We finally figured out what was causing the acidic diaper rash to our son. To everyone it may be different but we fought it for like 3 months. We tried everything and every cream you can think of. It was so hard as a parent to see their baby go through pain for a simple diaper change. It ended up being dietary. We stopped giving him regular milk and started giving him Lactaid. The lactase enzymes are what he was missing. His rash finally disappeared and he can even enjoy new foods now. We were finally able to see a pediatric gastroenterologist after a two month waiting period and he agreed with all our findings. He was missing the lactase enzymes. Hope this helps anyone struggling to find an answer. Try Lactaid!

Very important to watch the video to the end. Key notes: lanolin alone won't fight the yeast infection, it's more of a natural preventative option for skin health. The baking soda bath makes the skin ph more basic. That would reduce the speed the yeast spread on the skin and allow for the baby body to naturally develop their defenses to fight it. Also in case of yeast infection it's even more urgent to let the baby out of diapers for as long as possible to allow for proper skin breathing and drying. It's very important to let your baby develop their body resistance on their own and REASONABLY avoid using over the counter medications unless prescribed by pediatricians.

I used to love & rave about my babies’ holistic pediatrician…. We drive 45+ mins just to see them. They have went dramatically downhill recently & it’s made me so sad. The doctor herself has belittled me & cut me off very dismissively & a nurse made a reference about young age as a mother & those moms not “wanting” to hold their children as if waiting for me to agree…. Not to mention just the misinformation or lack of. Paying in cash & her walking out mid question as if we’re finished already . I was in desperate need of this video & I have a strong “mom-stinct” feeling this is going to give me the solution.

My grandma told me about burnt flour as a baby powder substitute. Put a cup of flour in a skillet over the stove and pan fry it dry stirring constantly until the flour turns brown. When flour is burned it becomes a water repellent. Works like a charm.

This home made remedy sounds quite good and CHEAP! Which makes it even better! Well worth trying. My baby was in agony with severe burn-like diaper rash and I was at my wits end. Diaper change times were really stressing me and my husband and we were each actually making up excuses to avoid having to change the diaper! My mom told me (when I broke down in tears) to apply a soothing salve or balm as the creams weren't working and I eventually stumped up for quite an expensive one. this salve was called something like 'small troubles' and it worked like magic! I wish I could remember the name. It came in a pot with a white lid and it was being recommended in forums and the reviews were quite good. Any of the other salves and balms will probably be just as good and from the moment I first applied it I kind of knew it would work. My baby stopped crying once it was applied. His bottom was healed in a matter of a week or so. Thanks mom!

Diluted apple cider vinegar worked great Paired with coconut oil
It came back though and we use cloth diapers.
We’ve used butt paste and just ordered the green tube cloth friendly diaper one. Praying it works.
Tried lanolin just for a day and his rash stayed inflamed.
Heard bentonite clay is good, I sometimes sprinkle a teaspoon on his bum.
We live in an rv park and the washer is a community one and a very old basic one only has hot-cold water options.
Do you still recommend this laundry soap? We’ve been using seven generations pods but I have been wanting a better detergent and routine.
    Open to any tips!

@@carissathorn3727 Cloth diapers cost way less than disposables (and are better for the environment). The average baby (not EC) uses about 2500 diapers a year. At about $0.25 per diaper, that’s about $700 per year on diapers. I spent about $300 total on cloth diaper shells and liners and I wash the liners and that’s it. Done. Plus, I didn’t have to purchase anything new for subsequent babies.

Sounds like a nice money saving way to treat diaper rash but I don't think this would have helped my ds whose bottom was looking badly burned and even bleeding! I have never been so distressed in my entire life and even my hubby was finding excuses to avoid nappy change time time. I was recommended tiny troubles salve by my doctor (on the quiet as she says they are not allowed to recommend natural brands) as she had used it on her little girl and it really was like a miracle the way it cleared up EVERY sign of rash and softened his skin. Just like Bridget says, it is important to protect your baby's bottom from moisture/urine and this salve protects, just like lanolin, but crucially it also heals whilst it protects. Very expensive though but it does go a long way. I suppose any similar wax based nappy cream could work if a cheaper alternative is needed.

Definitely the football hold is best if you’re going to try to feed. It wont put pressure on your incision. I had a cesarean 3 weeks ago

No not rockin green! Honestly that stuff was horrible. Maybe their formula has changed, but it is barely even detergent. Go with something stronger, especially if you use synthetic fibers. Tide free and clear works great!

My baby had a really bad diaper rash and so we were using aquaphor, butt paste, and colloidal silver. The colloidal silver healed her skin so fast!

My youngest brother told me about colloidal silver too but it can affect absorption of other antibiotics if you have to go that route if it gets worse or no?!?that's just what I read and also something about turning the skin blue and it not being reversible.... I'm scared to try it on her open wounds and such sensitive area. But I'm desperate and my baby girl is only 1 month. The butt pastes and anything with the zinc oxide make it worse. Has anyone experienced this?

We switchted to cloth diapers 4m into my first sons life and never looked back. My second kid has NEVER had a rash. We love cloth. Never even buy diaper cream

Just dry their butts after wiping completely and they’ll never have a rash.

Unfortunately that alone isn't always enough to prevent diaper rash, especially in children with sensitive skin or frequent diarrhea. It's just one of those things that happen sometimes, and it's really important to inform mamas on how to help their babies heal up nicely so that they can navigate diaper changes with confidence rather than anxiety or feelings of helplessness/fault

That’s not really possible when they’re wearing a diaper, they get wet from when they go to the bathroom and before they get changed

How to avoid diaper rash in your newborn:
If your baby is exhibiting signs of diaper rash, there are a few things you can do to help avoid it. Here are a few tips:
    1. Keep them clean: Diaper rashes are often caused by bacteria that build up on the skin during curation. Make sure your newborn is kept clean and free of dirt, dried sweat, and other irritants by changing their clothes regularly and putting them in the dryer when needed.
    2. Use a mild soap: Soap can help remove any bacteria that may have built up on the skin, but it’s also essential to use mild soap to prevent irritation. If the rash is becoming severe or chronic, consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice on using an over-the-counter medication to treat it.
    3. Avoid over-the-counter medications: Although some medicines can cause rash, it’s not the best idea to use them without talking to your doctor first. These include antacids, aspirin, and other aluminum and chlorine drugs. read more:babiessounds.com/diaper-rash-in-newborns/
