    One fun cousin of this one is the Vitoret DR. More or less the same, but rangefinder focus. Got one for 16€ in a thrift store that works just fine!

    I have three of the earlier Vito Series cameras, a Vito BR (with rangefinder), a Vitomatic IA (scale focus, but with meter), and a Vitomatic IIa (with rangefinder, and with meter readout in finder). I think they are beautiful, compact, jewel-like cameras. I think you'll find that no matter how reasonable Yacoov is, it won't be worth it to have him fix the camera. These can be found every day on ebay for under $30 in working condition. I found my Vitomatic Ia in perfect condition, with a beautiful original case and working meter, for $14. On the other hand, if you really want to have yours repaired, at least you should be able to find a cheap parts camera if it needs parts.

    4:55 by far the coolest feature of the camera

      Yes, that's what I thought when I bought it. It's currently at the repair shop with a nonfunctional film advance mechanism.

      @@BriansPhotoShow Hi Brian - Were you able to have the film advance repaired? I have the same camera and noticed the same problem: if there is any resistance placed upon the film, the advance spool slips like there's a friction clutch mechanism in there. Have you noticed this "clutch" slippage as well?

      @@MatthewAntonellis-ex7gn Yes, a local technician fixed the film advance issue and I've put several rolls through it since with no problems. As to the source of the problem, I have no idea. All I can tell you with confidence is that the issue was fixed without the need for any replacement parts.

    The Color-Skopar is indeed a 4 element lens design, patterned on the Zeiss Tessar. It's a matter of opinion IMO, but I think the Skopar is actually a bit better than the Tessar, much like the Rokkor in the TLR Autocord compared to the Tessar in the Rolleiflex. The one counter-point here is that the focus is had by rotating the front cell of the lens to move it forward from the rear cell (as opposed to unit focusing the whole lens), which introduces a modest compromise in close up optical quality.

    I've got a Vito B that has a stuck shutter release. Tried it with and without film, still stuck. I'll get it fixed after the shops re-open in Scotland.

    Nice camera, my dad had the Vito CLR that he purchased new in Germany many years ago. The camera was great until the light meter and lens shutter failed around the mid 1980’s. I picked up a nice in the case Vito C with the Lanthar lens, it works great but only has a top shutter speed of 1/250. I had bought a Vito CLR, the light meter did not work and the rangefinder patch was in poor condition.
    I think these are well built cameras, but most will need service.

      Yes well this one most certainly needs service, but I'll probably gamble on the investment and go ahead and get it fixed.

    I have quite a few 50’s Voigtlander which work perfectly. Think they were going downhill in the 60’s. Get yourself a Vito B.

    I got one, but unfortunately the shutter is constantly open and will not close. How can I fix this?

    • @BriansPhotoShow
      @BriansPhotoShow  Рік тому

      No clue. You need a professional repair tech to check it out. If you can fix it for under a hundred bucks, I'd say go for it. These things are well built and last forever.

    I checked your photos on Instagram. The colour images look ok, however, the B&W images show very low contrast. Could it be that the Vito with the Color lens is optimized for colour film?
