      Number 1 don't call it paganism it's a derogatory term Christians used to denigrate polytheism it means lesser gods .

    A little much on the emphasis on “it isn’t racist, fascist, pro-White in any form” and et cetera, yet a good brief description.

      I don't think so, clearly they are giving the community a bad name and he's making it clear to us that he doesn't subscribe to those.

      @@LonelyParadiseKiss - I with sincere respect disagree. Such emphasis is political in its nature, therefor, threatens by its nature to divide men amongst political lines. If the goal were at heart to educate the ignorant on this ancient faith, politics be damned; there be no pressure upon him that I am aware of, providing exigency to highlight the demographic.
      Rather, it demonstrates a political message and vividly illustrates to the spectator where the author falls on the spectrum of whom he is fervently against. It alienates many whom could be faithful listeners; whilst the intention be good at heart-no doubt by your words here you are in agreement with the channel-it muddies the waters by inserting ideological politics. Apolitical neutrality ought to be the norm is the message I think worth religious channels to adapt.

    I respectfully disagree with your take on “make your own traditions” because if you made it it’s not a tradition. And to partake in a outsiders traditions is the highest form of respect to their faith. I personally practice traditions to religions I don’t even believe in simply to feel a connection to the ancient people who practiced those traditions. I don’t care what religion you come from, if you go back far enough your ancestors believed something completely different than you. Also genes have nothing to do with religion. Even if they did genetic testing doesn’t tell you where your ancestors come from genetic testing tells you where are all the people that you share the most genetic relation to (right now)

    love this Channel! Keep Going Please! But I wanted to point out two fair criticisms
    1.The Britons and the Gauls Did Share some Deities, Taranis and Sucellos were both known to be worshipped in Britain, And one cannot forget about Linguistic Cognates.The Irish Lugh, Welsh Llew, and Gaulish Lugus are all etymologically connected and sharing the same Root,another one would be Gobannus,Gofannon and Goibnu, in Gaul,Wales, and Ireland Respectively. There are many, many more I could mention but I think you get the Idea.
    2.The La Tene Culture made its way into Britian as well.

    Good idea, though aren't the modern French not gallic and more so Latin (and some Germanic)?

    • @gaulcast2176
      @gaulcast2176  2 роки тому +2

      French has Gallic roots. I forget which podcast episode has it but we talked about how Latin was mixed and became vulgar Latin which became French if I'm remembering correctly. But if you're looking at the recipe of the French language there is alot more Latin and Germanic (Frankish) but with a strong Gallic base since the Romans occupied France long enough for the languages to mix together and same could be said with Germanic.

      @@ReboursCVT Ah gotcha, sorry I misunderstood. I would say yes and no. Mainly yes because of assimilation but I would say that smaller more isolated villages, particularly in the French Alps, would have maintained some Gallic culture. But to your point, yes I would agree with a possible exception of Brittany which has more of a Celtic identity as far as I'm aware

      We are very much Gallic. In fact, our ethnicity (with the exception of a few minorities) is Gallo-Roman. Many of the things we are most famous for as a people come from Gallic culture, from our food cheese and wine, to our fashion (our ancestors invented pants, something too often forgotten), to our revolutionary spirit. If you travel around the country, you will encounter so many towns, rivers, forests, hills, and so on which still retain a Gaulish name. And I can say from personal experience, although most of us are Christians or atheists, almost everyone still has a pagan way of thinking, and making reference to the gods (plural) is quite a common thing still. And in general, you will find many identifying with the Gaulish, even in political movements and parties, but you will not find the same sentiments or actions regarding the Romans or Franks

    • @ReboursCVT
      @ReboursCVT 7 місяців тому

      @@tchop6839 Gallo-Roman is an invention of the historian and has never been a true identity. The things you mention are not exclusive to Gauls or are just retroactively placed (i.e., mythic bullshit like "revolutionary spirit" lmao). There is only *at most* 400 words form the plethora of different Gaulish languages found in French, itself a very recent language. A great majority of names found all over France are not of the Gauls but more of the Romans or later conquerors. And all the pagan lens we use today to look at the past is heavily filtered through a lens of over a thousand years of of Christianity. Most importantly, as nationalism, national identity, and ideas of national culture are a modern idea and not one of the past, politically we are very roman. In fact the only reason why people started to give a hoot about the history of Gaul is because of nationalism, the cancer ideology it is, required founding myth and so retroactively applied themselves to a people completely foreign to them. Everything you said is more heavily applied to our connections to Rome than gaul.
