U can use any width measurement of choice, just add it up with the length of the toe strap to get the standard length.

Thanks so much for this video its very helpful. I have 3 questions 1 . At what point from the top of the last should the horizontal strap be placed. Is i1 inch from the top of the last or right at the top. 2. Should the Long vertical strap be placed at the mid point of the horizontal strap? 3. I want to make back straps with a buckle. So I need to attach 2 straps to the oppasite side of the horizontal strap. What are the measurements for the 2 straps and the measurement for placing them on the horizontal strap? i.e at what measurement point do i place the buckle and holes straps on the horizontal strap

1: from 1inch on the instep,if you re using a wooden last it might slightly differ, just concentrate on the horizontal strap while lasting to make sure it laps on the last instep properly.
2: Yes the vertical strap will be attached to the center of the horizontal strap.
