Gaulcast №17: Announcement and TikTok Chat
Переглядів 248 місяців тому
Been a while but Gaul Cast is coming back with a few changes planned and, hopefully, a more consistent schedule. A quick message from Artocatos recorded from his car talking about upcoming changes that will make the show better then the gift of a long impromptu TikTok Live conversation that ended up becoming a podcast episode. A few of Arto's TikTok friends chat about paganism in general and sh...

*Some audio issues* Taking a small break from traditions, Arto brings on Rhiannon aka Rhea to discuss nuances within Gaulish Polytheism, differences between tribal praxis, dealing with gatekeepers, and more. Tiktok users should check out Gaulsih Polytheism on Tiktok for great videos.
Ancestor Veneration
Переглядів 194Рік тому
By far one of the longest videos I've made covering a dense subject. Ancestor Veneration is the custom of honoring the spirits of the deceased. Treating them with respect and reverence, giving prayers and offerings. Veneration is not deifying the dead but treating their spirits with respect so they continue to watch over and protect and guide the living. If you're a Gaulish Polytheist and an ar...
GaulCast: #015: Bring on the Belgae!
Переглядів 263Рік тому
Moving forward with the series on Gaulish traditions, Renoturos Epomapos returns to discuss Senobessus Bolgon (Old Custom of the Belgae) or SB for short. Despite a name change in the near future, Arto and Reno discuss SB in great length. From the origins of the Bolgon tradition to what Deuoi they follow, to the history of the Belgic Tribes, to what the folks in SB are up to now. Special thanks ...

GaulCast #014: Treading into Traditions
Переглядів 792 роки тому
After a long break, Artocatos returns solo as, sadly, Branogara had to leave the show. No drama just life, schedules, and doing too much. Branogara will be missed as the show would not be what it is without their hard work. The show must go on and today is a shorter episode going over what are traditions in Gaulish Polytheism. The focus for the next couple episodes will be the various tradition...
Arto Plays: Total War Rome II- Chapter 2
Переглядів 392 роки тому
Welp... Arto botched a battle and rather than suck it up and bear the shame of getting his ass stomped like a WWE rookie who said the wrong thing to Andre the Giant backstage on record, he hides his beatdown by rerecording right before the engagement so 2-3 turns are just missing. The audio is still crap but there's still fun to be had and one of these days Arto will get his shit together and a...
Arto Plays: Total War Rome II- Chapter 1
Переглядів 462 роки тому
Arto dabbles in recording a playthrough of Total War Rome II as the Averni faction. Poor quality aside, join Arto as he fumbles through the game as it humbles him when he thought he had a decent tactical mind. In this first chapter, the Averni are tasked with conquering the Aedui faction. Establishing providences, building armies, forging alliances, and much battle in the Aedui War.

Artocatos and Branogara go over the next Senobessus Bolgon virtue before going into an interview with Sepanioi Roti (SR). Arto sits down with SR memebers Nertatis Cingetos, Artua, and Drunertos Moudowatis Tarwocnos covering the tradition's origins and mission. The group also goes over how to do rituals, devotions, and prayers. Sepanioi Roti has its own discord server and a website followersofth...
GaulCast #012: Winter Gaulidays...
Переглядів 562 роки тому
The holiday season is... Difficult to say the least. A very exhausted Artocatos and Branogarâ welcome back Nelos to talk about Gaulish winter holidays. While celebrating Christmas, Yule, Solstice, etc, is great, there are Gaulish holidays during the cold times that one could celebrate as well. The episodes ends with a brief discussion on the next on Senobessus Bolgon's virtues. We're reachable ...

Animism in Gaulish Polytheism

racists calling themselves heathens aren’t real heathens. real heathens don’t subscribe to subhuman beliefs.
brrra!
Amazing episode, please keep it up !
No celts in Western Europe, yank. They were all Gaels. The la Téne 'culture' is bollox too. You need to realise their is an 'agenda' at play here; to make the recent Caucasian(Germanic) invaders to Europe look like they got here a millenia or 2 before they actually did. Every Viking nation is now 'celtic'. But the Gaels themselves number less than 4% (Celt-Iberians they now brand them)of so called 'whites' still living in their own homelands. The rest were genocided/outbread by the current Black Sea/Anatolian stock. W Wake up.
Gone quiet. Never left. Glad to see a new episode ❤ Primi.

I have one I'm going to try to finish this weekend. Promise
Always LOVE learning about the Belgae !
So, what evidence DO we have for Artio being a mother goddess archetype? Not saying it doesn’t work, could provide interesting parallel interpretation for Rosmerta in the role of divine consort for Lugus…
As of now, there's no archeological evidence of her being a mother bear figure. This concept is primarily a reconstruction through shared gnosis, interpretations of the Muri Statuette, and comparisons with other bear deities like Andarta (Artemis/Diana comparisons) and Matutinus (possible Mercury type figure but Matu was often a replacement taboo word for Artos meaning bear)
@@gaulcast2176 Yes, as far as I knew the ‘Mercury’ type IS the only other likely bear figure. I’m only slightly skeptical because of those Artemis suggestions we’ve all heard before for Artio, implying more of a virginal, non-motherly character.
@thegreenmage6956 while there are some who say that Andarta and Artio are one and the same, I tend to lean towards the opinion of Blanca María Prósper who says that they are separate goddesses giving the virginal huntress aspects more to Andarta than to Artio but I am not one to stomp on UPG. Reconstruction or Gaulish deities is very tricky
Heard of you from Gjallahorn. Here to offer support.
I respectfully disagree with your take on “make your own traditions” because if you made it it’s not a tradition. And to partake in a outsiders traditions is the highest form of respect to their faith. I personally practice traditions to religions I don’t even believe in simply to feel a connection to the ancient people who practiced those traditions. I don’t care what religion you come from, if you go back far enough your ancestors believed something completely different than you. Also genes have nothing to do with religion. Even if they did genetic testing doesn’t tell you where your ancestors come from genetic testing tells you where are all the people that you share the most genetic relation to (right now)
😂 traditions don't suddenly appear they are all man made
US FASCIST COLONIZERS APPROVE OF THIS VIDEO!😀
love this Channel! Keep Going Please! But I wanted to point out two fair criticisms 1.The Britons and the Gauls Did Share some Deities, Taranis and Sucellos were both known to be worshipped in Britain, And one cannot forget about Linguistic Cognates. The Irish Lugh, Welsh Llew, and Gaulish Lugus are all etymologically connected and sharing the same Root, another one would be Gobannus,Gofannon and Goibnu, in Gaul,Wales, and Ireland Respectively. There are many, many more I could mention but I think you get the Idea. 2.The La Tene Culture made its way into Britian as well.
You're absolutely right. I will take those criticisms moving forward. Thank you
@@gaulcast2176 Your Welcome! :)
Thank you for this helpful video on types of gnosis in one's praxis. Also, thank you for the very informative, insightful, and interesting videos you have made (by yourself and with others) and shared on Gaulcast. I appreciate the time and effort needed for that.
Hail to the Gods of Gaul!
😅 so accurate
Ancient Fire by Segomâros Widugeni. If anybody comes across this episode and would like to know more about Gaulish polytheism as understood by the modern community, then this would be one of your best books to read, if you were to only choose one.

I feel like on Syncretism, it all depends on perspective, because obviously as with everything in polytheism/paganism as a whole there is no monolith even among subgroups, recons tend to have variety as do eclectic and syncretic practices
Good to see the bits that are usually forgotten given a mention. Especially 'tribe' at the end. We often contemplate life after death and assume either simple reincarnation or go to be with the gods. But I've come to realise that we go where our tribe went. Thus the ancient observation that a Celt might incur a debt in this life and pay it back in the next. The assumption is you'd be in the same group.. This also gives an insight to morals and ethics. Now, instead of being good so as not to upset a god and end up in hell, you keep your nose clean so as to be welcomed into your afterlife tribe, instead of banished. I guess, for the most part, today your tribe might be your town, or those you choose to interact with in this current realm.
Very cool.
