I respectfully disagree. I honestly cannot see how SA2 can be the last good Sonic game. Don't get me wrong, I love that game, but it just feels wrong for a lot of what happened in the 2000s games to just be erased or something. If anything, I think the true death occurred with Sonic Colors. The writing of games like Colors and Lost World completely disrespects the personality of these characters, and took away the level of immersion, excitement, and overwhelming odds the stories used to have. It's like SEGA thought, "You want more epic stories with final bosses like Perfect Chaos, Final Hazard, Metal Overlord, and Devil Doom? Too bad, the stories will now be joke fests that reek of self awareness, since we decided to listen to a bunch of angry UA-camrs and game reviewers who thought that the story does not matter because they say it's about a blue hedgehog who fights an egg-shaped scientist." You can even see this with the amount of lore and worldbuilding we've lost over the years. You ever notice how the last Sonic games to have humans were Unleashed and SatBK? Again, a result of SEGA appealing to angry UA-camrs and whatnot rather than staying true to what made Sonic as a franchise so special. Though I suppose there might be SOME hope. For a while now, people on Twitter have been spreading #Maekawa4Sonic. As we all know, it was Shiro Maekawa who wrote SA2, Shadow's story in 06, and honestly is the writer who understands him better than the others (no offense Takashi Iizuka). Honestly, I don't really have a lot of hope anymore. I've waited 10 years for something like Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Unleashed, but nothing's come of it, but I guess some fans are still hopeful. Hopefully, SEGA listens and we get a better writing team for one of the next games. Well, those are just my 2 cents on this.
