This game is actually shit and there is literally nothing scary about it and yes jumpscares are not all that BUT this game could have used a lot more than what it brought , i have read books scarier than this game but that's just me
Zachary Goldberg For some people, psychological horror does it. However, I feel as if we corral everything that is sudden and surprising nowadays as a “jump-scare”. While a jump-scare fest does get boring quickly, psychological horror can also get boring dependent on the person playing. By the time I finally got to the end of P.T., for instance, the red-eye hallway hallucination wasn’t scary. However, getting caught by Lisa out of nowhere did still make me jump. Ultimately, horror needs a balance of gradual build-up and sudden scares in order to keep us truly on our toes, in my opinion.

What if, Earl didnt knew and the monster consumed his wife? Let's say, the night before, his wife told her about her ring being missing and told him to not come back until it was found. Drunk, he went out fishing to relieve stress. He might have gotten so far that he reached the part where the monster resides, and somehow awakened it (he was drunk, might've done more than fishing in a silent lake, probably screaming his lungs out to release more stress). His wife probably heard it since the place is so isolated and wide, it could've echoed. Unsure and "worried" of where her husband could be, Earl's wife could've waited on the shore. At this point, she already found her ring and wanted to apologize to him. Now the monster, could've done something too. It probably pushed/guided Earl's boat back to the shore, being unseen of course (underwater). Once his wife saw his boat approach the shore, she went to the water to fetch him (dumbass) and was either abducted/devoured by the monster underwater, Earl is so passed out that he couldn't even wake up. So the morning came, and that's where the game starts. He only knew the last orders his wife gave him, since he "barely" remembered anything last night. As for the gates, he doesn't remember it being there, he stated it the first time he saw one. The keys, a possibility it was his or the monster's (yeah, ridiculous) since he claimed he didn't know about the gates existing. For the chunks of flesh, yeah that's the wife, he didn't knew. The part where we saw the monster briefly (at 9:08) I think is because it knew he was looking out for his wife. It's trying to follow him or lure him into its own lair (the last part of the lake) by putting out the keys deep down the lake. Of course, Earl's first instinct is to open gates with the the keys since he's searching for the ring. I think the monster did the keys and the gates since: 1, Earl had no memory of the gates at all. 2, keys deep underwater, they're just 2 of them (earl and his wife) and only one going out the lake to fish (Earl) and has no memory of the gates. 3, last part where the gate closes. (cuz duh, it adds horror effects.) That is what I think, good game though

You know, I just realized the irony in that a river monster used bait to catch a fisherman. In a way, it was the monster who was fishing here. or perhaps the player, rather than the fisherman.
What a mystery. How the hell did the wife's hand end up down there if the wife herself said "Don't come back until you find it"? Was she missing the hand when she was saying that? :D Another possibility is that he never lost the ring, wife had it all along, but while he was fishing, his wife managed to lose her hand. Doesn't make sense but is doesn't have to for a horror game.
She probably drowned in the lake and the fishes ate her body, the MC mentions that one of them has teeth when he gets bit. I think she probably died a long time and the "day off to find the ring" is an excuse to look for her body since it was probably never found.
At first I though that was his own hand, that the reason he lost the ring in the first place was cause a fish bit it off. I also notice that his left hand was "gray", maybe he was wearing a glove?
Ok, I'll try to explain what happened. Earl was living in his house with his big, evil wife. Earl loved fishing, but his wife said that he must find "real job" instead of get drunk and fishing all day. She did not loved Earl actually. But in neighborhood was living creature that actually lover Earl. That was Swamp Monster, or Sam. Sam was stalkering Earl for a long time, and was extremely upset while seeing a quarrel between Earl and his wife. So, Sam had a plan: he stole Earl's ring and ,while Earl was seeking for it in lake, Sam killed his wife and scattered pieces of her meat in lake, wich attracted the attention of fish. Then he dropped a hand with the wedding ring in the end of lake. Now Earl only have to accept such a romantic proposal and marry Sam! Now they can fish together all day along. It is a really happy ending, isn't it?
Gotta say, fishing has BIG potential for horror; tension and relaxation are two sides of the same coin, they both take time and thought and are often achieved when one is alone.

Why tf are this mans keys so big
What kind of maniac is given the prompt "I feel like I'm being watched" and doesn't do a 360 scan?
14:11 once that subtle shadow swimming away at the left edge there... OGH
I can't see it either
This video doesn't really scare me, all I can think about when I hear that background ambience is Swamp Cinema, a truly horrifying server.
There should have been more action in the ending.
At the end it says the game was a demo.
How can this be a horror fishing game when his line doesn't get tangled in the trees? Nothing terrifies a real fisherman more than that.
And here I am... late at night. Watching a Indie horror fishing game. Life's good.
Earl's a real fisherman and doesn't let the waters mystery's bother him. Just cast and reel
i love these retro style games. to all the developers making these, keep em coming
That's a good fish right there 😌
I tell you what
VanBurenPhilips Yup
The most horror part is this man able to one hand hold a fish larger then himself
When the developers can't decided in either making a fishing game or a horror game.
This feels like king of the hill if it was a horror game "that's a big ole hunk a flesh I tell ya what, help the lure sink deeper"
This is Death Stranding boiled down to its most basic form and i love both of these
The noises are absolutely fantastic. Water lapping against the mangroves....lil more polish and it would be perfect
I have never play a PS1 or PS2 or N64, but these kind of graphic really catchy to me.
And half way there i already think that this is a purgatory and he just killed his wife without remembering it
That fog effect from first silent hill, right?
Cool thing, it can make a fine creepy atmosphere, and also hide a lot of "not a player business" things like end of level, some textures and etc. Nice one, game looks almost perfect.
Awesome game. I played it, and congratulations to the creator/s of this.
it really pissed me off that you didn't try to get the key
