The Simon in him also freaks out when he sees Golb, causing ice king to freeze momentarily before he says he can’t recall why the name golb sounds so familiar.
Them laughing maniacally is my favorite... I really hoped they could be happy together like this, even if they weren't the same people they started out as.

i wondered about that! it certainly seemed like a Choice to have ice king wear suits and glasses (simon's preferred outfit) throughout the elements miniseries. honestly that must've been rough for betty too. she said it feels like looking at her old life through a funhouse mirror. ice king loosely copying the aesthetic of simon, as if to appear as though a semblance of his old life is able to break free, while ultimately being impossible to revert back to simon must've driven her crazy. er, even more into the crazies.
Tbh I was kinda hoping for a winter king kind of situation to be the end result for Ice King except for him to actually regain his sanity and keep his ice powers and not just transfer his insanity to someone else

@@JameZayer Nah, if that were the case then it wouldn't make sense since his been the ice king for a very long time and after all those time the only lingering thing that involves betty was about the princess stuff, and if were to say that prismo did that to him like a week ago when the fiona and cake fantasy was introduced then he wouldn't have thought about princess. The show did mellow out on him stealing princesses and such but it's more or less due to finn and the rest of Ooo being supported of him.
There’s something so innocent about the way Ice King interacts with her, especially when compared to the way he interacted with princesses in the earlier seasons. Back then, he was pretty much operating off impulse and just kidnapping women for the sake of it (I.e. “Hey there, youre a hot lady! Let’s get married!”) He was in love with the IDEA of marrying a princess, not the princesses themselves. Here though, he seems genuinely fascinated with Betty in a way that seems more vulnerable and genuine. It’s almost like a schoolyard crush, especially in the way he jokes around and plays with her. Idk man, it kind of just makes me wish the two of them could’ve just ended up tougher like this. Magic Woman and Ice King would’ve been a wonderfully chaotic couple.

They could have been insane and happy togheter forever. Sanity didn't brought them anything good. And ince Ice King and Magic Woman were happy togheter, they were relatively harmless, even helpful

It's a shame Betty (magic woman) couldn't realize that not only could they be together in their current state, but keep it that way for another millenia. Mad, sure, but I think they could've balanced each other out
I do believe he had a breakthrough in the finale, and the romantic lines Ice King said was Simon breaking free. All they needed was more time together with her jogging his memories, bringing up the past, etc.
Magic Woman falling for Ice King for real doesn't seem realistic to me. He's too much of a disjointed mess, for someone like Magic Woman who still has a fairly solid sense of self and purpose.

What a beautiful ending (the one in the video) shows that his love transcends madness, and even in this state, he still feels a natural attraction for her, not only bodily, but also sentimental/psychological.

just as the ending says, "we will happen again and again cause you and i will always be back then" with the whole message of adventure time being that regardless of what form, era and timeline, two souls will always be now as they were back then. be it lovers, brothers, friends. what ever separated you then heals, you reform, grow into new people and you will always be brought together time and time after. it gives me hope in the situation im in now.

After a thousand years, he STILL loves her, he's STILL obsessed over whatever's left inside him, even after Ice King takes over. You swim in that pool and life is seemingly different for them, they see and hear things, they laugh in serious situations and cry at random times, all to fall back into a calm chaos. "If I said, your a beautiful girl, would it upset you?" Maybe, hear me out, Ice King remembers the first time he went mad. Before Betty got too Ooo, Simon had the crown and you can see he looks normal with no white beard at all. The moment the madness got to him, she left him. Now all that's left is bits and pieces, the rest Ice King. "the way you look tonight, silhouetted. I'll never forget it" Again, bits and pieces, madness and sadness. He remembers what Simon has left, and the sadness to recall it. That's all, he won't love like Simon did, he won't laugh like he did. That's why Betty goes to such great lengths, the torture of having to accept this, it wasn't an option to her.
God seeing this is really wholesome and all but it's also really sad and tragic now that we know what happens to both of them later and especially how much it destroyed and affected simon in the future from what we see now in fionna and cake
After finishing the Fiona and Cake series, watching this makes me have HEAVY empathy for Betty, I felt sad seeing Simon as ice king (even though I love ice king) knowing the full personality and backstory of who he once was as Simon
As fun as it is to imagine them getting together it was never gonna work out. Betty might be a bit more crazy but it's still the same Betty. Ice King could only ever be a twisted shadow of Simon to her, which isn't really optimal even for a pair of wackos like them. The bird scene is cute at first but she's forcing herself to act happy, as she later said she can't look at Ice King as anything other than a fun house mirror that drives her mad. The only way they'd have a real shot is if Betty got amnesia and fell for Ice King on her own accord.
The fact that if she'd been able to really just accept him, they prolly both would've suffered a lot less 😔 Like yeah, Simon did regain his lucidity as a side-effect, but going like 0 to 100 with it clearly hurt him a whole lot and undid a lot of valuable progress he'd made

just as the ending says, "we will happen again and again cause you and i will always be back then" with the whole message of adventure time being that regardless of what form, era and timeline, two souls will always be now as they were back then. be it lovers, brothers, friends. what ever separated you then heals, you reform, grow into new people and you will always be brought together time and time after. it gives me hope in the situation im in now.

After a thousand years, he STILL loves her, he's STILL obsessed over whatever's left inside him, even after Ice King takes over. You swim in that pool and life is seemingly different for them, they see and hear things, they laugh in serious situations and cry at random times, all to fall back into a calm chaos.
"If I said, your a beautiful girl, would it upset you?" Maybe, hear me out, Ice King remembers the first time he went mad. Before Betty got too Ooo, Simon had the crown and you can see he looks normal with no white beard at all. The moment the madness got to him, she left him. Now all that's left is bits and pieces, the rest Ice King.
"the way you look tonight, silhouetted. I'll never forget it" Again, bits and pieces, madness and sadness. He remembers what Simon has left, and the sadness to recall it. That's all, he won't love like Simon did, he won't laugh like he did. That's why Betty goes to such great lengths, the torture of having to accept this, it wasn't an option to her.

After finishing the Fiona and Cake series, watching this makes me have HEAVY empathy for Betty, I felt sad seeing Simon as ice king (even though I love ice king) knowing the full personality and backstory of who he once was as Simon

As fun as it is to imagine them getting together it was never gonna work out. Betty might be a bit more crazy but it's still the same Betty. Ice King could only ever be a twisted shadow of Simon to her, which isn't really optimal even for a pair of wackos like them. The bird scene is cute at first but she's forcing herself to act happy, as she later said she can't look at Ice King as anything other than a fun house mirror that drives her mad. The only way they'd have a real shot is if Betty got amnesia and fell for Ice King on her own accord.
