What about when the kid keeps talking anyway? Even after I tell them about the email? I have a kid who talks nonstop from the moment he enters until he leaves. He always has an excuse. Ive done this. . The parents have talked yo him, taken some privileges away, etc. No success. I teach 4th grade math.

Does he have special needs? Does his talking interfere with just his own learning or that of those nearest him or the entire class? What are his excuses? How are his grades? Is the material too easy or too difficult for him? Is he funny? Is he angry?

As a substitute I use this technique however I have them sign a form that I give to their teacher. The few times that I've used this technique, after the student signed the form they completed the assignment and I disposed of the form.

I have a studnet like that in my class and I tried to use those techniques with him but he keeps saying that he dosn't understand what we are explaining and still holds his ground , he tries to use the same answer every time I ask him to do the work , I feel like I gave up .

To keep things straight I tried to help him . Asked him if he has any questions but he doesn't want to put in any effort!

How often do you check the membership requests for your facebook group?

Great video, thank you. I’m a first year middle school teacher and I run into this ALL THE TIME! Lots of my students are pushing boundaries and responses with a “yes, I am refusing.” I haven’t found a good way to respond to those students, any suggestions? Thank you!

I would ask why, then I would include in the email, “your child said they were refusing to do the assignment because….”
