In this video, I'm going to share the exact method behind how I taught myself French (B1) and Tagalog in 30 Days! I’ll take you step-by-step through the entire process starting from stage 0, I’ll explain how the road trip framework works, and give you a list of exercises and resources that you can use yourself!

▬▬ More On My Background ▬▬
I took French on and off for 15 years in the Canadian education system, but learned literally nothing. I don’t remember anything except maybe some pronouns, colors, and “est-ce que je peux aller au toilette s’il vous plait?”
So at the start of my 30 day French Challenge, I took a placement test and it put me in A1 beginner level. So while I was not a COMPLETE beginner to French, I was still very much a beginner.
I’m also not completely new to Tagalog. I grew up hearing Tagalog through my family and at the start of my 30 day Tagalog challenge, I could understand the language pretty decently, although I couldn’t speak it.
So to some extent, no, I’m not a 100% beginner to any of these languages I’ve learned so far. I’ve had some exposure to them and had it pretty easy so far. Still, I believe that the principles of The Road Trip Method are helpful.

I recently gave my final board exam on French, after missing out around 5 years of basics people learnt in school because i joined freshman year of highschool.
I took help from my cousin who learnt french through Lingoda, I'm pretty sure.
I got really motivated to learn the language because i grasped it pretty fast even though the school doesn't provide facilities after 10th grade.
I'm looking for all the resources to learn and seeing you learn all this in 30 days definetely gives me the push i needed.
Thinking of self learning french in the upcoming year in my free time!
Merci pour vos conseils et bonne chance pour votre parcours d'apprentissage à venir!

I'll be working in California as a foreign nurse from Taiwan, and besides from english that I already use to, there are latinos there. So if I want to help those patients who speak Spanish, I must understand them first and build a relationship with them. That's the reason I want to learn Spanish:)

    Thank you mate ;)

I think you conflate popularity with learning proficiency. Nathaniel Drew is clearly not an expert, and you are clearly proficient. Awesome video all around. Subbed

In fifth grade, the teacher gathered us in a circle and started a conversation about ethnicity, a topic that had never come up at home and thus I had always assumed I was just American.
This conversation from fall 1995 sparked an interest in other countries that continues to this day, and this makes me want to visit other countries. This is why I am interested in learning other languages, so I don’t have to go around saying, “Do you speak English?” to everyone.
One thing I have tried is replying to post and leaving comments on UA-cam videos that are in my target language. (The comments are of course in the language of the OP.)
