understand Farsi but one picture(video) is worth a 1000 words. Now it's a matter of making a templet and drilling strange little slotted holes. The guy had a beautiful 57 ragtop that's a long way from home.
I need 4 bolts to complete a set for my front seat. I noticed track bolts are the same but longer. I’m picky like you. Any extras please let me know, I want the originals not store hardware. Thanks. Very good points on restoring.
Are you the guy from Claremore? If you are my husband watches you all the time. He’s building me a 55 Chevy wagon, I’m trying to subscribe to your channel, he has a lot of questions for you

Man o man, is this great advice, especially the part of making and keeping it a driver before tearing it apart and labeling EVERYTHING!

Good video....thank you for taking the time to post. Working on a 57 at the moment. You learn right away that the price of parts adds up fast.
Thanks for watching DH
Great advice and tips Rob. 4 doors for some reason get a bad rap, but I love my 4 door 57. Merry Christmas
My uncle always said "you never see the other two doors behind you when you're in the drivers seat" I dig four doors for the practicality.

Steve, I'd Google it or go to Trifive.com and search it or ask. That has to have been asked before

Hey Robert, I just placed an order for a catalog from H & H !! Tks, Ed/A
Good deal Ed. It's a nice catalog. They are the cheapest I've found on a door sill plate set for a 4 door sedan
Bob, can you sit down for a bit, I'm getting dizzy following you around your shop-Lol... Tks, Ed/A
You should see me when I talk on the phone. I pace all over. Lol
Put a chair in the garage and sit
